The fifth annual Julie Valentine Luncheon raised funds to help reach women and children in Upstate South Carolina who are survivors of sexual assault and abuse.

Former FBI Profiler Jim Clemente shared his message of survival and justice with the attendees. Clemente’s own undercover work led to the incarceration of a profiled child sex offender, teacher and camp director who molested dozens of children.  As an internationally recognized expert, he is a technical advisor and writer for Criminal Minds.

Diana Watson from FOX Carolina welcomed the guests and served as moderator for the luncheon program.

The second speaker was a young woman who described in great detail how she was repeatedly raped by her brother and was blamed by her parents for her rapes.  She reported the rapes to schoolteachers and during college reported the incidents to counselors with no help from any source. It was not until she discovered the Julie Valentine Center that she found help in dealing with the scars left from her painful experiences.

She credits the Julie Valentine Center with coming to her aid.

With her brother now in prison, her parents unhappy with her, she has a support group by her side, and insists she is living a normal life after many years of frustration.
