Plans are humming along for the Olde South Christmas Ball to be held here in Greenville at the Greenville Marriott on December 11.

Since our initial announcement, several exciting developments have transpired. First, in commemoration of the sesquicentennial (150th anniversary) of the War Between the States, the Museum and Library of Confederate History will be loaning us its original lithograph of the Ordinance of Secession  for display at the ball. Also, an 1860 New York Times newspaper highlighting the South Carolina secession will accompany the historic Ordinance. Don’t miss viewing these rare artifacts!

More wonderful news is that historical artist Mr. Mort Kunstler has donated an autographed print for our charity silent auction! Likewise, Mr. John Paul Strain, also an historical artist, will be donating one of his famous prints autographed just for us. And last, but not least, Greenville’s own Bruce Ink will be donating an autographed print of his excellent painting of Greenville’s Confederate monument. We will have other classy, one-of-a-kind items for you to bid on as well. Profits will go to benefit the Boys Home of the South here in South Carolina.

Additionally, we will have some special one-of-a-kind gifts for purchase at our small bazaar. And author Mr. Dale Roberts will be present to autograph his book, Travis Hawkins McLeod (an adventure story based during the war era), upon your purchase. Plan to take advantage of this opportunity to find something unique for those on your Christmas list.

Tickets to the Olde South Ball will include many features to guarantee a wonderful evening. First of all, you will enjoy the food at our formal, sit-down supper which includes a special dessert made for the sesquicentennial occasion. Besides the silent auction and special gifts for purchase, we have slated an evening of terrific music. Live supper music will be provided by the harp duo Joyful Harps (www.joyfulharps.com ). Live dance music will be provided by the award-winning Blue Ridge Rounders. Timeless Dance will be our dance callers. Door prizes? Yes! Special table favors? Yes! Free formal photography? Yes!  Free dance practice? Yes!  As the Second-Annual Olde South Ball, we have expanded into the Marriott’s elegant grand ballroom. With the lovely surroundings and enjoyable music, you are in for a treat!
