Every once in a while, the Biden administration likes to pretend that it's listening to reason. Don't buy it. That's the message from conservatives, who are trying to keep parents from falling for the White House's line that it's backing away from critical race theory in the classroom. That's the impression Education Secretary Miguel Cardona was going for when he said that the department made an "error" promoting a radical group's CRT theories. Some people cheered, thinking the White House had finally seen the light. But if it sounds too good to be true, experts warn, that's because it is.

Cuba Should Be Free
- By Mike Scruggs
Briefing and Personal Notes on Cuba
Between 1953 and 1957, when I was attending College Park High School near Atlanta, my father was a Flight Superintendent for Delta Airlines and made regular trips to Havana and Caracas to make sure everything needed for operating flights and supporting flight crews was running smoothly. When in Havana, he usually stayed where the Delta flight crews stayed, at the large and luxurious hotels of Havana. He often brought back postcards and photos. They made a strong impression on me as the ultimate enjoyment of beauty and prosperity. That beauty and prosperity would soon crumble under Communist mismanagement and cruel tyrannies.
Wild + Free
- By Crystal Ellis
When I began teaching my kids this past year, I had no idea I would be the one doing the most learning.
I’ve learned that the most rich of academic lessons usually take place on their time and in an environment they love.
I’ve learned to reclaim their childhood, refusing to let them grow up too fast as society would have it. Childhood should be chalked full of imagination, tree climbing, rock skipping, broken twigs, forts, fuzzy caterpillars, streams of water that you can see through (or maybe not), mossy covered rocks, tons of riveting books, stops in the middle of the night on road trips to look at the stars, dirt between toes, sand castles, comic drawings, random dancing outside with cousins, hide and seek, mud puddles, and all other kinds of shenanigans that some would call a waste of time.
“A Republic” – Which We Don’t Appear to Want to Keep – Part 2
- By W.H. Lamb
In part 1 of this article, I covered some of the wisdom proclaimed by Americans of earlier times regarding the FACT that our nation was originally founded as a constitutional republic, and NOT as a democracy, which our Founders rightly feared as one of the WORST forms of government. I refer you again to the man who wrote at length about “republics and democracies”, one of my long-time heroes, John F. McManus, the President Emeritus of The John Birch Society, and author of the article in the January 18, 2021 issue of The New American magazine, titled, “ A Republic, If You Can Keep It”, from which, once again, I quote freely.
Counties Still Paying Lawmakers for ‘Phantom’ Delegation Offices
- By Rick Brundrett - The Nerve
Last year, S.C. Sen. Kent Williams of Marion County reported receiving a collective $17,060 in legislative delegation payments from neighboring Dillon and Florence counties, parts of which are in his Senate district.
Another longtime lawmaker, Rep. Jackie Hayes of Dillon County, received $12,500 in 2020 – the same amount paid to Williams by Dillon County, records show.
For years, Williams and Hayes have been among a group of lawmakers getting payments from counties that don’t provide legislative delegation offices.
SALTY SEZ – Gagged?
- By Ray Simmons
I’m scratching my head: I have to be careful and not talk about certain things that need talking about. I think the whole world is having problems with this. Doctors tell you they can’t prescribe certain medications that are needed to fight certain diseases. Lawyers are saying they can’t sue about certain goings-on because judges are saying they won’t hear certain cases. Even our Supreme Court refuses to hear cases about constitutional issues that should be settled there. Just makes a fellow wonder about what’s really happening, who’s telling the truth, or trying to, and who’s telling the lies. Even the rare news stations that one thought honest have taken positions along with the fake-news broadcasters. I keep waiting for apples to start falling up from the trees instead of falling down, but the climate changers haven’t yet changed the law of gravity. I suspect they are working on it though, they’ve already done away with common sense. What really alarms me most is the seeming failure of the American people to recognize the fact that we are in a war greater than any war we have ever fought.
