Obamacare as I See It from a UK Immigrant
- By Lucelle Raad - Sarasota, FL
I was brought up under a socialist system that I never questioned. It was only after I came to America and started my own business that I did an about turn.
It was a sad day in America when the Supreme Court ruled that Obamacare was legal which required John Roberts' convoluted reasoning that it is a tax. He betrayed us all by relegating to the dustbin the Constitution despite his sworn pledge to uphold the peoples rights, thereby putting in jeopardy all Americans and future generations.

Tony Beam says “We Are Citizens and Ambassadors.” Really?
- By James Whitfield - Clear Creek, Iowa
A “citizen” is defined as a native or naturalized member of a state or nation who owes allegiance to his/her government and is entitled to its protection. Are Christians, therefore, really called to become loyal members of an artificial man-made entity that is, at once and by definition, at odds and at enmity with God? Does God require Christians to look to anti-God entities for protection instead of to Himself?
Was Jesus, when He said, “Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s and unto God the things that are God’s,” really telling us that we owe Caesar any obligation? Caesar’s image and superscription may have been ON the gold, but Who MADE the gold (and to Whom, therefore, does it belong)?

Where Are Our Churches Indeed!
- By Frank Allen - Greenville, SC
I am weary of narrow-minded, finger pointing bigots damning Romney for being Mormon. It is as if they are agents of the liberal left trying to sow dissension in the Conservative and Republican ranks. Romney was not my choice for the Republican nomination, and has many issues that concern me, but his Mormon faith is not one of them. Don’t these critics realize how shrill and foolish they look and make the rest of us look to the undecided voters who will determine this election? “Mormonism is a Cult!” “They part their hair on the wrong side!” By their definition of “cult,” every major religion except Judaism and Hinduism are cults – including all Christians. Protestants are the newest branch of religion, only some 600 years old (Martin Luther), and it has not been long since Baptists and Methodists did not accept each other as true Christians! Listen folks, any person who accepts Christ as his Savior, is saved by the Grace of God, and attempts to lead his life by Biblical principles, is a Christian. The details are between them and God. And the Mormons I have known have lived up to that standard well. Sure there are bad ones, and fringe groups- don’t we have plenty, too?

We Abandoned Inglis Because He Betrayed Us
- By Lewis Vaughn - Greer, SC
The article appearing in this weeks (2/29/12) issue of The Times Examiner titled, "BOB INGLIS CONFESSED HIS CONSERVATIVE "SINS" TO BILL CLINTON" piqued my interest. It appears that Bob remains very angry over losing his Congressional Seat in 2010 and is still blaming his loss on everyone and everything but himself.

An Open Letter to Bill O’Reilly
- By H. K. Edgerton
Your utilization of a program that promotes itself as delivering fair and unbiased news, yet allows you to continue in this the Sesquicentennial of the War Between the States to use the airways of America to promote and to deliver the Reconstruction Puritan message designed to disguise from the American public the war crimes of Abraham Lincoln and the northern industrialist in the promotional sales of a book, without allowing equal air time for rebuttal by Southern authors like Thomas De Lorenzo, and Stanley Lott, a Black man, and promotions of their books, and the view of Southern folks about Lincoln, then and now, would be fair and unbiased.

Free Summer Breakfast and Lunchs from Greenville County Schools
- By Frank Allen - Greenville, SC
I saw an article in your paper recently concerning free summer breakfasts and lunchs from the Greenville county schools. I can hardly express my disgust with this concept, or list all the things wrong with it. First, and primary, is the fact that it is just wrong; there is no Constitutional basis for feeding people, though I would support it in emergencies; there is an obligation for parents to provide for their own children. Lunch at schools is one thing, as children are required by law to be there all day, though I can remember bagging sandwiches to school as a child. Breakfast is a different thing, and should be provided at home. But to offer these meals when children aren't even in school? How is that justified or explained?

Israel Needs Us
- By Frank Hall - Greenville, SC
Exodus 32:35 contains an interesting principle, one that all Americans should know and apply in their lives today: “And the LORD plagued the people, because they made the calf, which Aaron made.” Critics of the Bible would probably jump on that and say, “Wait a minute, who‘made the calf, the people or Aaron?" If they would think about it for a few seconds they could answer their own question, and not go off on some idiotic tangent. Moses had been up on Mount Sinai, receiving the commandments from God. The Children of Israel got impatient for his return. They broke off their earrings, donated them to Aaron, and asked him to make them a god. Without their participation Aaron could not have made the golden calf. God held them both equally responsible.
