Break Specialists: GOP Uses Recess to Move Judges
- By Tony Perkins - Family Research Council
It's no wonder Democrats were desperate to get out of Washington and onto the campaign trail. Of the 35 Senate seats on the ballot this year, Chuck Schumer's (D-N.Y.) party is defending 26. So when Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) agreed to recess two weeks early, he made sure to exact a price: 15 more judicial confirmations. Now, after tearing through those, McConnell is making it clear -- he's not close to finished.

The Upstate Republican Women celebrated the NFRW Literacy Month in September. In honor of Barbara Bush and Mamie Eisenhower, the women adopted Katy Freemon's first-grade class with a monthly subscription to the Scholastic News Monthly Book Club. Along with this, they presented The Superintendent W. Burke Royster, Ph.D., with several books to be donated to the AJ Whittenburg Library. The National Federation of Republican Women designate September as National Literacy Month in honor of these two First Ladies of the United States who believed so strongly in that being able to read is the foundation of success.

The Electoral College Debate
- By Walter Williams
Democratic socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, seeking to represent New York's 14th Congressional District, has called for the abolition of the Electoral College. Her argument came on the heels of the Senate's confirming Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. She was lamenting the fact that Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Samuel Alito, nominated by George W. Bush, and Justices Neil Gorsuch and Kavanaugh, nominated by Donald Trump, were court appointments made by presidents who lost the popular vote but won the Electoral College vote.

Don't Let Bullies Suppress Our Free Speech
- By Eagle Forum
After weeks of the Democrats waging war on the confirmation process of Brett Kavanaugh, he was confirmed 50-48 mostly along party lines. The confirmation came a week later than planned after an FBI investigation was called. The investigation found nothing new, but gave Senators who were on the fence the extra motivation they needed to vote for him.
The fanfare is not over yet, though. Democrats have no plans of letting this win go, and Republicans are furious at the political shenanigans that continue to take place. Democrats have continued to fuel violent protesters who have harassed Senators in public, sent extreme messages to their families, and tried to break into the Supreme Court.
