INDEPENDENT CONSERVATIVE VOICE OF
UPSTATE SOUTH CAROLINA FOR OVER 30 YEARS!

The Bible depicts our world as a place of darkness – a world controlled by the “rulers of the darkness of this age” (Eph. 6:12). I sincerely think if you look around it would not be at all difficult to “see” the darkness across our nation, and across the world. In the midst of this spiritual night-time, the Christian must stand out in sharp contrast. Because we have been called “out of darkness into His marvelous light” (1 Peter 2:9), we have an important mission. The Lord said clearly, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matt 5:16).

In a sense, we are lighthouse keepers to the world. So many people are lost – floundering like ships on the raging sea. When we realize that our job is to make sure the “light” in us is visible to direct, we will see the value of maintaining a holy and exemplary life. There was a French lighthouse keeper who worked in the coastal city of Calais illustrates the diligence we should display in keeping our testimony shining. When he was asked, “What if one of your lights goes out in the lighthouse?” He responded, “NEVER!” He explained that if he allowed that to happen, he would live in fear of being blamed for the danger he would cause the ships. “NEVER!” he repeated. “Sometimes I feel as if the whole world is looking at my light.”

Jesus said, “A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden” (Matt. 5:14). We, each one of us who proclaims to be a follower of Christ are like that city – observed by a watching world. This is why our actions and words must honor Christ. When our light shines, it directs people to Jesus.

Even with Trump making incredible changes for good, America light is hanging in the balance. There is a certain dimming taking place. We have forgotten our founding principles which included submitting (cooperating) with God. George Washington in his Inaugural Address pledged America would so submit, and acknowledged it was the Lord who brought us through a terrible nightmare of war and Revolution. He clearly stated this new nation would live for Him, and if we forgot who it was that created this exceptional nation, then the Lord could withdraw His covenant and blessings. Where do you think we are today? Do you think the light on the hill which is America is dimming? I believe Trump was given to us so we could have the gift of some time to decide to whom do we serve – God or man?

I pray Americans find their light again and let it shine.
