INDEPENDENT CONSERVATIVE VOICE OF
UPSTATE SOUTH CAROLINA

“When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.” - Proverbs 29:2

Politicians are a dime-a-dozen, but statesmen are rare coins.

Many of our founding forefathers were political leaders who put God, family, and country first. Today, too many of our political leaders promote themselves above everything else. Men like John Adams, John Quincy Adams and Patrick Henry were born again believers that stood for godliness in and out of political office.

Patrick Henry said, “It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religions, but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ.” Patrick Henry, once when he was reading the scriptures, held up the Bible and said, “The Bible is worth all other books which have ever been printed.” Patrick Henry coined the phrase, “Give me liberty or give me death!” He was the Commander-in-Chief of the Virginia Militia, a member of the Continental Congress, a member of the Virginia General Assembly, and Governor of Virginia five times.

Before the Revolution took place, Patrick Henry heard about a trial taking place in Stottsylvania County, Virginia. He rode for many miles on horseback to attend this trial. When he entered the back of the courtroom, there were three Baptist preachers who were being tried for having preached without the permission of the Episcopalian Church. During the proceedings of this trial, Patrick Henry stood up and declared loudly for everyone to heard, “May it please your lordships what did I hear? Did I hear an expression that these men, whom you Worships are about to try for a misdemeanor, are charged with preaching the Gospel of the Son of God?”

John Adams served as the second President of this country, and he also served as the Vice President for eight years under President George Washington. On October 11, 1798, President John Adams said in his military address, “We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge, or gallantry, would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”

John Quincy Adams, who became the sixth President of the United States, and also was the son of John Adams, second President of this country served in several high governmental offices. John Quincy Adams said this, “The highest glory of the American Revolution, was this: it connected, in one indissoluble bond, principles of civil government with the principles of Christianity.”

The Bible says in Jude 3, “Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.”

Rarely have we seen a politician, who professes to know Jesus Christ as Saviour, that, after that individual is elected, to see him live a Christ-filled life in the political office and have the same character as our founding forefathers. There is such a man,  Judge Roy Moore of Alabama.

Judge Roy Moore’s political career began as a lower court judge in Alabama. He was attacked by the leftists in Alabama for having the Ten Commandments posted in his courtroom. He refused to take down the Ten Commandments plaque from his courtroom, and became known as “The Ten Commandments Judge.”

Judge Moore has been elected as the Chief Justice of the Alabama State Supreme Court twice by the Alabama voters. On both of these elections, Judge Moore stood ardently for God, family, and country. He was removed twice as the Chief Justice of the Alabama State Supreme Court. On the first occasion, he refused a Federal Judge’s court order to remove a Ten Commandments monument that he placed in the Alabama Sate Supreme Court building. He recently was removed as Chief Justice because he stood against “same sex marriage” in the state of Alabama.

Judge Moore is running for the US Senate. He has won the Republican primary, and is now running against the Democrat in the general election. We need to support this dedicated Christian with prayer and financial support. If you can, make your check payable and send to: Judge Roy Moore for US Senate, PO Box 5032, Montgomery, Alabama 36103.
