Bob Jones University to Host 51st High School Festival

Bob Jones University will host its annual High School Festival Monday, Oct. 30, through Thursday, Nov. 2, on the BJU campus.
Over 530 students in grades 9-12 from dozens of Christian schools and homeschool groups will participate in a series of competitions in art, music, speech, video, preaching and teaching.
"We are excited to welcome attendees and competitors to the 51st annual High School Festival competition. This event brings hundreds of high schoolers to the BJU campus to compete and display their talents. We are continually impressed with the quality of their performances and entries,” said Andrew Carter, University Host. “We are thankful for the involvement of the many BJU faculty and staff who help make this event a meaningful experience for our guests.”

Bob Jones University Launches Search for Sixth President

The Bob Jones University Board of Trustees today launched a presidential search website to accept nominations and applications for the sixth president of BJU. The site features a presidential profile, institutional profile, nomination form and employment application.
Bob Jones University’s president is hired by and reports directly to the Board of Trustees and is the chief executive officer of the institution. For this position, the Board is seeking a godly and Spirit-filled individual with a passion for God, His Word, evangelism, ministry and Christian education; who is totally committed to the absolute authority of the Bible, the mission of BJU and the local church; and who has successful leadership and administrative experience.

Noted Evangelical Scholar Hunter Baker Named NGU Provost

Noted evangelical scholar Hunter Baker has been named Provost and Dean of the University Faculty at North Greenville University, NGU President Dr. Gene C. Fant, Jr., announced to the university’s Board of Trustees on Thursday morning, October 19, during its fall meeting. Dr. Baker was introduced at the board’s plenary session on the Tigerville campus, and also met with NGU academic leadership Thursday afternoon.
Dr. Baker will begin his NGU tenure on January 1, 2024, moving from Union University in Jackson, TN. He joined the Tennessee Baptist institution’s faculty in 2010, and has served as Dean of Arts and Sciences and Professor of Political Science since 2018, coordinating the work of more than 90 faculty in 15 academic units. He previously served in administrative and faculty posts at Houston Baptist University (now Houston Christian University).

Washington Center Students to Participate in Challenge Day at BJU

Bob Jones University, in collaboration with Special Olympics Greenville and Greenville County Parks, Recreation & Tourism, is hosting the annual Washington Center Challenge Day Friday, Oct. 20, from 9:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the Davis Field House on the BJU campus.
“Washington Center has been buzzing about Challenge Day since the first day of school. Our teachers, students and families are grateful for the work that has gone into planning and supporting such an amazing event,” said Sheila K. Gentry, principal of Washington Center. “Our students are ready to show off their skills so let the games begin!”

NGU's Abigail McGillis Named SCICU McLean-Smith Student of the Year

South Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities has selected North Greenville University’s (NGU) Abigail McGillis as its 2023 SCICU McLean-Smith Student of the Year.
McGillis, a senior elementary education major, was honored at SCICU’s Board of Trustees meeting on October 10. The recognition provides a $3,000 scholarship.
“We are proud of Abigail McGillis for being named the 2023 McLean-Smith SCICU Student of the Year,” said NGU President Dr. Gene C. Fant, Jr. “This is a significant achievement, and it exemplifies the leader that she is becoming on our campus and in her community.”

Renovated Administration Building to Serve as Home for COBE Students

Nearing completion on North Greenville University’s (NGU) Tigerville campus, The Donnan/COBE Project will provide a permanent home for College of Business and Entrepreneurship (COBE) students in the spring of 2024.
One of those students is senior Jake Auton, a double major in Marketing and Christian Studies at NGU. Upon graduation, Auton plans to continue his education, pursuing both Master of Divinity and Master of Business Administration degrees.
“I’m so excited to be able to sit in this environment with my professors and learn from their wisdom and experience,” Auton said. “The new collaborative spaces and technology within the building are going to be great for the learning experience for future generations of North Greenville University students.”

Bob Jones University will host its annual Homecoming and Family Weekend Friday through Saturday, Oct. 6–7, on the BJU campus.
