Verizon-Foundation-Check

Verizon presented Honor Flight Upstate South Carolina with a $22,700 check at the Dec. 23rd football game between Clemson and The Citadel. This marks the fourth year that Verizon and the Honor Flight program have partnered to support World War II veterans and the sacrifices they made to keep our nation safe. Honor Flight serves veterans in the Upstate and surrounding areas by offering to fly World War II veterans to Washington, DC to see the memorial built in their honor and to experience special recognition.

The donation will support an upcoming Honor Flight trip scheduled for the Spring of 2014. The veterans will be special guests at Arlington National Cemetery where they will witness the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

“It is a tremendous honor to have a part in the Honor Flight experience for the men and women who served our country and were willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for our nation,” said Rich Bulger, sales operations and marketing director for Verizon and prior officer in the 101st Airborne Division out of Ft. Campbell. “Verizon is proud to stand with these brave men and women who put their lives on the line all those years ago to help ensure our safety.”
