Council Challengers Make Sales Pitch to Voters
- By Terry M. Thacker, Times Examiner Reporter
Eight candidates for Greenville County Council participated in a forum this past Tuesday evening at the Hughes Main Library. The event, attended by about 100 voters, was sponsored by the Palmetto Conservative Fund.
Jeff Magg and former councilman Joe Dill served as moderators. Magg explained that all of the incumbents as well as the challengers had been invited to participate in the forum. Steve Shaw was the only incumbent to show up.
Ken Matesevac is challenging Shaw for the District 20 seat. Matesevac got into the race after Shaw had announced that he was going to run for the General Assembly but later decided to seek reelection to his seat on council. Since Matesevac had already announced, he decided to stay in the race.
More Than 1,600 Pro-Hamas Activists at 33 Schools Arrested Since Gaza Encampments Began
- By Joshua Arnold - The Washington Stand
College campuses escalated their efforts to root out pro-Hamas occupations on Tuesday, with police arresting more than 430 people on nine different college campuses. Police have made more than 1,600 arrests in connection with the disruptive, illegal campus occupations since the first one began at Columbia University on April 19, according to an investigation by The Washington Stand. Disturbingly, some universities are beginning to cave to protestors’ demands to restore order to campus, even as campus protests become increasingly dominated by non-students.
The sheer number of campus protests and arrests can be a bit bewildering to keep track of them all. As of Wednesday, there were at least 1,641 arrests and counting at 33 colleges and universities in 23 states, with at least three more schools threatening to make arrests and more pro-Hamas encampments cropping up daily.

Stakeholder Capitalism: A Global Economy that Works for the Global Elite -- and No Other Person, Animal, or Plant on the Planet
- By Kathleen Marquardt - American Policy Center
This is a critique of Wiley.com’s description of Klaus Schwab and Peter Vanham’s Stakeholder Capitalism: A Global Economy that Works for Progress, People, and Planet. Quotes from Wiley are in bold italics. Wiley is a publishing company that specializes in education and research.
Reimagining our global economy so it becomes more sustainable and prosperous for all[1]
“Our global economic system is broken. But we can replace the current picture of global upheaval, unsustainability, and uncertainty with one of an economy that works for all people, and the planet. First, we must eliminate rising income inequality within societies where productivity and wage growth has slowed. Second, we must reduce the dampening effect of monopoly market power wielded by large corporations on innovation and productivity gains. And finally, the short-sighted exploitation of natural resources that is corroding the environment and affecting the lives of many for the worse must end.”
Truth and Liberty Coalition Announces Decision to Join Jewish Lives Matter Coalition
- By Christian Newswire
WOODLAND PARK, Colo. -- The Truth and Liberty Coalition announced its membership in the newly formed pro-Israel group, the Jewish Lives Matter Coalition.
At the core of Jewish Lives Matter lies a mission to propagate a message of love and steadfast support for Israel. Founded by Janet Porter and Faith2Action Ministries, the coalition strategically flies banners adorned with "God Bless Israel" and "Jewish Lives Matter" behind airplanes flying over college campuses amidst pro-Hamas demonstrations.
"Commencing with a simple banner stating, 'God Bless Israel,' flown over Columbia University on April 26, the movement is swiftly gaining momentum," said Richard Harris, Executive Director of Truth & Liberty Coalition.
No, Demonstrations Today Not Like the 1960s
- By Star Parker
The current demonstrations on college campuses against Israel remind some of the unrest on college campuses during the 1960s.
But the comparison is not a good one.
The unrest of the 1960s was defined by the war in Vietnam and by the Civil Rights Movement. Both had practical, personal impact on young Americans in their own country.
American soldiers were fighting and dying in Vietnam. There was real, life-and-death impact on all Americans, and certainly on young Americans.

Abiogenesis is Contrary to Actual Observation
- By Charles Creager, Jr.
The main reason that abiogenesis is contrary to observation is that life has only been observed to come from life. It has never been observed to come into existence from dead matter spontaneously. The simple fact is that the line between life and non-life spontaneously only goes one way, that is a living thing dies such that life becomes non-life. We do not see corpses spontaneously come back to life such that anyone seeing a dead person come back to life would rationally conclude that it was an act of God. Not only are there no examples of abiogenesis being observed, but everything we observe says it cannot happen.
Senators to President: Signing WHO Treaty Unacceptable
- By Eagle Forum
Nearly Half of US Senate Calls WHO Treaty “Dead on Arrival”, Urges Biden to Delay Acceptance
This week, 49 members of the U.S. Senate signed a letter to President Biden opposing the administration’s secretive plan to sign onto two instruments drafted by the World Health Assembly that will, in effect, make the World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Ghebreyesus – the dictator of U.S. public health. Eagle Forum applauds the Senators for taking a strong stand for our national and personal sovereignty.
This powerful joint congressional letter, spearheaded by Senator Ron Johnson of Wisconsin and signed by every Republican Senator, declared that “the most recently available version of the pandemic response treaty is dead on arrival.” The signatories declared that “Instead of addressing the WHO’s well-documented shortcomings,” the proposed Pandemic Treaty would have the effect of “supercharging the WHO” at the expense of, among other things, freedom of speech and property rights.
US University Riots Over Gaza War
- By Stefan J. Bos - Chief International Correspondent Worthy News
JERUSALEM/LOS ANGELES – Clashes broke out at U.S. universities, injuring several people Wednesday as police struggled to end weeks-long protests against Israel’s war with Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
Violence erupted at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) after a pro-Palestinian encampment was “forcefully attacked,” the school’s chancellor claimed Wednesday.
UCLA Chancellor Gene Block told media that “a group of instigators” arrived on campus Tuesday to “forcefully attack” the pro-Palestinian encampment.
The attack prompted the school to ask for police assistance, he added.

