INDEPENDENT CONSERVATIVE VOICE OF
UPSTATE SOUTH CAROLINA

This article is related to the previous one. However, there are those addressing the idea of intelligent life from another planet; however, this article addresses unintelligent life. Unlike the concept of intelligent life on other planets, unintelligent life in no way raises any questions concerning any biblical doctrines. However, if it is ever discovered it needs to be seen from day one from a biblical perspective because it would used to attack the Bible.

The first thing that needs to be noted is the fact that the anticipation of finding even bacteria someplace other than Earth is based largely on the atheistic notion of naturalistic abiogenesis. After all, it is very easy to calculate just top statistically impossible the notion is. However, the thinking is that if life can be demonstrated to exist elsewhere in the universe other than Earth is that proof that life can get started on its own and quickly? This is where the Biblical attacks will start Even so much as a microbe is discovered any place off of the Earth.

Even though non-intelligent extraterrestrial life is not mentioned in the Bible its discovery particularly here in the solar system would not represent the problem from a Biblical perspective, this is particularly true if we are only talking about bacteria.

If we were to ever find bacteria on Mars or any of the moons in the outer solar system, then short of a genetic test demonstrating no similarity to Earth life, there would be any reason to suspect then it actually originated on Earth. Not only do both of the primary Flood models, Hydroplate theory in catastrophic plate tectonics, result in water being ejected into space some of which could have easily been swept around the solar system carrying bacteria with it, but solar wind also tends to sweep off the dust particles that are likely to be carrying bacteria. The possibility of bacteria surviving the trip is supported by the fact that parts of a surveyor brought back by Apollo 12 astronauts, contained surviving bacteria.

If there was a sufficient difference in these bacteria to rule out Earth as an origin where is the life discovered included plants and animals then it could simply be a case where God created this life also for our benefit. These benefits would include additional life to study, as well as possible food for either long-duration flights or colonization.

Ultimately the point is discovering bacterial, plant, or animal life off of the earth does not create any Biblical problems. It is however important to realize that such a discovery even right next door on a cosmic scale what do you immediately be used as evidence that abiogenesis is not only possible but likely. Such an analogy completely ignores the fact that you would be squaring the improbabilities against abiogenesis and a probability of 0 X 0 =0. In other words, two examples of something that is statistically impossible apart from intelligence are still statistically impossible apart from intelligence. The actual result would be that it would just make the discussion more interesting.
