Thank You, Sen. Manchin
- By Star Parker
The saying, "One man with courage makes a majority" has been attributed by historians to different sources.
But regardless of who said it, there is one man who stands out today worthy of this description.
It's West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin.
Manchin has been a one-man show in the Democratic Party, standing often in solitude, holding feet-to-the-fire of his president and his party's leadership, pushing back on the massive and irresponsible spending avalanche in the Build Back Better act.
The Nullification Crisis of 1832-1833
- By Mike Scruggs
Preview of Coming Sectionalist Disaster in 1860-1861
Part 6 of 8 of a Series on the Morrill Tariff
In 1832, another tariff bill was introduced, supposedly to correct some of the injustices of the 1828 Tariff of Abominations and to give some relief to the South. The 1828 Tariff had also produced a surplus of government income that many wanted to correct. However, the Northern beneficiaries of high tariffs succeeded in a bill that did not diminish their profit margins. Some of the abominations of the 1828 Tariff were relieved, notably the troubling “minimum” provisions, which caused unjust aberrations in the duties and invited fraud. The average dutiable rate was about 33 percent. The net relief to the South, however, was negligible, and many Southern Congressmen felt they had been betrayed and exploited by Northern political interests again.41
A “Star” Was Born – God’s Miracle Reexamined
- By W.H. Lamb
“Some people have made transformational changes in…human learning or in one aspect of human life, and their names are forever enshrined in the annals of human history. But Jesus Christ, the greatest man who ever lived, changed virtually every aspect of human life—and most people don’t know it. The greatest tragedy of the Christmas holiday each year is not so much its commercialization…but its trivialization. How tragic it is that people have forgotten Him to whom they owe so very much.” (Rev. D. James Kennedy, in What If Jesus Had Never Been Born?, Thomas Nelson Publishers, 1994, p. 1).
SCDOT Wants More Gas-tax-hike Money to Spend While Surplus Grows
- By Rick Brundrett - The Nerve
The S.C. Department of Transportation wants approval to spend about $139 million more in state gas-tax-hike money for next fiscal year, though the agency as of October was sitting on a $955 million cash surplus generated from the revenues.
DOT’s annual budget request, submitted by agency head Christy Hall to the state Department of Administration, also designates $360 million in federal coronavirus-relief funding to speed up widening of Interstate 26 between Columbia and Charleston, plus earmarks another $300 million in federal American Rescue Plan Act funds and state surplus dollars to help construct Interstate 73 from I-95 to U.S. 501.
Debunking the Myths about Chemical Abortion
- By Mary Szoch - Washington Update
Thursday night, the Biden administration removed the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) in-person dispensing requirement for the distribution of the drug mifepristone (Mifeprex; also known as RU-486 or simply "the abortion pill"). These safety regulations -- known as Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategies (REMS) -- are meant to prevent life-threatening complications that can occur when using mifepristone as part of the two-step chemical abortion regimen.
What To Do About That Russian Ultimatum
- By Pat Buchanan
"Get off our front porch. Get out of our front yard. And stay out of our backyard."
This might stand as a crude summary of two draft security pacts Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei A. Ryabkov delivered last week as Russia's price for resolving the crisis created by those 100,000 Russian troops on Ukraine's borders.
Ryabkov's demands appear to be a virtual ultimatum, designed to be rejected by the U.S. and NATO and provide Moscow with a pretext for an invasion and occupation of part or all of Ukraine.
Among the maximalist Russian demands:

The Biggest Corporate Welfare Recipients Ever
- By Stephen Moore
How much do solar, wind and electric vehicle companies get in federal handouts and tax loopholes in President Joe Biden's Build Back Better bill? Well over $100 billion in taxpayer largesse. If all the tax credits are included, that number could reach half a trillion dollars. No other industry in American history has ever received this lucrative a paycheck.
The folks at the Institute for Energy Research calculated that this is on top of the more than $150 billion in subsidies these industries received from Uncle Sam in the last 30 years.
March for Life Chicago Responds to Governor Pritzker’s Signing of the Repeal of Parental Notification
- By Thomas Ciesielka
"This is a tragic day for parents, girls, and unborn babies in Illinois and the entire Midwest", says Kevin Grillot, Director of the March for Life Chicago.
