American Legion Post 3 Generals defeated Florence Post 1 (3-0) Saturday afternoon in Sumter in the Opening Game of the American Legion State Tournament.

Kyle Van Hoff, Right hander from Eastside H.S. walked one, and struck out six, and retired the last 16 batters in a row.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, with one out, Jordan Ford, Wade Hampton H.S. doubled to left field. Will Robertson followed with an RBI single to make it 1-0 Generals.

The Generals added two runs in the seventh when Brooks Yeager, former Wade Hampton player, led off the inning with a double and Jackson Norrell followed with a single. Norrell stole second to put runners on second and third with one out. Sam Jones Eastside H.S. singled up the middle to score Yeager and Norrell to make it 3-0.

The game between Sumter Post 15 and Greenville Post 3 was postponed to Monday because of rain on Sunday.

Sumter Post 15 defeated Greenville Post 3 (11-8) on Monday in Sumter. Greenville is now in a loser bracket.
