Abiogenesis is not a specific theory of the origin of life but rather by definition abiogenesis is the idea of the naturalistic origin of life. That is, it is the general concept of a naturalistic origin of life. It is a 100% philosophical concept based on complete atheistic naturalistic materialism.
It is ultimately a necessity of insisting on a totally naturalistic origin to life, the universe, and everything. Abiogenesis is not necessitated by science, or even implied by science. It simply results from an insistence on a naturalistic origin.
It is part of a long list of similar ideas. The Big Bang, cosmic inflation, star formation, planet formation, the origin of life, a universal common ancestor of life, and the origin of humanity. Together each of these steps form an atheistic mythology about the origin and development of the universe from the Big Bang to man.
It results from the starting assumption of disallowing God along with the notion that there is nothing beyond the ability of scientific explanation. In other words, they have already excluded God as an explanation and will not consider the possibility that they cannot find one. As a result, if you are going to insist on a totally naturalistic origin for everything, then abiogenesis is a necessity even if there is no evidence or even no possibility of finding evidence for it.
Because falsification is one of the main requirements of something being scientific and abiogenesis is an absolute necessity to the atheistic naturalistic mythology of the Big Bang to man evolution, in practical terms it is unfalsifiable. This is because regardless of what evidence against the possibility of a naturalistic origin for life can be or is presented its proponents will deny it and keep on funding and pushing the concept of abiogenesis.
