The Joyful Harps kicked off the first Friday night installment of Christmas in Dixie at the Museum and Library of Confederate History. The series is free to the public and will continue through December 26.
The Museum is located on 15 Boyce Avenue in the Historic Pettigru District of Greenville, near the Poinsett Club.
The Museum will be celebrating Christmas in Dixie each Friday evening in December. The festivities start with a story time for children at 6 pm hosted by Terry Grissop. Musical entertainment and carol singing follows from 7 to 9 pm.
Cookies, cider, punch, and other finger food will be served.
The remaining musical programs are:
December 12 – Renfrew Children’s Chorale, with traditional Christmas music.
December 19 – Reeves Family Violins.
December 26 – Aubrey Elliott, peddle harp.
Attendees of Christmas in Dixie will also be welcome to view the interesting displays of artifacts from the War Between the States.
The museum, owned and operated by Camp 36, Sixteenth Regiment, South Carolina Volunteers, Sons of Confederate Veterans, is the only one of it’s kind in the Upstate and is visited by thousands of individuals from all over the world annually.
The purpose of the SCV and the museum is to preserve the true history of the South and Confederate soldiers for future generations.