“By signing the repeal of the Parental Notification of Abortion Act, Governor Pritzker acted in opposition to 72% of Illinois residents who wanted to keep this commonsense law in place. Illinois is now the only state in the Midwest that does not have Parental Notification in place, an open invitation to out-of-state minors to pursue abortions in Illinois. This repeal strips parents of their rights to be involved in the medical care of their daughters and leaves girls increasingly vulnerable to sexual traffickers. ”
Cities Crack Down on Booming Steal Industry
- By Joshua Arnold - Family Research Council
Who would have thought progressive politicians would get tough on crime? Yet after two years of unprecedented criminal activity, those politicians are feeling the hurt from residents and businesses. In a dramatic about-face, San Francisco Mayor London Breed announced an initiative to "be more aggressive with law enforcement" to end "the reign of criminals who are destroying our city." The initiative includes an "Emergency Intervention Plan" for the most crime-plagued neighborhoods, emergency police funding, removing barriers to officers preventing crimes, and disrupting illegal activities taking place in broad daylight. It's hard to believe this is the same Mayor Breed who proposed to defund the police budget by $120 million in 2020.
Unwinding America's Catastrophic China Mistakes
- By Neil Patel
Do you remember Armand Hammer? If you're over 50, you may. Hammer was a business tycoon who died in 1990. He was most famous for his deal-making with the Soviet Union. Hammer would cut business deals directly with the Kremlin. This was unusual; most U.S. businesses had very few dealings with America's greatest adversary. Today, by contrast, many American multinational businesses see their growth as much or more tied to China, our new primary adversary, as they do to America.
Biden Holds a Losing Hand
- By Pat Buchanan
As President Joe Biden's poll numbers sank this fall, and the presidentially ambitious in his party began to stir, the White House put out the word.
Forget all that 2020 campaign chatter about Biden being a "transitional president." He intends to run and win a second term.
Well, perhaps. Yet, skepticism abounds.
First, if Biden ran in 2024 and won, his second term would extend to January 2029, when he would be 86 years old. He is already, at 79, the oldest president in history. Does Biden look like a signal-calling quarterback with seven years of playing days ahead of him?
Senator-Lawyers Support Bill That Could Fatten Their Wallets
- By Rick Brundrett - The Nerve
Four senator-lawyers who, or their law firms, received workers’ compensation fees last year are co-sponsoring a bill that would allow employees to file workers’ compensation claims involving COVID-19 vaccines.
Three of the lawmakers sit on a Senate committee that will consider the bill and also screens candidates for the seven-member Workers’ Compensation Commission (WCC), which renders decisions and approves attorney fees in workers’ compensation cases.
State ethics law generally bans lawmakers and other politicians from using their office to financially benefit themselves, family members or business associates, though legislators over the years have relied on a legal loophole to push bills that pose potential conflicts of interest.
PA Medicine Holds White Coat, Hooding Ceremonies for Cohorts
- By LaVerne Howell - NGU
The North Greenville University (NGU) School of Allied Health Professions (SOAHP) held its annual white coat and hooding ceremonies for the Master of Medical Science in PA Studies on Friday, December 10, in Turner Chapel on the school's Tigerville Campus.
Dr. Jordan Hairr, associate dean for the School of Allied Health Professions and Physician Assistant (PA) program director, was among the school's leaders who greeted the 59 PA students, friends, and family members in attendance.
"We are excited to be able to honor both cohorts of students in a joint ceremony and share their accomplishments with everyone here," said Hairr.
The hooding ceremony recognizes the Cohort of 2021's accomplishments, which graduated from the program during commencement exercises that evening.
State Rep. Briscoe Cain Named Recipient of Operation Rescue's 2021 Pro-Life Person of the Year Malachi Award for His Work on the Texas Heartbeat Act
- By Operation Rescue
WASHINGTON -- Operation Rescue is pleased to announce that the recipient of its 2021 Person of the Year Malachi Award is Texas State Representative Briscoe Cain, who assisted in crafting the language for the Texas Heartbeat Act, which prohibits abortions after a heartbeat has been detected on a baby in the womb, which is usually around six weeks gestation.
The Malachi Award is given by Operation Rescue every year to recognize individuals who sacrificially work to advance the cause of protecting the pre-born.
In 2020, before the Texas Heartbeat was enacted, there were 55,175 abortions in Texas. Thanks to Rep. Cain's work, it is estimated that the Texas Heartbeat Bill has reduced abortions in that state by 50 percent.
Congress Expands Federal Government by Increasing Debt Limit
- By Eagle Forum
The federal government has a big spending problem. We have watched both parties add to the federal debt for decades while ignoring the impending consequences. In one generation alone, the deficit has ballooned from $5.2 trillion to $28.4 trillion. A whopping 54% of the federal deficit has been incurred in just the past two years, since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, the government is out of money and is forcing the American people — and future generations — to bail them out.
