Senator Schumer Introduces Marijuana Legalization Bill
- By Eagle Forum
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) introduced a bill to legalize marijuana this week. The Cannabis Administration and Opportunity Act is being advertised as a simple bill- one that loosens federal regulation of the Schedule I controlled substance. The nearly 300-page bill tells a different story and one that ignores the dangerous impacts of legalization.
Marijuana proponents seem to believe that a good trade-off for legalization is high taxation of the crop. Sen. Schumer’s marijuana bill implements a tax schedule that eventually reaches 25 percent of each cannabis product. However, states that have implemented this policy have seen an increase of illegal use instead of the income they expected. After six years of California’s action to legalize recreational marijuana and impose high taxes, up to three quarters of current sales are from unregistered dealers. Even Oregon’s marijuana market is made up of 70% of illegal sales. Legal dealers simply cannot compete with the black market.

Trudeau is Guilty of 'Cultural Genocide'
- By Christian Newswire
NEW YORK -- Catholic League president Bill Donohue raises questions about the policies of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau:
Pope Francis is in Canada apologizing for Christians who cooperated with Canadian government officials in assimilating Indigenous persons into society. The most serious charge against them, as outlined on p. 1 of the Introduction to the Report by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada, is that of "cultural genocide."
"Cultural genocide" is defined as the destruction of the "structures and practices" of a particular population; it seeks to eradicate their "political and social institutions."
On this score, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is carrying out "cultural genocide" against his own people. Instead of touting the Report, he should spend his time applying the same analysis to his own policies. If he did, he would step down immediately.

Pray for America's Students
- By Lt. Gen. (US Army-Ret.) William G. Boykin
The tragic school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, which took the lives of 19 students and two teachers just days before summer break, is a stark reminder that we live in a broken and fallen world.
As a grandfather, my heart grieves for the families who are facing incredible loss in what should have been a joyous time of celebrating the completion of another school year and a milestone in their children's lives.
As followers of Christ, we know God is the source of comfort in times of sorrow. Psalm 34:18 reminds us that "the Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."

Selling out on Marriage Will Haunt the GOP
- By Suzanne Bowdey - The Washington Stand
Never underestimate the Republican Party’s ability to self-destruct. That’s the one thing years of cultural battles have taught everyone. Heading into November with the elections on a silver platter, the men and women who rebranded themselves as the forces of anti-wokeness have suddenly gone soft on an issue that should be a political no-brainer: marriage. After seven years of letting the court take the heat for redefining history’s oldest institution, a surprising number of Republicans are making a fatal mistake — believing they can win back Congress by sounding just as radical as the party set to lose it.

The Question of the Age of the Earth
- By Charles Creager Jr.
You have probably heard it claimed that science has shown that the Earth is 4 1/2 billion years old. You may have also heard that the Bible says the earth is 6000 years old. Now these two figures cannot be reconciled without doing great damage to the Bible. However, it needs to be noted that the problem is not actual science, but atheistic mythology being pushed under the guise of science. The simple fact is that you cannot date an unobserved event in the past without making assumptions about the past. Furthermore, any such date is only as accurate as the assumptions being made.
