A View of the Ukraine War through Russian Eyes
Vladimir Putin - February 21, 2023, Moscow.
According to Russian scholar and Princeton and New York University professor, Stephen F. Cohen, since 2008 and becoming more intense since 2014, the U.S. political-media establishment has engaged in an ongoing demonization campaign against Russian President Vladimir Putin. Cohen has warned:
“The personal vilification of Russia’s president is propelling the new Cold War toward hot war, poisoning American politics, and degrading US media.”
Just two days before the Russian invasion of Ukraine, conservative Hoover Institute Scholar and frequent Fox News commentator, Victor Davis Hanson, warned President Biden to stop demonizing Putin. Demonization of adversaries severely limits diplomatic alternatives for future peace. It is thoughtless, arrogant, and stupid, and causes unnecessary loss of life.

Last time I ended with the contention that “neither of our two main political parties is the same NOW as they were originally…”. The perception has been that what we see today—the Democrat and Republican Parties as they currently exist—is what they have always been. But that is not the case. If we were able to “time travel” back to the last quarter of the 18th century and to most of the 19th century, the time when our present political parties were being conceived and organized, we would not recognize them. If our Founding Generation came back today to the nation they founded in 1787, I contend that not only would they be shocked at what we, their political and spiritual descendants, have allowed befalling their dream but that they would also accuse the US of allowing their visions of constitutional liberty and limited government, that most of them sacrificed so much to bequeath to their future countrymen, to be usurped, violated, and virtually destroyed. And they’d be correct in their accusations.

So Ketel went aboard the Westwind disguised as a Viking. The guttural nature of his speech, however, raised some instant suspicions among the crew. Some said, “Surely this man is a Frisian whose Norse loyalties cannot be trusted.” Others said he must be a Dane. Soon enough they knew he was a troll, for one man had seen his tail hanging from his cloak. But the men trusted their Captain and inquired if he knew the nature of his passenger. Anskar quickly gathered and easily calmed the astonished crew with high praises of Ketel’s nature, accomplishments, and usefulness.

On September 26, 2022, six HC explosive packages, each with the power of a one-thousand pound bomb or torpedo, exploded beneath the Baltic Sea near the Danish island of Bornholm. Both of the double-pipe Nordstream 1 lines and one of the double-pipe Nordstream 2 were rendered inoperable. There was also massive environmental damage from gasses released into the water. Nordstream 1 had been supplying 40 percent of Germany’s natural gas before the Ukraine War sanctions. Nordstream 2 had not opened yet. The $25 billion plus pipelines were 51 percent owned by the Russian energy company Gazprom, and the rest by German, Dutch, British, Swiss, and Austrian energy companies.

I could also have stated in this article’s title that “the loyalty of the Republican Party to our U.S. Constitution for many decades, and even under its supposedly “reformed” current leadership in the U.S. House, hasn’t been, and may not be, much better”! (Only time will tell). But for now I’ll proceed with this condemnation of what is more accurately known today as The Klan of New Bolsheviks (formerly known as the ‘Democrat Party’), with no apologies if I offend a portion of our American electorate. I ask my readers to keep in mind the old truism that often “the truth hurts”, and if that truth offends those of you who are perennial and unapologetic Democrats, so be it. As the long-suffering Capt. Rhett Butler finally declared at the end of Gone With The Wind, “Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a …..” Well, I assume you can finish his memorable quote, which adequately expresses my ‘concerns’ over whether or not you who call yourselves faithful Democrats (or as I charitably call you—“Dumbocrats”), can make any kind of logical counter-arguments to my contentions.
