Visiting Museum of Military History

Visitors enjoy their tour of the Cecil D. Buchanan Museum of Military History with thousands of artifacts. The museum is located at American Legion Major Rudolf Anderson, Jr. Post 214 located at 3110 Wade Hamtpon Blvd., Taylors, SC. The museum is open Saturdays at 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.. Admission is FREE.

Korean Vets Hold Election

The regular monthly meeting of the KWVA Foothills Chapter 301 was held Thursday June 13, 2019 at the Golden Corral. The June meeting is always the annual meeting for election of officers. Those elected for the coming year include Lewis I ”Lew” Perry, President; Jerry Lunsford, !st Vice President: Ulish Givance, 2nd Vice President: Cynthia Perry, associate member, Secretary/Treasurer. New officers assumed their role following Installation of officers conducted by Past President, Francis Thompson. Committee chairman and other appointments and will be made by the new President and announced at the next meeting August 8, 2019. Outgoing President Conrad Nowak retired with comments thanking the members for their support and cooperation during the past two years.

July 27 Korean War Truce Day

I along with millions of Americans will celebrate Independence Day on July 4TH. I hope all will pause, reflect and give thanks to our Creator for bestowing to us this great country. But freedom is not free. I suggest readers research what happened to the signers of the Declaration of Independence. All lost their fortunes, some were executed, families persecuted and destroyed, and more. They gave their all to provide us with the freedoms we enjoy today. So did the hundreds of thousands that have lost their lives in all of America’s wars since the Revolutionary War, including those that are serving and protecting us in today’s wars.
