Greenville County Council Chairman Dr. Bob Taylor announced County Council standing committee assignments Monday. Taylor was elected chairman, replacing Butch Kirven,  and Willis Meadows vice chairman at a meeting earlier this month.

As chairman, Taylor will automatically become chairman of the Committee of the Whole and Meadows, as vice chairman, will become chairman of the Finance Committee.

Fred Payne was appointed chairman of the Public Works and Infrastructure Committee. Liz Seman is chairman of the Public Safety Committee and Joe Dill was appointed chairman of the Planning and Development Committee.

Committees carefully and deliberately take up and examine issues with the assistance of the county staff. Debate and public input is encouraged at the committee level. Committees and their individual members are the workhorses of the council. When committees perform well, their recommendations are given strong consideration by the full council. All committee assignments are listed on the chart below.
