According to the census there are millions of Muslims in the United States. As of 2010 there were more than 2,100 mosques in this country. There are 62 mosques in Houston, Texas; cowboys and prayer rugs?

Then there is Dearborn, Michigan. It is hard to get an exact figure on the population and religious practices in places like Dearborn, because there is a strong element of the locals there who support Sharia law. That means, among other things, women will not speak to strangers who knock on the door asking questions, even about a government census. In fact, under Sharia law women can’t do a lot of things that American women have come to feel is their right. Do you believe the Hobby Lobby decision saying you can only get 16 out of 20 contraceptive devices paid for by your employer is a “war against women?” Surely you jest; you want to see a war against women, look at life under Sharia law.

Here again the public is being ill-served by the lame stream media who will not report on what is actually happening in our country. We were founded by men of faith; we have always been a Judeo-Christian country, which simply means that the largest segment of the population practices a form of Christianity. But you would never know it by watching the media, reading the press or listening to Barack Obama. The President ignores our history because it presents an inconvenient truth.

And since the progressive base has taken control of the organizations whose duty it is to inform the public, we are not getting the truth or even perspective. For example, do you know what Sharia law is and what it demands of women? The term “second class citizens” does not begin to describe how women are viewed under Sharia law. Did you know women can be killed under Sharia law for what amounts to a simple public display of affection? You want to see a war against women look where it is actually happening. Have you ever seen a special report from any news source about Sharia law? Did you know that Sharia law has been used as a defense in American courts of law? How exactly would that work – two sets of laws for people?

Even if it were not totally discriminatory against women, Sharia law has no place in this country…period. You want to live here you must adjust to our country, accept our laws and learn our language. If you won’t accept that, move somewhere else.

But Barack Obama doesn’t agree with me. The President, who was raised as a Muslim, assures us that “Islam is a religion of peace.” Tell that to the people who were maimed and the families of those killed by the Muslim brothers who bombed the Boston Marathon. It seems to me that words, even from a President, are scant comfort after actions like that. But the progressives and their allies in the media will scold anyone who asks questions about Islam.

The modus operandi of progressives is emotional appeal and personal attack. Since they don’t have facts to support their arguments, they resort to emotion. So Hobby Lobby is part of a “war on women.”  Such over the top rhetoric is the call sign of the progressive way, fact-free emotional appeals designed to obscure real issues and in turn have a chilling effect on discussion.

It is very telling, for example, that Brandeis University refused to let a woman, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, speak at their graduation this year. She has personal knowledge of Sharia law and no doubt had a message to deliver about her experience. We need to hear more about that. But Muslims complained and Brandeis withdrew the invitation to speak. And because the progressive media has abdicated its responsibility, you didn’t hear much about that story.

How many of the Muslims already living in this country are “radicalized” and believe in Sharia law? And if the vast majority of Muslims are, in fact, peace loving, why don’t they speak out against those radicals who commit terror in the name of Allah?

As Abraham Lincoln said, “To sin by silence when they should protest, makes cowards of men;” and Americans have never been cowards.

And if you are not a progressive they will attack your beliefs too. Don’t be afraid to defend yourself. In spite of what they say, you have the high moral ground. Say it with me: Amen.