Biden's Vaccine Push: A Mandate with Destiny
- By Tony Perkins - Family Research Council
Joe Biden isn't a doctor, and he's certainly not your doctor. But that hasn't stopped the president of the United States from making every Americans' health decisions for them. The "scare-monger in chief," as former Civil Rights Division leader Roger Severino calls him, has decided that when it comes to COVID, the facts, the law, and the science don't matter. You will be vaccinated, this Democratic leadership says -- and surrender every constitutional right to privacy, employment, personal safety, and free speech until you do.
How the Left Has Used COVID-19 to Bankrupt the United States
- By Stephen Moore
I have never bought the conspiracy theories that COVID-19 was a diabolical political plot to undermine the country. But what is apparent with each passing week is that the virus has been the springboard for the left's agenda to transform America in a way that Sen. Bernie Sanders, Michael Moore or Rachel Maddow could have never imagined.
Without COVID-19, President Joe Biden would never have been elected, of course. So, for the left, the virus defeated former President Donald Trump. COVID-19 is now the gateway to the left's utopian agenda of multitrillion-dollar climate policies, hyperregulation of the economy, the rebirth of the welfare state and a radical redistribution of income.
The Government's Ham-Handed COVID-19 Messaging Has Hit a New Low
- By Neil Patel
The U.S. government's inconsistent public messaging on the coronavirus came to a crescendo this week as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention abruptly reversed course on the use of masks by vaccinated people. The sudden backtracking follows a pattern of misleading and incoherent government health guidance that has led to a general erosion of trust in the CDC. Trust is, of course, paramount in a free country when trying to help the public make decisions about health matters. Our government does not seem to understand this simple concept.
For What Will We Go to War With China?
- By Pat Buchanan
In his final state of the nation speech Monday, Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte defended his refusal to confront China over Beijing's seizure and fortification of his country's islets in the South China Sea.
"It will be a massacre if I go and fight a war now," said Duterte. "We are not yet a competent and able enemy of the other side."
Duterte is a realist. He will not challenge China to retrieve his lost territories, as his country would be crushed. But Duterte has a hole card: a U.S. guarantee to fight China, should he stumble into war with China.
Dems’ Totalitarian Commission
- By Eagle Forum
The riot at our nation’s Capital on January 6, 2021 was certainly a dark day in our history. While Republicans have moved forward by doing their jobs of legislating and voting, Democrats are dragging this out in hopes of solidifying their majority in the House.
House Democrats’ squawking on this issue is getting old. They have pushed through a second impeachment of President Donald Trump, criticized Capitol Police, tried to remove Republicans from office, made elected officials go through metal detectors to vote, and constructed fencing around the entire Capitol. Yet, this hasn’t appeased their appetite.
House Member Quit Suddenly Last Year; Now a Judicial Candidate. Coincidence?
- By Rick Brundrett - The Nerve
What a difference a year can make – especially if you’re a state lawmaker.
In unexpectedly resigning his longtime House seat last July after winning the Republican primary, Alan Clemmons, a Myrtle Beach attorney, said in an affidavit to the State Election Commission that he was withdrawing from the general election because he was representing new legal clients who will “require a large investment of my time and focus.”
Clemmons, who was first elected to the House in 2002, officially resigned his House seat on July 17, 2020. As of last Wednesday – slightly more than a year later – he became a candidate for the Horry County master-in-equity judge’s seat, state Judicial Merit Selection Commission (JMSC) records show.
New Mask Guidelines are about Politics and Control
- By Tucker Carlson - Fox News
No one is fighting for the rights of those who don't want the vaccine
Strong regimes are a lot like strong people. They’re self-confident. Because they are, they’re rational and moderate. They can afford to be those things. They have unquestioned legitimacy. Admitting honest mistakes doesn’t threaten them. Why would it? They can tell the truth without fear. Strong regimes are marked by cheerfulness and an open-minded spirit. You know them when you see them. They’re easy to recognize.