17 State AGs Refuse to Allow Biden to Insert Abortion into Pregnant Workers Fairness Act
- By Dan Hart - The Washington Stand
As the Biden campaign continues to push abortion as its primary focus ahead of the November elections, the administration made yet another move to ensure that abortion remains front and center by moving to insert the issue into the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act earlier this month — a move that earned a strong rebuke and lawsuit from a group of 17 Republican state attorneys general.
In mid-April, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) announced that it was controversially adding abortion into its draft rules for the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act, allowing workers to “ask for time off to obtain an abortion and recover from the procedure.” But critics say the legislation was never intended to address abortion and was merely meant to give pregnant women commonsense accommodations in the workplace, including time off for medical appointments, options to sit down and stand up while working, exemptions from heavy lifting, time off for postpartum recovery, bathroom, breastfeeding, food, and water breaks, considerations for morning sickness, and more.
Tucker Carlson Interview of Vladimir Putin - Part 10 of 12
- By Mike Scruggs
Zelensky’s Dilemma, Russian Christianity, Putin’s Christian Views
In part 9 of this series, we left Vladimir Putin discussing the disparate influences that Ukrainian President Zelensky has to balance in speaking for his country. Ukraine has become a virtual financial, economic, and military vassal of the United States. Yet Zelensky must also be wary of threats by militant nationalists in the Ukrainian Volunteer Army (UDA), Ukrainian National Guard, and its Azov brigades who will not tolerate any compromise of complete Ukrainian victory and Russian defeat.
Tucker Carlson: But do you think at this point – as of February 2024 – he has the latitude, the freedom to speak with you or government directly, which would clearly help his country or the world? Can he do that, do you think?
SC Policy Council, SC Public Interest Foundation file ethics complaint against Scout Motors
- By Rick Brundrett - The Nerve
The South Carolina Policy Council – the parent organization of The Nerve – and the South Carolina Public Interest Foundation have jointly filed a state ethics complaint against Scout Motors related to the $1.29 billion state appropriation last year for the company’s electric-vehicle assembly plant under construction near Columbia, according to a press release issued today.
The written complaint, which was submitted to the State Ethics Commission and included with the press release, asks the commission to investigate whether Virginia-based Scout Motors Inc., a company created in 2022 by German-based Volkswagen, violated state ethics law by failing to register as a lobbyist principal before the S.C. Legislature and Gov. Henry McMaster approved the appropriation, known as Act 3 of 2023.
The complaint cites findings in Nerve stories last year and this year about meetings or events involving Scout Motors officials or their representatives and McMaster, his staff or lawmakers before the appropriation was approved; and an earlier incentives proposal by the state of Mississippi.
“You Will Own Nothing, And You Will Love It”-- Says The Fascist, Klaus Schwab And His Globalist “World Economic Forum” - Part 2
- By W.H. Lamb
Last time we looked at some of the history that propelled Europe, and Germany in particular, into the chaos and morass of evil that resulted from Germany’s loss to the Allied Powers in WW1, and led to the doomed-to-fail German Weimar Republic from 1918 to 1933. We know from history that the German people distrusted, or didn’t understand, the concept of a ‘constitutional republic’, they always having lived under an authoritarian form of government—i.e. a monarchy (as, indeed, much of Europe also did historically). The other, and the main, harbinger of doom for the Weimar Republic was the extreme runaway currency inflation that the German people suffered with during their short-lived Republic, inflation that was basically forced upon the German nation by the Versailles Treaty, which ended WW1 but which placed such high reparations upon the Weimar government that it “inflated” its way into using its increasingly worthless ‘deutsche mark’ currency to pay its bills and its truly exorbitant reparations, which were imposed upon the defeated Germans after WW1 as a form of punishment.
The Chinese Threat to Local Communities is Real
- By Tom DeWeese - American Policy Center
Do the citizens of a community have a right to take action to oppose the establishment of businesses that will negatively affect their way of life – especially if it’s a foreign source? And why are elected representatives ignoring the very people who put them in office to protect their rights? These are questions that need to be asked as every city, town, and rural area face a growing threat.
For the past several decades the communist regime in China has been driving toward world supremacy, both economically and militarily. The regime’s main target has been, and is, the United States of America. The latest tactic of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is to use the threat of Climate change to gain control of our American economy, our food supply, and our energy system.

