Southeast Regional Symposium Held in Jacksonville

Five Military Officers Association of America State Council and Greenville Chapter officers attended the 2010 MOAA Chapter President’s Symposium held September 16-18 in Jacksonville, Florida.

The symposium was MOAA’s Southeast Regional meeting attended by 427 council and chapter leaders and members of their families. They met for three days to learn about current issues of importance to MOAA members, chapter management best practices, and membership matters. Seminars were held on membership, grassroots support of legislation and community actions.

MOAA is the nation’s largest and most influential association of active duty National Guard, Reserves, retired and former military officers and their families and survivors. It is an independent, non-profit, and politically nonpartisan organization with more than 370,000 members from every branch of service. MOAA promote a strong national defense by advocating equitable treatment of those who serve and have served their country in uniform. Nationwide, MOAA has 35 state councils and 416 chapters.

Maj. Gen. William Terry Nesbitt, the Adjutant General of Georgia, was the guest speaker at the symposium banquet.

South Carolina State Council President Col. Dale Ellenburg, 2nd Vice President CWO2 Michael Gonzales and TOPS Representative LTC Vince McNeese from Greenville represented the SC State Council at the symposium. LTC Jim Keller, President and 1LT Brenda Jansons, 1st Vice President represented the Greenville Chapter of MOAA.

The Greenville Chapter meets at the Hilton every third Friday evening. Interested individuals are welcome but reservations are required.
