The Case for Secession

Please suppress the alarm you are likely to feel when you hear someone saying that a State or States should be allowed to secede from the United States. That alarm you may feel is a conditioned reflex which was carefully nurtured over several generations by the advocates of a strong central government.
Before 1860 most Americans would not have felt that instant, automatic alarm or revulsion at hearing the word secession. In those days some of the most patriotic Americans not only heard and entertained the term with a tranquil feeling but also considered it the solution of choice if the central government tried to exercise powers not specifically given to it by the Constitution. Of course, there were people still living in 1860 whose fathers and uncles had taken up arms against the British military for the very purpose of seceding from Britain.

Citadel President Is Staying Put

I applaud the Citadel President's decision to stay put amid the hullabaloo over a photo of cadets with pillowcases over their heads. Christmas skit? Racism? Well of course it was racism, because civil rights activists wouldn't have it any other way.
The students involved have been ousted, but that's not enough. Oh no! There's a Confederate flag in the school's chapel. Down with it! When do these demands stop? Not until governments, schools and businesses stop lying down and rolling over for every imagined insult.

Refugee Resettlements Are A Risky, Billion Dollar Boondoggle!

People fleeing their homes in fear for their lives deserve help. However, the knowledgeable, thoughtful, and cautious among the compassionate think it’s better if that help comes in the form of temporary assistance, i.e., a “safe haven,” in their own, or nearby countries, with similar values and customs. Those who take the time to “think” instead of “react” also know that what these unfortunate people do not need – and, in most cases, do not even want - is a permanent relocation to another continent!
Regrettably, as with nearly all disasters, the charlatans and profiteers arrive. In this case, we have nine groups of “voluntary agencies” (VOLAGS), with names that sound like they are associated with a church or some other religious entity, competing for extremely lucrative government contracts, in 181 US cities, to assist the US State Department in carrying out the reckless and dangerous UN mandate to resettle refugees from the Middle East.

Liberals Call Immorality "Progress"

The decline of morals in America has ceased to be gradual. Morality in our society is now in free fall. Most Americans now find the pleasures of sin preferable to the salutary discipline of virtue.
The filth of homosexuality abounds. Liberal abortionists have murdered over a million children a year since 1973. Mongrelization has replaced Biblical conformation to type. American society is an increasingly dangerous cesspool that is drowning our children. But the attitude of most people is, so long as we have material prosperity, and our property is safe and we have the security of peace, why worry?

American Courage

A couple of days ago I got a huge shock when Michael Medved, commenting on conservative Christian talk radio, chastised Ted Cruz and other right wing Republicans for wanting to cut the funding for Planned Parenthood. Why not? He said people should never get in a fight they can’t win. If you are sure you can win, then it is okay to fight. But Cruz can’t win this fight because President Obama will veto Cruse’s bill, shut the government down, and the Republicans will get blamed (again) for it.

Secure SC Now

Every county council in SC needs a resolution that states their county does not want to participate in The Refugee Resettlement Program.
The U.S. used to be in charge of vetting the refugees we would accept.
But now roughly 95% of refugees to the United States are vetted by the United Nations.
The FBI has stated these refugees are from UN refugee camps AND it is impossible to adequately vet them.
The wealthiest gulf nations are not taking in refugees for fear to their national security…so why should we?

In Defense of Kim Davis

I am amazed at the volume and viciousness of the nonsense being generated by the illegal and unconstitutional incarceration of Kim Davis in Rowan County, Kentucky. If you don’t understand what is going on (as opposed to what should be going on) please be sure to read Mike Scruggs’ article in the 9/9/15 issue of The Times Examiner. He did a fantastic job of exposing the legal fallacies of those who think Kim did something wrong and should be jailed, fined, and fired. I beg your indulgence for a few seconds while I expose their logical fallacies.
They claim to base their arguments on Amendment XIV of the U. S. Constitution, which says (in part) “No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.” Therefore (they claim) all Americans are under the equal protection of the laws, and homosexual couples must be allowed to obtain marriage licenses and get married the same way heterosexual couples do. “It is the law of the land because five Supreme Court Judges said so.”
