Students and teachers from across South Carolina were selected to receive recognition and a cash prize.

Joye Law Firm, a leading South Carolina-based personal injury firm, is proud to announce the winners of their 2024 Joye Law Firm scholarship contest. Seven high school seniors were awarded a $2,000 scholarship to help with college expenses, and an additional seven teachers were selected for a $250 appreciation prize. The law firm founded this program in the 2005-2006 school year to recognize the importance of attaining a good education, to help young people achieve their career goals, and to acknowledge outstanding educators.  Since the program’s founding, the Joye Law Firm has awarded more than $250,000 in scholarships and awards to individuals from across the state of South Carolina. The firm is dedicated to giving back to the local community and is proud to recognize and assist some deserving students and teachers.

In order to be considered for a scholarship, students submitted an in-depth application, prepared a creative entry based on a personal injury topic, and were required to sign an honor pledge. Winners were selected based on their academic achievements, participation in extracurricular activities, demonstration of community leadership, and personal character.

Six $2,000 scholarships were available to graduating high school seniors in South Carolina who will be attending four-year colleges or universities in the fall. A seventh $2,000 scholarship was reserved for a student planning to attend a Historically Black College or University.

In addition to the student scholarships, each recipient nominated a teacher for recognition. These nominated teachers were also awarded $250, acknowledging their pivotal role in shaping and supporting the students’ educational journeys.

Each student winner and teacher nominee was invited to attend the firm’s annual awards banquet at the Francis Marion Hotel in Charleston on June 13th. The award recipients were celebrated at the event by their families, Joye Law Firm attorneys, and team members, as well as special guest, Debo Williams, All-SEC linebacker and Joye Law Firm NIL athlete.
