Lt. Governor Henry McMaster and State GOP Chairman Matt Moore Host Trump Unity Breakfast for Convention Delegates
Delegates attending the South Carolina Republican Convention were welcomed by Lt. Gov. Henry McMaster at a Donald Trump Campaign Unity Breakfast. McMaster and SC Republican Party Executive Committee Chairman Matt Moore were featured speakers at the Unity Breakfast.
Governor Nikki Haley was the featured speaker at the convention. Congressman Joe Wilson was the only member of congress present. In fact, only 496 of the 870 delegates to the convention showed up to vote for national delegates and for the national Committeeman and Committeewoman.
Governor Haley discussed her accomplishments as Governor and challenges that continue to face the State Government.
Lt. Gov. McMaster discussed several achievements in the state that included port expansion in Charleston, improvements in the technical college system and the overall positive business climate.
McMaster said Trump has a vision for the country and in many ways “thinks the way I think.” He was encouraged by the way Trump was able to overcome attacks by the liberal media and other opponents.
A large poster was placed outside the convention hall for delegates to autograph. It will be placed in Trump election headquarters to commemorate the overwhelming First in the South landslide victory for Trump in South Carolina.
Glenn McCall and Cindy Costa were both reelected to the positions of National Committeeman and Committeewoman.
Costa received 300 votes to 157 votes for challenger Dr. Christina Jeffery.
Glenn McCall received 302 votes and his challenger Dean Allen received 149 votes.
Twenty-six delegates and twenty-six alternates to the national convention were elected by the state convention delegates. They will all be committed by law to Trump on the first ballot.
