Bob Jones University Starts 95th Academic Year

Bob Jones University kicks off its 95th academic year Monday, Aug. 23, during the annual opening exercises at 7 p.m. in Founder’s Memorial Amphitorium. The event will be webcast. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the University’s moving to Greenville from Cleveland, Tennessee.
Largely focused on celebrating the incoming Class of 2025, the opening exercises include practical advice and encouragement from the president, faculty members and student leaders.
“God graciously allowed us to navigate the various COVID-19 protocols and complete last year successfully in-person,” says BJU President Steve Pettit. “We look forward to our student body’s return and plan to offer a robust college experience including activities commemorating milestones in the University’s history.”

Bob Jones University Residence Hall Move-In

Bob Jones University President Steve Pettit, along with faculty, staff, and student leaders, will be assisting students arriving for registration and residence hall move-in on Saturday, Aug. 21.
On Saturday, President Pettit will assist students as they move into Mary Gaston residence hall. The president will be available for those members of the media wishing to photograph the move-in from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m.
The Mary Gaston residence hall may be accessed from the Pleasantburg Drive entrance (closest to the overhead walking bridge) or through the Wade Hampton Boulevard entrance.

Abolishing the ‘United’ States: A Radical Approach to Teaching

It’s as radical as it sounds.
As parents and taxpayers discover more about what is taught in many local schools, national education leaders’ extremism continues to be exposed. The new evidence? Fox News correspondent Aishah Hasnie’s recent report1 that the U.S. Department of Education has recommended Abolitionist Teaching Network2 resources for schools as they prepare to reopen in the fall.
Abolitionist Teaching is a new concept to the public at large.
Most people have never heard of the Abolitionist Teaching Network because it was not created until July of 2020. Dr. Bettina Love,3 a Professor in Education at the University of Georgia, has been touted and awarded over the past few years in the world of higher education, Black queer feminist scholarship, and liberation for students of color. Now she has inroads with the Biden administration’s Department of Education, as recently explained by Stanley Kurtz4.

North Greenville University spotlights 2021 Service Award recipients

North Greenville University (NGU) honored all employees who reached a service milestone anniversary during calendar year 2021 on Wednesday, August 11, at a chapel service for all faculty and staff. The university currently recognizes staff members’ years of service at five-year increments. The award is based on two criteria: an employee’s eligibility status and their service date.
Some 59 honorees from across campus marked service milestones in 2021.

The mandated lockdowns over the last year and a half have opened many people’s eyes to how powerful our government can become if we don’t pay attention. As students began learning virtually, parents were able to see first-hand the government’s influence on our children’s education. Needless to say, they aren’t happy.
Across the nation, parents are increasingly making their voices heard at their local school board meetings. Issues like critical race theory have brought together conservatives and liberals alike to fight against politics in the classroom. North Greenville University Announces Launch of New Website

North Greenville University (NGU), a private SC Southern Baptist University that offers both liberal arts and professional degrees on undergraduate and graduate levels, recently announced the launch of a newly revamped website. The new website has a clean and uncluttered design, improved functionality, and enhanced visual content focused on the university’s unique location, Christian heritage, educational delivery methods, and other opportunities.
“This new website is the culmination of many months and long hours of work from our team,” said Vice President for Enrollment & Marketing/Communications Michael White. “We are thrilled with the results and are confident that it is a more engaging and comprehensive presentation of the mission and presence of North Greenville University. Websites play an increasingly important role in helping people discover, build preference, and ultimately choose an institution. The redesign opens exciting possibilities to share our story in captivating ways.”

NGU PA Medicine to Hold Fundraiser for Nicaragua Medical Mission Trip

North Greenville University's (NGU) Physician Assistant (PA) program is hosting a mission trip fundraiser for the program's mission trip to Nicaragua in Fall 2022. The event will be held on Saturday, August 14, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Chipotle Mexican Grill, located at 3645 Pelham Road in Greenville.
NGU's PA program's mission is to develop well-informed and compassionate PAs who provide patient-centered and service-oriented medical care in diverse environments. The vision of the program is to transform health care for the benefit of communities. One way that the program is doing this is through medical mission work.
