Mr. and Mrs. Henry Montgomery Married 77 years

First Foundations, Inc. held a contest to find the Upstate couple that had been married longest. Three finalist couples were the honored guests at a banquet held at the Greenville Hilton on Saturday, June 14.

The finalists were Mr. and Mrs. Ed Brown, Mr. and Mrs. Eric Larson and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Montgomery.

The winners were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Montgomery, who had married in 1937. They had been married 77 years. The other finalists had been married more than70 years. FFI-Marriage-Ceremony-2

FFI President Dick Jensen and his wife Marty welcomed the guests. Dr. Ben Davis, former Mayor of Fountain Inn and President of Connie Maxwell Children’s Home, was the keynote speaker.

Dr. David Parker of Bob Jones University accompanied by Jeremy Gray provided special music.

Dr. Buddy Witherspoon, FFI Board Member, led the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag and Rev. Louis Grant of WMIT-FM Radio gave the Benediction.

A highlight of the program was Renewed Wedding Vows, led by Rev. David Yearick, Pastor Emeritus, Hampton Park Baptist Church.

First Foundations is a nonprofit “think tank” inspired by Psalms 11:3. The organization is governed by an 11-member board of directors and advocates for the societal foundations of familyhood, constitutional Government, and Biblical religion.

FFI was founded in 1986 and neither seeks nor accepts government funds from any source.
