Chelsea Phillips and Matthew Todd Scott were honored by Greenville County Council member Willis Meadows for saving the lives of two fellow citizens. In the early morning hours of Nov. 2, 2013, Ms. Phillips and Mr. Scott smelled smoke and sought the source of the fire. They identified the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leon Clark, called 911 and proceeded to alert the residents. Mr. Clark escaped the burning house through the basement. Phillips and Scott in pulling Mrs. Clark through a window to safety. The Berea Fire Chief stated that without their timely heroic actions there could have been two fatalities.
