INDEPENDENT CONSERVATIVE VOICE OF
UPSTATE SOUTH CAROLINA

Congress Has Agreed on the first Six Permanent Appropriation Bills for Fiscal Year 2024

Congress has agreed on the first six permanent appropriations bills for fiscal 2024. These bills amount to 1,050 pages, $450 billion in spending, and would fund the Departments of Agriculture, Interior, Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, Veterans Affairs, Justice, Commerce, and Energy. These bills utterly fail to reduce spending, at a time when the national debt is rising by $1 trillion every 100 days. Furthermore, all of the departments listed above are unconstitutional, as is the vast majority of this spending.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer celebrated the agreement as "good news," since the bills avoid "[spending] cuts or poison pill riders." Meanwhile, Senator Rick Scott noted that the bills contain 605 pages of earmarks, and Representative Thomas Massie pointed out that it will allow the federal government to develop edible plant vaccines. Speaker Mike Johnson will attempt to pass these bills by suspending the rules, requiring a two-thirds majority vote while bypassing the conservative Freedom Caucus.

Contact your U.S. representative and senators, and urge them boldly restore fiscal responsibility and slash all unconstitutional spending. If all unconstitutional spending were cut, our nation's fiscal situation would quickly and dramatically improve; Congress must take immediate action to boldly rein in spending and slash all unconstitutional expenditures instead of caving to demands for big-government spending.

Federal spending is out of control — and the vast majority of it is blatantly unconstitutional. If not stopped, this fiscal recklessness will destroy our Republic. Congress must act immediately to drastically reduce its bloated, unconstitutional spending spree.

Contact your U.S. representative and senators, and urge them to take bold action to restore fiscal responsibility and slash all unconstitutional federal spending.