Weakness has the opposite effect. Weak leaders live in terror. They lie constantly. They admit nothing. They rule by force because they have no choice. They have lost their legitimacy. When they begin to lose control, as they inevitably do, they panic. Unable to acknowledge the magnitude of their failure, they retreat into delusion. Their behavior becomes irrational. They start to issue bizarre commands.
BJU Recognized by The American Prize
- By Randy Page - BJU
Bob Jones University won second place in The American Prize in Arts Education, 2021, the country’s most comprehensive contest for the classical arts. The prize was awarded based on a recording of William Shakespeare’s “King Lear” which was performed in 2018.
Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, Ohio, and the Hawaii Performing Arts Festival in held Waimea, Hawaii, placed first and third respectively.
According to the organization, “The American Prize in Arts Education recognizes and rewards the best education campaigns by performing arts organizations in America, based on submitted applications. The contest seeks evidence of campaigns that combine inspiration and creativity with demonstrable success, regardless of the budget available.”
COVID-19, Catholics and Illegal Alien Charities
- By Michelle Malkin
It seems there's no sanctuary from draconian mask and vaccine mandates. You can't get on a plane, go to school, work at a hospital, perform onstage, compete in sports, exercise at a gym, worship in church or walk outside without the long shadows of Big Pharma and the COVID-19 control freaks looming over every aspect of your lives. Every breath, every movement, every tweet, every Facebook post, every Instagram meme is being monitored for compliance.
There is one escape hatch, however. If you're an illegal alien, congratulations! Privileged border trespassers have been handed special "Get out of COVID Tyranny" cards, while the Biden administration is poised to send vaccine squads door to door to harass law-abiding citizens. Immigration rules don't apply to illegals, and neither do the invasive pandemic rules imposed on our citizenry.
House Spending Bill Funds Abortion, Wokeness, and Pot
- By Eagle Forum
This week, the House is advancing a deeply partisan and radically liberal spending bill, H.R. 4502. Republicans correctly coined this bill as “Pelosi’s Bloatedbus!” H.R. 4502 appropriates funding for federal agencies under Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, Agriculture, Rural Development, Energy and Water Development, Financial Services and General Government, Interior, Environment, Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, Transportation, and Housing.
Here are a few of the bill’s more radical top liners:
-
Removes various pro-life riders like the Hyde Amendment, the Weldon Amendment, and the Mexico City Policy (just to name a few).
Ben & Jerry's Takes Liberal Distortions Global
- By Star Parker
Ben & Jerry's, noted for its ice cream made from "contented cows," has produced not such contented consumers in many circles following its announcement to stop selling its ice cream in Israel's West Bank and in East Jerusalem.
Although the announcement calls these areas "occupied territories," more accurate would be to describe their status as "disputed" territories regarding Israel's sovereignty.
These are areas captured by Israel after the Six-Day War in 1967.
Why the Left Can't Let Go of Jan. 6
- By Pat Buchanan
To understand what House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's select committee investigation of the Capitol Hill events of Jan. 6 is all about, a good place to begin is with the sentencing hearing last week of Paul Hodgkins.
A crane operator from Tampa, Florida, Hodgkins, 38, pleaded guilty to a single count of obstructing a joint session of Congress called to confirm Joe Biden as the next president.
Hodgkins entered the Senate chamber carrying a Trump 2020 flag. He committed no assault, no act of destruction, no act of violence. Yet, he was sentenced to eight months in prison by U.S. Judge Randolph Moss.

The "Pledge of Allegiance"
- By Red Skelton
The following words were spoken by the late Red Skelton on his television program as he related the story of his teacher. Mr. Laswell felt his students had come to think of the Pledge of Allegiance as merely something to recite in class each day. So, one morning he told them, “I’ve been listening to you boys and girls recite the Pledge of allegiance all semester and it seems as though it is becoming monotonous to you. If I may, may I recite it and try to explain to you the meaning of each word?”
