Bonds were approved for River Falls Fire District and Greenville Technical College

Greenville County Council approved two general obligation bonds Tuesday, September 3, 2013.

Council approved an ordinance providing for the issuance and sale of a General Obligation Bond in an amount not to exceed $427,542 for the purpose of building a fire department facility for the River falls community. The facility will replace one that has been condemned as unsafe. 

Council also approved a General Obligation Bond not to exceed $25,000,000 to fund a new project at Greenville Technical College that has support of the Greenville Technical College Board of Directors. Several local business executives who have stated that the new project will help qualify more local individuals for employment in their high-tech factories also supported the bond issue.

In other business, council approved an ordinance providing for Greenville County to assume indebtedness of the former Greenville County Recreation District. Councilman Joe Baldwin who represents District 18 that includes the town of Greer cast the only dissenting vote.
