What, you may ask, is a social “faux pas”? Two dictionary definitions should suffice to explain:
- “An embarrassing or tactless act or remark in a social situation;
- A significant or embarrassing error or mistake—a blunder”
To which we might add my definition of a “political ‘faux pas’:
- Any verbal statement, political act, principled stand, support of the U.S. Constitution, defense of Christianity, or admitted vote for the ‘wrong’ candidate that offends the easily offended and brain damaged vermin of the left that have infested and infected the so-called ‘social media’.

SCOFFERS GONNA SCOFF
By Karen Rene’ Pryer
From the web site: And We Know, July 21, 2021
“Scoffers gonna scoff at us—This is no surprise.
When heads are buried in the sand—denial is demise!
Conspiracies are rampant And the truth is hard to find,
But even when you find it, No one backs you from behind.
The world rejected Jesus As the world rejects us now.
The truth is viewed as crazy, And is misconstrued somehow.
But when we stand up to the world And lift our voices high—
The love of Jesus radiates The truth we testify!
When scoffers come a scoffing—To tell you you’re insane—
Just know your toiling for the truth Will never be in vain!”

One advantage of attaining the status of “senior citizen” (or “old geezer” as some describe us) is that we’ve stored a whole lot of history in that remarkable computer tucked away inside our skulls. Some of us seem to lose the ability to “retrieve our memory files” as we age, but I’ve been blessed with a still fairly intact memory bank that goes back pretty far (I’ve traded good memory at age 84 for lots of back, leg, and shoulder pain, and a bit of heart trouble, but I consider that to be an acceptable trade off).
Many remarkable, history making, joy inducing, grief causing, incredulity testing, and just plain ‘what in the world happened’ events have affected all of us who have advanced beyond mere “puppyhood”. Lots of “experienced citizens” I talk with frequently can remember events in their lives that go way, way back. My earliest memory, I think, goes back to the winter of 1940/41, when my beautiful late 20’s mother pulled her just-turned-four year old son (me) on a sled out in a snowstorm around the neighborhood where we lived in Lakewood, Ohio (a suburb of Cleveland). I can still recall the joy we both seemed to feel during that chilly outing. I remember that it was almost dusk, and I can still see her breath in the cold air and still feel the snowflakes hitting my face. I recall that she spoke with me; I only wish I could remember what she said. I have some memories of sitting in a “high chair”, probably long before that memorable sled ride, but the dates elude me.

Last time we reviewed a bit of the hidden and treacherous history of the now less secret organization known as The Council on Foreign Relations, founded in 1921 in New York City. So why do I accuse this sinister “power behind the throne” of being treacherous, guilty of treason, and the proven enemy of our Constitutional Republic? Well, let me tell you some of the anti-freedom, anti-Constitution programs and policies that the CFR has been promoting for many decades. I refer you to the great article by William Jasper in the June 7, 2021 issue of The New American magazine (from which I quote freely), for the details of the perfidy committed by this group of anti-Americans:

The year 2021 is the 100th anniversary of the founding of The Council On Foreign Relations, an organization that has long been considered by “those in the know” as the true “power behind the throne” of U.S. politics. This immense power has been exercised by the CFR over that entire century, including especially within the Biden Administration (and within ALL presidential administrations since 1921 to a lesser or greater degree). As William Jasper wrote in the June 7, 2021 issue of the New American magazine: “The CFR does indeed wield unparalleled influence in political, financial, business, media, and academic circles, and is regularly showered with accolades by ‘the great and the good’. It is the public face, the brain trust, and the central nervous system of what critics refer to as “the Deep State”.

In January of 1915, her body was carried through Calabar, Nigeria in the most spectacular funeral procession that West Africa had ever experienced. She was mourned by vast numbers of the citizens of Calabar, men, women, and children, as a beloved woman who had impacted and changed the lives of multitudes; a woman who had changed the very course of history by single-handedly (with God’s Power) transformed one of the darkest regions in Africa into the light through bringing the Gospel of Christ to the people; a woman who took seriously our Lord’s command to proclaim His Gospel of love and eternal life to those who were lost.

“A Republic” – Which We Don’t Appear to Want to Keep – Part 2

In part 1 of this article, I covered some of the wisdom proclaimed by Americans of earlier times regarding the FACT that our nation was originally founded as a constitutional republic, and NOT as a democracy, which our Founders rightly feared as one of the WORST forms of government. I refer you again to the man who wrote at length about “republics and democracies”, one of my long-time heroes, John F. McManus, the President Emeritus of The John Birch Society, and author of the article in the January 18, 2021 issue of The New American magazine, titled, “ A Republic, If You Can Keep It”, from which, once again, I quote freely.

