I hope you have enjoyed my last two articles regarding Christopher Columbus. Our nation is exceptional (not perfect) because, in part, God ordained folks in various leadership positions to bring about this nation. Their struggles to deliver pronouncements making this nation like none other in the world were difficult if not nearly impossible without the guidance and favor of God. I think I made this point with my Columbus articles, and even several article prior. As I conclude my series, I share another look into our unique beginning as a nation unlike any in the world at that time, or for all practical purposes in the present. The Spiritual Warfare raging to collapse the United States is not new, but I believe it has increased in force and vengeance. From Columbus to our founders meeting to create our founding documents and order for this unique nation, and the war to deliver us from tyranny of England, and then forward to present day, the Lord God has been a key factor. This fact is hated by all who are influenced and directed by the powers of darkness. Yes…the powers of darkness were confronted by Christopher Columbus, by our founders, by Washington and onward. The works of certain leaders, elected or otherwise, who have disliked America deeply though they hide it with smiles and verbiage, is becoming painfully evident today as forces to bring about a New-World Order a One-World Government with no national sovereignty, has stepped up aggressively with no concern for concealment. The coming elections shall decide whether America will remain the hope and dream of Columbus, our founders, Washington, and all who have unabashedly stood and fought for freedom.

============

The Puritans walked a path much similar to that of Christopher Columbus, knowing what he had accomplished when they too sought God’s leading to break from not only the Church of England but also to all churches in favor of autonomous gathered churches. This reformation led them to the New World of North America, arriving in 1630, ten years after the Pilgrims landed on Cape Cod in what is now New England on November 9, 1620, for very similar reasons – to live life as God outlined in His Word, to live life mindful of the eternal rules of order that Heaven had ordained – not man. Christopher Columbus began his arduous journey long before he boarded his flagship and set sail; he appealed to heaven for clarity of vision, direction, favor, and doors to open so he could even proceed; favor again for both financial and political backing; and favor to address the myriad of challenges that only kings and queens can place before anyone, no matter how just the cause being sought. Somewhere along the way, Columbus made personal changes that were less than thoughtful, less than gracious. But the early seeds he sowed and the early examples he set were sufficient for a benevolent God to make something that would change the world and the lives of millions in spite of man’s egregious errors.

There is no reason to think George Washington did not know the general outline of the stories related to Columbus, then the Puritans and then the Pilgrims. For in each of those episodes there was a profound experiment to establish not only religious freedom, but a country ordered by Heaven’s Laws and not those of mere human tyrannical kings. Additionally, there was one experimental example George Washington knew intimately as he stood on the second-floor balcony of New York City’s Federal Hall preparing to take the oath of office as our nation’s first President. He had already appealed to heaven at the beginning of the great Revolutionary War; Washington personally knew there was absolutely no mere human way for the colonies to face the seemingly insurmountable odds against such powers as possessed by Britian.

George Washington knew as the then commanding general of the small, rag-tag army of the colonies, if the war to become established as an independent but united states, free from tyrannical rule, was just then government is instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed; that all men are created equal, and they are endowed by God with certain unalienable rights; and that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, that whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government. And for support of this series of declarations, our forefathers actively and publicly sought and relied on the protection, divine intervention, and leading of the God of Israel, the One True God and Creator, the same God Christopher Columbus sought after and believed in 284 years prior.

I pray we do not lose the gift given to us by so many in the coming election!
