Does US Rep. William Timmons Support DEI?

In recent months, several educational institutions have been eliminating their Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs. These decisions were largely made in response to state bans and the discontinuation of public funds for DEI programs. There is also a growing public disapproval of activities related to "political or social activism" within public colleges. This trend has become more pronounced, particularly among Conservative elected officials and candidates, who are less supportive of DEI programs in higher education. As a result, many states are taking measures to have these programs removed.

During the 2024 local primaries, the fact that DEI organizations and programs, no matter where they surface, promote discrimination and push liberal and progressive politics, DEI is becoming a hot topic and a serious concern among Republican voters.

On May 13, 2021, incumbent Congressman William R. Timmons from South Carolina’s Congressional District 4 participated in a Congressional hearing as Vice Chairman of the Select Committee on the Modernization of Congress. The hearing was conducted by the US House of Representatives Select Committee on the Modernization of Congress and focused on the topic of recruiting, empowering, and retaining a diverse congressional staff.

During his opening statement, Congressman Timmons highlighted the significance of modernizing Congress and improving its hiring practices. He stated, "In the 116th Congress, we recommended that the Office of Diversity and Inclusion be made permanent, and I am pleased to see that this recommendation has been implemented and that the office is now a permanent part of Congress."

Timmons responded to his initial support for modernizing Congress by advocating for investments in and the development of a talented and diverse workforce that accurately reflects the communities they represent.

We are aware that these decisions are not based on true diversity and inclusion, especially when it comes to liberal ideologies. These programs are often natural habitats to progressive and social activists who are known to harbor animosity towards other races. They exploit these DEI organizations and programs to breed discriminatory beliefs and indoctrinate our children and students on how to discriminate and accept their hatred for another race.

While we have states like Florida, Texas, Utah, North Carolina, South Dakota, and Tennessee that have taken measures against this woke agenda and radical activism, this begs the question: Where does our South Carolina US Rep. William Timmons stand on DEI?

Given that he supports its replication in the Washington swamp, does he support it also in our learning programs and higher educational institutions? And if he does not support DEI in educational organizations, why does he support it in Congress?