Update: Capitol Officials will not Confirm if There are ANY Decorations on the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree Displaying or Celebrating the Birth of Christ After Government Regulations Banned all 'Religious Symbols'
- By Christian Newswire
WASHINGTON -- Are decorations of the Nativity Scene, Baby Jesus and the Holy Family being banned from being displayed on the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree?
On their website, the USDA/Forest Service lists these prohibitions on what cannot be included for ornaments on the 2021 U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree:
Decorations cannot include logos, political or religious affiliation or symbols, drug or alcohol references, be divisive or offensive.
Here Comes San Jose Right down Tyranny Lane
- By Joshua Arnold - Family Research Council
All they did was meet together for worship in obedience to the Word of God. Then the government started fining them. Now, officials have shown up with a warrant and are interrogating their employees. The worst part of all is that the Supreme Court has twice ruled in favor of Calvary Chapel San Jose, yet still state and local governments are harassing them.
First it was California Governor Gavin Newsom (D), who clung to one of the nation's strictest lockdowns far longer than science or prudence could justify. Eventually, the Supreme Court intervened to end what had been nearly a year-long ban on indoor worship. But while churches opened elsewhere in the state, officials in Santa Clara County declared "indoor gatherings of all kinds remain very risky." Six justices curtly overruled the county's worship ban, perhaps annoyed by the brazen way in which the county flaunted their earlier decision.

Pastor of Kingdom Life Church in Simpsonville and President Emeritus of the South Carolina Baptist Convention Dr. Alex Sands addressed the 196 undergraduate and graduate students, family, and friends.

Where in the World Is Hoax-Enabler Tina Tchen?
- By Michelle Malkin
Jussie Smollett, the drug-addicted, anti-white, anti-Trump celebrity who cried wolf, was convicted last week on five out of six felony counts of disorderly conduct after falsely reporting to Chicago police that he was a victim of a hate crime attack in the sub-zero morning hours of Jan. 29, 2019.
Let us revel in the criminal comeuppance of a Hollywood liar. It's rarer than spotting a pair of MAGA redneck viewers of the liberal, anti-cop black TV drama, "Empire," at 2 a.m. in downtown Chicago. LOL.
Speaking of whom, here's a breaking news update in perpetuity: Smollett's two phantom conservative white assailants -- who somehow recognized the C-list actor and somehow knew he was gay and somehow just happened to be carrying around a "noose" along with a hot sauce bottle filled with bleach -- are still on the loose.
Houston, We Have a Solution
- By Tony Perkins - Family Research Council
Six weeks after the 2021 general elections, conservatives are still winning races. Last Saturday, conservative candidates defeated two incumbents in four run-off elections for the Houston Independent School District (HISD) Board of Trustees. Dr. Kendall Baker and former PTO President Bridget Wade both focused their campaigns against mask mandates and indoctrinating students with critical race theory. Although they are the only two conservatives on the nine-member school board, the radical school establishment and their media allies are shaking in their boots.
A Houston Chronicle "reporter" editorialized, repeatedly, that conservative school board victories were "a testament, some say, to the grip that national politics have taken over local education." He also insisted CRT "is not taught in Texas schools" while attacking Texas Governor Greg Abbott for "trying to whitewash discussions of race and the country's history" by banning it.
Nikki Haley's Christmas Present to America
- By Star Parker
Nikki Haley, former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, has served up a kind of Christmas present to the nation in the form of a new comprehensive policy book, issued by her organization Stand for America, serving up conservative solutions for our nation's many challenges -- domestic and foreign.
Conservatives get a bad rap that they just say "no." That they're against everything but never clear what they are for.
Haley is one conservative that cannot be accused of not having a broad vision and not being forthcoming in sharing it.
It's all here in "American Strength: Conservative Solutions Worth Fighting For."
Fauci Hides Financials
- By Adam Andrzejewski - Eagle Forum
In January, our auditors at OpenTheBooks.com investigated Dr. Anthony Fauci. We discovered Fauci was the #1 most highly compensated federal employee. Our findings, published at Forbes, were national and international news. However, we had a lot more questions.
We filed a Freedom of Information Act request for Dr. Fauci’s employment documents. We requested Fauci’s employment contract and all modifications, amendments, addendums; job description; and financial and conflict-of-interest disclosures.
It has been a nine-month battle. The National Institutes of Health, an agency of Health and Human Services, failed to comply with our three FOIA requests so, together with Judicial Watch — an organization which also fights for accountability and integrity in law, politics and government — we filed a federal FOIA lawsuit to force the Fauci paperwork into the sunshine.
