INDEPENDENT CONSERVATIVE VOICE OF
UPSTATE SOUTH CAROLINA

The lawlessness we have witnessed in the streets of Ferguson, Missouri, and New York, is not about justice being done, nor about fairness of the law. Far from it. lt was about young black men who believe that affronting the law is cool and macho. What happened in Ferguson was tragic, and avoidable.

Whether Michael Brown was a teenager, or unarmed, is irrelevant. He had only to step upon the sidewalk and keep walking, as the officer asked him to. There was nothing intimidating or unmanly about that request, but when he chose to confront the officer, he confronted the law, and he took it a step too far. At eighteen years old, he knew the law. He was no innocent child, as the media tried to picture him, and he was far from helpless. As a result, the country and the rest of the world have watched the sickening demonstrations of rioting and burning, and irrational displays of hate, and disrespect for the law. Blame has been heaped upon the officer who was doing his job, and defending himself (officers still have that right).

God help this country in the future if officers of the law are forced by the politically correct dummies to sweet-talk every black offender to get his confidence, rather than arrest him for wrongdoing. Are policemen to become psychics? Are they to employ sensitivity while being punched around by every young upstart who wants to show how tough he is? Will it come to pass that the courts will have to indict an officer regardless of the evidence, just to placate a mob? ls that the kind of peace we want?

Look, listen, and read, and you’ll see that it’s the media, both electronic and print, who controls the thinking of many Americans. They are opinion makers, not newsmen. They can build a glowing reputation or destroy a man’s name with one report. It was they who repeated, over and over, “Unarmed defenseless teenager, shot and killed by white policeman.” It was they who incited the riots while law-abiding citizens of both races watched with sick disgust.

These demonstrations are symptomatic of how far we’ve leaned left, and how much we are governed by simpering idiots, who believe that rewarding thugs with what they demand will bring equality, and that placating rogue nations will bring peace.

We’ve had a taste of anarchy and it was ugly. What will two more years bring? Stay tuned.