(I’m indebted to one of my long-time heroes, John F. McManus, patriot extraordinaire and the long time President, now President Emeritus, of The John Birch Society, for the inspiration for this article, and I quote freely from his article titled: “A Republic, If You Can Keep It”, published January 18, 2021 in the best and most informative bi-weekly news magazine in this nation—The New American magazine. (Subscriptions available at JBS. Org., or free with membership in the John Birch Society).
Fisher Ames (1758-1808) served his new nation as a member of the House of Representatives from Massachusetts for the entire eight years that George Washington served as our first President (1789-1797). Ames, a dedicated patriot, had some cogent—and accurate—observations about “democracy” that need to be dredged from the darkness of liberal mendacity and the perfidy of putrid politicians and mediocre “talking heads” who love to mindlessly prattle about the “glories of our democracy”. For example, consider the following observations that Fisher Ames left for posterity:

I heard my mother talking with someone she called “doctor”. Their words were muffled and difficult to understand in my condition. I heard my mother asking her “doctor” if I would feel any pain. I heard him reply that he really didn’t know with certainty if I would feel pain or not, but that he was sure that I wouldn’t. I heard my mother ask her “doctor” whether or not he ever thought about whether people in my condition felt pain when he did the “medical procedure” on them—the same one he was about to do on me. Her “doctor” seemed to hesitate, and I heard my mother ask him the same question again.

(I’m indebted to the book, What If America Were a Christian Nation Again?, written by my hero of the Christian Faith, the late Rev. D. James Kennedy, with Jerry Newcombe, published in 2003 by Thomas Nelson Publishers in Nashville, Tennessee, for some of the inspiration for this article, and I quote somewhat freely from it. Most of the words are mine, some are from Dr. Kennedy. The original admonitions are from the One who made all things, including THE UNBORN CHILD in its mother’s womb, come to be, and is the One who looks at his created children, points His finger at them—at US—and says SHAME—SHAME ON YOU! I cringe even as I write this, for how long will THE CREATOR withhold His justice from America?)

Almost Forgotten Americans Who Really Were Heroes - Part 4

In the first three parts of this series, we’ve been following the travails and the courage of a small band of Northern Cheyenne people, as they bravely decided to leave the harsh and soul-destroying conditions of the reservation in Indian Territory (now Oklahoma) to which they had been forcibly relocated by the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the U.S. Army, and begin a 1500 mile trek back to their homeland in the territories of Wyoming and Montana. Having fought several skirmishes and one major battle with the army, by the end of October, 1878, Chief Dull Knife had decided to separate from Chief Little Wolf and take about 150 of his people, who no longer wanted to try to evade the U.S. Army, and head for Fort Robinson in the northwestern corner of Nebraska, which had been established in 1874 as a base of operations against the Northern Cheyenne and the Lakota Sioux people, where they trusted that the military and the Indian Bureau would provide sufficient supplies to keep them alive.

Back in 1964, a film titled Cheyenne Autumn was released. Starring Richard Widmark and Carol Baker, it was an effort, only partly accurate historically, to tell the story that I’ve been trying to tell in Parts 1 & 2 of this series—of the noble attempt on the part of the Northern Cheyenne People to leave their inhospitable Southern reservation in modern-day Oklahoma (then called Indian Territory), into which they had been forced by the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the U.S. Army, and return to their homelands in Wyoming and Montana Territory (referred to in history as the Exodus of the Northern Cheyenne). That these people even had to return to a homeland from which they had been ripped by the forces of “Manifest Destiny” was a dark stain on American history—that some of them actually completed their return was inspiring, a worthy example of the triumph of the human spirit, wherein the desire for freedom can never be quenched.

Perfidy is a word that isn’t in the regular vocabulary of many people. I came across it many years ago, the context of which now eludes me. I’m sure that I first read it sometime in the last century, in some wise writer’s discussion of the slimy politicians who infest our nation. Before exploring how this word has so dominated our modern world, let’s first define the word, perfidy, which comes from the Latin, “perfidia”, which means faithlessness.
Oxford Dictionary: (noun): deceitfulness, untrustworthiness;
Webster’s Dictionary: (noun): the quality or state of being faithless or disloyal; An act or an instance of disloyalty or faithlessness or treachery.

As of last September 17, 2020, our nation—the United States of America—had existed as a Constitutional Republic for 233 years, thanks to the wisdom, the faith, the fortitude, and the willingness to reach compromises, on the part of the Founders who signed the 1787 constitution and, a few years later, our Bill of Rights, the first ten amendments to that constitution. During those 233 years our venerable constitution has weathered many attacks against it, and has been amended a total of 27 times. Despite the hordes of calumnies directed against our constitution by mental midgets and Godless collectivists, and especially against those inspired men who codified many of the God-given rights enshrined therein, it has stood the test of time by providing a national “blueprint” for the governance of our nation through war and peace, through good and bad economic times, through disasters caused by human foibles and corruption, through the shadowy conspiracies of “Un-Americans” who were—and still are-- determined to end this “experiment in self-government” in favor of some form of collectivist coercion.

In Part 1 of this series, I introduced you to two famous Chiefs of the Northern Cheyenne people, namely “Little Wolf” and “Morning Star”, who was better known by the name he was given by the Sioux people: “Dull Knife”. During the last half of the 19th century, the concept of “Manifest Destiny”, or the expansion of the American experiment from the Atlantic to the Pacific, began to seriously clash with the concepts entertained by most of the Native Peoples that they had the right to continue to live on their traditional lands as they always had. It became obvious to both sides, as this century unfolded, that one or the other had to emerge victorious, with its vision of the future the only accepted one. As usual in the flow of human history, those with the best technology and the strongest motivations emerged victorious.
