Navy Pledge Worries

New Cultural Marxist Torpedo for U.S. Navy
A few days ago, an active veteran of the U.S. Marines emailed me a recent Navy document that apparently resulted from a February 6 memo from Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin to address suspected right-wing extremism in the military and Department of Defense. The initial phase was to be education sessions in stand-down periods over the next 60 days. President Biden delivered a short speech suggesting that there would be a purge of white supremacists or white nationalists in the military. The brief document, however, encompassed far more than racial issues. It also touched upon sexism, sexual orientation, sexual identity, and intersectional biases, as well as other structural and interpersonal biases, and “ableism.” Ableism is apparently being judgmental or biased against those who show less competence in various tasks. Is a relatively new form of wokeism, which does not seem to be a common sense fit with training and motivating highly capable and combat ready military units. Here is the short pledge below:

Our country is suffering from political stagnation because of decades-old entrenched politicians on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. who believe it is government of them, by them, and for them. The political elites have become addicted to position, influence, and power. They almost have to die, and some have while holding public office, before they can be removed from office. Therefore, the percentage is high for political corruption and a Marxist dictatorship to be established.

The ancient Romans were a pretty smart bunch, until they started worshipping big government. One of my favorite ancient Roman writers is Marcus Tullius Cicero (106 B.C.--43 B.C.). A noted lawyer and unfailing defender of the dying Roman Republic, he was a keen observer of the decline leading to the ultimate death of that Republic, and was eventually killed by the Roman version of total government in the form of the legions of Marc Antony. Before Cicero chose the wrong dictator to serve, he wrote these famous words: “Patria est communis omnium parens”, which means—“The fatherland is the common parent of us all”. I’m sure that most of us would agree with this sentiment, but just what is our “fatherland”?

Well, we’ve sure had a case of WHAT’S THE WEATHER DOING? We are seeing weather conditions unlike any in most people’s lifetimes. Even the so-called weather experts who were preaching “we have to change the climate to save the world” are now finding it hard to sell their climate-change ideas. And Texas’ shift to wind-power generators has shown itself to be lacking; frozen wind towers just don’t turn too well, while thousands of Texans spend days without power in homes without heat.

When will Black History Month be ... history?
Apart from the bizarre notion that educators should set aside one month to salute the historical achievements of one race apart from and above the historical achievements of other races, Black History Month appears to omit a lot of Black history.
About slavery, do our mostly left-wing educators teach that slavery was not unique to America and is as old as humankind? As economist and author Thomas Sowell says: "More whites were brought as slaves to North Africa than Blacks brought as slaves to the United States or to the 13 colonies from which it was formed. White slaves were still being bought and sold in the Ottoman Empire, decades after Blacks were freed in the United States."

In Erwin Lutzer’s timely 2020 book, We Will Not Be Silenced, he lists five cultural channels which Cultural Marxists use to capture and enslave a nation—social, political, educational, religious, and family.
A Swedish friend explained the Marxist strategy to me a little differently as he described how the very leftist Social Democrats took over Sweden in the 1932 elections and were able transform the country for 44 years until the 1976 election. They are still the dominant party in Sweden, although greater center-right strength has now made Sweden one of the most free enterprise friendly economies in Europe. Swedish media, however, continues to be one of the most oppressively politically correct.
