GOP-Woman-of-Achievement-Faye-JayThe Greenville County Republican Women’s Club paid tribute to long-time member Faye  Jay for being the recipient of the Greenville County Republican  Party’s 2013 Republican Woman of Achievement Award.

Before a crowd of over 260 members and guests, including Governor Nikki Haley, GCRWC’s president Linda Slaton recognized Fay as being “a role model to us all!”

Earlier in the week, Fay had been presented the engraved crystal award for her dedication and many contributions to the Greenville County Republican Party by former Chairman Betty Poe and party officer Geri Warren.

Faye’s personal life is amazing. She was born in Pickens and is one of 3 sets of twins! After graduating from Winthrop College, Faye married prominent Greenville Attorney Sydney Jay. They spent most of their 52 years of marriage until Sydney’s death in their beautiful home and gardens on Earle Street in one of Greenville’s historic districts.

They have three adult children: Sydney Jay of Concord, NC; Jonathan Jay of Fort Walton, Florida, and Julia Sheran of Greenville, SC. Faye is the proud grandmother of 8 and great grandmother of 7.

Incidentally, Faye’s grandson Cody Jay is a member of the #1 Florida State football team that just won the National Championship.

Many Greenville natives will recognize Faye as their favorite teacher at Christ Church Episcopal School, where she taught future leaders for 26 years. Those students included former United States Senator Jim DeMint and Greenville Mayor Knox White.

Congratulations to Faye for an amazing legacy and a well-deserved award.
