The 15th Annual Honor Flight carrying 85 Korean and World War II veterans left Greenville Thursday morning October 29th.  Very few World War II and Korean era veterans able to make the all day trip remain.

Each veteran had a guardian to assist them on the journey and they were greeted with much fanfare both in Washington and upon their return to Greenville.

The vets visited the World War II, Korean and Vietnam War Memorials, as well as the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, where they observed the Change of the Guard ceremony. Veterans2-11-04-15

The visit to the nation’s capitol also featured a bus tour of important government buildings and memorials.

The return flight departed Reagan National Airport and arrived to a cheering crowd at GSP in the early evening. More than 400 greeters met the veterans when they entered the GSP lobby to be met by family members and friends.

The old patriots described the action packed Honor Flight as an experience of a lifetime that they will never forget.
