The Meritorious Service Award was presented to Pamela Durham on November 2, 2012, at the 2012 General Convention of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, held in Richmond, Virginia. Meritorious Service Awards are presented by the UDC to veterans who are collateral descendants of Confederate Military personnel and who have given military service to our country in certain time frames. This award was presented during the Historical Evening service in recognition of courage and loyalty and of faithful and honorable service to the United States of America by Pamela Durham in the Persian Gulf as a TSgt in the United States Air Force. The award was presented by Martha Van Schaick, President General of the UDC, 2010-2012. Mrs. Durham received the award on behalf of her collateral ancestor, John H. Williford, who served the Confederate States of America in the War Between the States as a Private in Company I, 25th Regiment, Tennessee Infantry. The award is a testimonial to the fact that the descendant of one who served in the Confederate Army has proven worthy of that lineage. Mrs. Durham is a member of Winnie Davis UDC Chapter No. 442 of Greenville, SC.
