COLUMBIA, S.C. – Governor Henry McMaster, Senate President Harvey Peeler, and House Speaker Jay Lucas today penned a letter to Frank Rainwater, Executive Director of the South Carolina Revenue and Fiscal Affairs Office (RFA) requesting that RFA issue a report on South Carolina’s outdated education funding formula and to suggest a new funding model that meets 11 requirements, as detailed in the letter.

In addition, strong majorities of Americans support protection of religious freedom and think that people of faith should be able to serve as judges and other government appointees.

The shutdown is going to get more painful as it continues. Lots of conservatives had said they haven’t seen any signs of the shutdown affecting them. Only the most willfully naive will continue to say that as the shutdown continues. Ever longer lines at airports, etc will start to become more noticeable. Economically, things will become more noticeable.

Director Hartley Powell to Continue Leading S.C. Department of Revenue

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Governor Henry McMaster today announced that Hartley Powell will continue serving as the director of the South Carolina Department of Revenue (SCDOR). Director Powell was first appointed to his current position by former Governor Nikki Haley in November of 2016. Prior to becoming director of SCDOR, Powell was principal of the accounting and professional service firm KPMG and served for ten years at the South Carolina Department of Commerce.