Israel Threatens To Destroy Syria Regime If It Joins Gaza War
- By Stefan J. Bos - Chief International Correspondent Worthy News
JERUSALEM/DAMASCUS – Israel has warned that it will destroy Syrian President Bashar Assad’s “regime” if Syria gets involved in the Gaza war, diplomats said Monday.
“The Israelis clearly warned Assad that if Syria was used against them, they would destroy his regime,” a Western diplomatic official told media on condition of anonymity.
Recent months saw several strikes on Iranian targets in Syria, widely blamed on Israel.
The attacks culminated in an April 1 Israeli airstrike that leveled a building next to Tehran’s consulate in Damascus and killed seven commanders in Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, two of them generals.
Four Radical Reforms to Shrink the Federal Budget
- By Stephen Moore
It was nearly 50 years ago that a liberal Congress completely dominated by Democrat big spenders passed a new set of budget rules -- the Congressional Budget and Impoundment Control Act of 1974.
It has been a complete and unmitigated disaster. Since the act's passage, the budget has been balanced four times and unbalanced 46 times. This was by design. Despite being called a "budget reform" law, the act was intended to grease the skids for new spending, but even Congress members the '70s who designed it that way couldn't have imagined the Pandora's box of spending and debt it uncorked.
The law's intention was to loosen restrictions on congressional spending, and to that extent, it worked.
Where Is the Safe Space for Jews?
- By Joshua Arnold - The Washington Stand
A recent trend on college campuses is to install “safe spaces,” places where students — or certain identity-group subsets of students — can go to feel safe. These safe spaces are exclusionary by design; they protect students by insulating them. In extreme cases, safe spaces have been deemed to cover entire campuses, leading to the exclusion or disinvitation of undesirable visitors.
This “safe space” trend has been rightly ridiculed for its tendency to protect college students’ feelings from exposure to opposing viewpoints. Such exposure serves to sharpen the mind and used to be college’s main virtue. Thus, protecting students from “harm” by sequestering them from intellectual diversity undermines the whole point of college education.
The Demonization of Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin
- By Mike Scruggs
Russophobia as U.S. Foreign Policy and Media Culture
May 2, 2023, a timely revision April 22, 2024
A few days before Tucker Carlson was dismissed from Fox News, Fox News 9:00 PM host Sean Hannity began his evening show with a statement something like, “We know Putin is evil.” Soon thereafter, Fox News host and contributor Mark Levin chimed in with a few phrases condemning and demonizing Putin. Do we know Putin is evil or is it that we are constantly told by Deepstate politicians and their captive media that Putin is evil? What is the objective basis of such a statement? Would the assumed facts hold up to cross examination and analysis? Given the establishment media’s failure to make the obvious connections between the February 24, 2022, Russian invasion and the February 2014 U.S. State Department-backed coup and regime change in Ukraine, reasonable people have formidable cause to doubt the wisdom and factual basis of such careless and inflammatory language. Moreover, the resulting eight years of continuing war and cultural genocide perpetrated by the new coup-based Ukrainian government against the large Russian ethnic population concentrated in eastern and southern Ukraine gives us a righteous discomfort with such defamation. Both Hannity and Levin also engaged in an episode of this sort of Putin demonizing in February of this year. Moreover, in two previous interviews with President Trump, Hannity had pressed Trump very hard to condemn Putin. Trump, to his credit, refused to engage in such dangerous rhetoric. First of all, Trump is strong enough to maintain his objectivity, and second, smart enough not to make statements that would wreck any possibilities of future negotiations with Putin or the Russian Federation on Ukraine or any other issue.
Title IX Pushes Girls Out

Biden’s DHHS Moves Forward on Erasing Girls and Women
Washington, D.C. — Today, the Department of Health and Human Services released its rewritten Title IX rule. Originally created to allow women equal access to education, the Biden administration has gutted these protections by expanding the definition of sex to include self-proclaimed ‘gender identity’.
Early last year, DHHS released a proposed version of the rule for the public to review. Over 230,000 comments were received. Eagle Forum joined countless other conservative organizations in opposing the new regulation.

Abiogenesis is Unobservable
- By Charles Creager, Jr.
There are several reasons why abiogenesis is unobservable. The first is that if it did happen, it happened in a place and time beyond our observation. The second reason is that if abiogenesis happens current ideas of it happen to take too long to be observable. Finally, any observation of a new life where it had previously not been seen, could have numerous other explanations other than abiogenesis. They could include simply missing it before, contamination by our own actions or presents, the life that we find could simply come from another location, and there are many more possibilities. All of this adds up to abiogenesis being unobservable.
Because observation is a major aspect of science, this means that abiogenesis cannot legitimately be considered science since it is completely unobservable. The entire idea is nothing but a result of the presupposition of atheistic naturalistic materialism, not science.
