Kathy Davis became the president of the Greenville County Republican Women’s Club during installation ceremonies at the Poinsett Club in Greenville, Thursday, December 3rd.  The gavel was passed to Davis by outgoing President Geri Warren, who has provided dynamic leadership through an unprecedented period of growth and achievements. GCRWC is currently the largest Republican Women’s Club in South Carolina, and has a reputation for activism and influence that has been a magnet for attracting candidates for national as well as statewide office who are anxious to speak before the influential club membership. Geri Warren was chosen President for the Year by the South Carolina Federation of Republican Women and under her leadership the GCRWC received the Federation’s Diamond Award.

Karen Floyd, South Carolina Republican Party chairman, installed the new officers for 2010 – 2011 and gave the membership an update on Republican Party happenings in South Carolina. Floyd was elected party chairman last year by delegates at the State Convention by a unanimous vote.

Special Christmas music was provided during the luncheon by the Goodwin String Quartet. Joshua, Jordan, Merry and Mindy Goodwin are all members of the Greenville County Youth Orchestra and study music at the Greenville County School District Fine Arts Center.

Lieutenant Governor Candidate Ken Ard spoke briefly during the luncheon. Ard is a member of Florence County Council and a private business owner and operator. Ard is one of three Republicans seeking the office of Lt. Governor replacing Lt. Gov. Andre’ Bauer who has announced his candidacy for Governor.

In addition to installation of Kathy Davis as President, other officers installed were:

Pamela Sowell, First Vice President; Jamie Bach, Second Vice President; Betty Orders, Recording Secretary; Carol Cobb, Corresponding Secretary and Patricia Arceneaux, Treasurer.

The Greenville County Republican Women’s Club general membership meets for a luncheon at the Poinsett Club each fourth Thursday at noon. Reservations are required.

Membership dues for the club are only $20 annually and Republican men may become non-voting associate members.
