A just released survey of Muslims living in the United States discovered that a majority of those surveyed (51 percent) agreed that Muslims in America should have the choice of being governed according to shariah or the United States Constitution. When the same question was asked of the broad American population, the contrast was drastic. An overwhelming majority, 86 percent of Americans polled held that shariah should not displace the United States Constitution. More than half of US Muslims polled also believe that they should have their own tribunals to apply shariah. Only 39 percent of Muslims polled said Muslims in the U. S. should be subject to American courts.
Nearly 1 in 4 of the Muslims polled that are living in the United States believed that, “It is legitimate to use violence to punish those who give offense to Islam by, for example, portraying the prophet Mohammed.”
The Center for Security Policy findings suggest that we have a serious problem that is being ignored and misrepresented. The American people are being led by the government and religious organizations that are benefiting financially from the influx of Muslims as refugees to believe that there is no danger from shariah. The facts prove otherwise.
The Pew Research Center estimates that the number of Muslims in the United States was 2.75 million in 2011 and growing at a rate of 80 to 90 thousand per year. Pew estimates that the number of Muslims residing in the United States today would total at least 3 million.
Frank J. Gaffney, Jr., president of the Center for Security Policy, noted that thousands of Muslims living in the United States today “believe that shariah is the Muslim God Allah’s law that Muslims must follow and impose worldwide by Jihad.”
Gaffney concluded: “It is incumbent on the many American Muslims who want neither to live under the brutal repression of shariah nor to impose it on anybody else to work with the rest of us who revere and uphold the supremacy of the Constitution of the United States in protecting our nation against the Islamic supremacists and their Jihad.”
Muslims have been demonstrating in Greenville to offset the negative image they are getting from the mass murders in California, Paris and elsewhere. Their message is that most Muslims and followers of Islam are kind friendly people and good neighbors. That is not an easy story to sell to people who pay attention to national and world events.
The American born Muslim who had his friendly neighbor purchase guns for him and took his immigrant wife to murder 14 of his fellow workers while they enjoyed a Christmas party was believed to be a nice guy until he pulled the trigger and began killing his fellow workers.
This young man was trusted with the lives of hundreds of public school students. He inspected their food. And the sanitation of their food facilities for the County.
How are we or the government agencies we pay and trust to protect us to separate the good Muslims from the bad? The Obama strategy is protecting the killers and leaving the American citizens vulnerable.
If we are to survive as a nation and protect our citizens from wholesale slaughter by crazed killers motivated by Islamic radical clergy, we must abandon political correctness and begin a serious, effective, practice of profiling. That could save lives and maybe motivate the “good” Muslims to help identify the “bad” Muslims.
