Is There Any Hope ...
- Details
- By John H. Utz - Greenville SC
Is there any hope ... for civility, integrity, truth, common sense ... yeah, for the Constitution, even the Republic??
Let me give you some examples why I ask, what you may consider, a ridiculous question. Recently I was watching an ESPN promotion piece re: Michael Vick; you know, the NFL star quarterback who spent a couple of years in prison for dog-fighting and other cruelties. A female sports reporter was questioning whether Vick, who had apologized for his actions and had served the jail time, how could we know that he was truly repentant of these terrible crimes? I'm sorry, but ever day in the U.S. we are aborting something like 3,000 at least innocent unborns. And she, and essentially the rest of America is more concerned about some dogs!!

RINOS in Our Party
- Details
- By Johnnelle Raines - Pickens SC
I am thinking that closing our primaries in SC still won’t fix the problem of RINO’s in the Republican Party...these RINO’s have a huge following of what they prefer to be called...”moderates” or “centrists” These people are abundantly found in Greenville, Easley and Clemson and are showing up in Pickens, Six Mike, Central, Liberty as well. Why is that? I will tell you why...the failure of our church leaders and our public schools who refuse to stand up for Conservative Christian values and beliefs. AND the refusal of true Conservative Christians to “get involved” in politics. As well as their following being better organized and sending in operatives to stir up the community with their false narratives.
Letter to Tim Tassopoulous from Chick-fil-A

- By Deborah Akers
Before yesterday, we were not familiar with the name name, Tim Tassopoulous, but today is very different. Withdrawing funding from organizations like Salvation Army, Paul Anderson Childrens’ Homes (and FCA) is probably NOT how you wished to be remembered; however, this debacle is an unfortunate event now linked to your name.
A "Fractious Country at this Moment” and Filled with “Gutter Talk”
- Details
- By Jim S. Brooks - Roebuck, S.C.
Prudence Scott seems somewhat blue and perplexed at today’s political atmosphere as expressed recently in an upstate newspaper (Opinion 11-10-2019) and feels we are a “fractious country at this moment” and filled with “gutter talk.” Actually, passionate contrariety of political opinion is nothing new in our country! But blessedly, in a Great America, peaceful public demonstrations and free individual expression of diverse public viewpoints are encouraged: but, not violence, destruction, civil disobedience; and, individual suppression of another’s contrary individual public political opinion by intimidation or violence!