CRT Transformation of the American Military
- By Mike Scruggs
Neo-Marxist Subversion and its Washington Allies
The greatest threat to American security is not China, Russia, or Iran. It is the Critical Race Theory (CRT) transformation of our military. CRT is also our greatest threat to freedom.According to U.S. Space Force Lt. Col. Matthew Lohmeier, during the first month he was assigned as commander of the 11th Space Warning Squadron at a Colorado Air Force and Space base in July 2020, he was asked by base leadership to watch two videos in preparation for training and discussion on race and inclusion. This was in the aftermath of the death of George Floyd and rioting, looting, and burning in Minneapolis. Trained facilitators would mediate discussion sessions for base personnel.
The first video portrayed American history as 400 years of racist white supremacy beginning in 1619. The film taught that the U.S. Constitution codified a racist social order that intended to keep whites in power and subjugate and oppress blacks and that this racist foundation remained strong. The video narrator claimed that upon ratification of the Constitution, “white supremacy” was now the “official policy of the United States of America.” It also made reference to then Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnel and asserted that because the mentality of white supremacy has become engrained in our nation’s psyche, he and others like him, do not want blacks to “get to far.” The narrator stated that the racism of these white people is true whether they recognize it or not, and they cannot help it.
Pelosi: On the Riot Side of History
- By Tony Perkins - Family Research Council
When House Democrats started clamoring for their own January 6 commission, it was never about the facts. But the last person anyone expected to admit that is Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.). But this week, the California leader showed her cards when she booted two of the five Republicans off the roster because she was terrified they'd ask some hard questions. And hard questions, we all know, is not what this probe is about. Political theater is.
When House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) submitted his five names for the supposedly bipartisan investigation, Pelosi knew that Reps. Jim Banks (R-Ind.) and Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) wouldn't let her party get away with the pack of lies they've been trying to sell about that day for seven months -- namely that Republicans and their supporters were responsible for the tragedy at the Capitol. So, she made up some lame excuse that Democrats needed to protect the "integrity of the investigation" and rejected the two conservatives. Seething, McCarthy fired back that if that's the way Pelosi wants to play it, then she can go ahead with their "bipartisan" committee without them. "Unless Speaker Pelosi reverses course and seats all five Republican nominees, Republicans will not be party to their sham process and will instead pursue our own investigation of the facts."
“A Republic” – Which We Don’t Appear to Want to Keep! Part 1
- By W.H. Lamb
(I’m indebted to one of my long-time heroes, John F. McManus, patriot extraordinaire and the long time President, now President Emeritus, of The John Birch Society, for the inspiration for this article, and I quote freely from his article titled: “A Republic, If You Can Keep It”, published January 18, 2021 in the best and most informative bi-weekly news magazine in this nation—The New American magazine. (Subscriptions available at JBS. Org., or free with membership in the John Birch Society).
Fisher Ames (1758-1808) served his new nation as a member of the House of Representatives from Massachusetts for the entire eight years that George Washington served as our first President (1789-1797). Ames, a dedicated patriot, had some cogent—and accurate—observations about “democracy” that need to be dredged from the darkness of liberal mendacity and the perfidy of putrid politicians and mediocre “talking heads” who love to mindlessly prattle about the “glories of our democracy”. For example, consider the following observations that Fisher Ames left for posterity:
Lawmakers to Spend Millions on Incumbency-Protection Maps
- By Rick Brundrett - The Nerve
The S.C. House and Senate plan to spend millions creating new legislative and congressional district maps based on the latest U.S. Census – a convoluted process that lawmakers undertake every 10 years.
Historically, the “reapportionment” or “redistricting” process has been aimed at keeping incumbent legislators in office, though it’s not the official line from politicians.
“I look forward to our working together on a redistricting process that is fair and equitable to all South Carolinians,” longtime Sen. Luke Rankin, R-Horry, who is the Senate Judiciary Committee chairman, said in a press release last week in announcing the members of a redistricting subcommittee chaired by him.
