Chapter 5 - Ivar’s Saga—Search and Rescue
Ketel Flatnose, taking with him the boy, Ivar, and the little horse, Flicka, set out to rescue Marja. They were several days behind Gort and his motley crew. Their trail was at first easy to follow, for in their fear and panic they had dropped many things and left many signs in the forest and along the shore of the Romsdalfjord. Also, the little foxes, Skrogger and Raevi, were ahead of the little rescue team and following Gort as closely as possible.
Author Taylor Caldwell—Another Look At “Why The Middle Class Must Not Fail”
- Details

Last month The Times Examiner published my article entitled: Dear And Glorious Taylor, an in-depth look at one of my favorite authors, the late, great patriot, Taylor Caldwell. In that article I referred to an article that Caldwell wrote back in 1974, titled: “The Middle Class Must Not Fail”. Originally published by The Review of the News on May 29, 1974, it was republished in The New American Magazine on May 1, 1995. The Review of the News was one of the magazines published by The John Birch Society for many years, but was eventually replaced by The New American magazine, also published by The John Birch Society, to which Taylor Caldwell had been a faithful member for many years. It is that insightful and prophetic article, originally published so long ago, that I’d like to share with you now, because it surely applies to today’s events.
Christian Revelation and the Advent of True Philosophy
- Details
- By Winston McCuen
Theology is the application of reason to theological data, the data of revelation. Philosophy is inquiry into the nature of ultimate reality, the application of reason to the data of reality to determine the most fundamental or ultimate causes and ends. And reality, in its entirety, consists of the Uncreated Creator God and His creation. (Philosophy's inquiry into ultimate causes and ends covers the full range of its sub-disciplines, which include metaphysics (being), epistemology (knowledge), logic (reasoning), aesthetics (art and beauty), rhetoric (persuasion), and morals and politics (the Good).)
Belligerent Spending, A Congressional Addiction
- Details
- By Veronique de Rugy
After 15 failed attempts, California Rep. Kevin McCarthy finally secured the House speakership. Many worry that the concessions McCarthy made to secure his victory -- especially commitments to restrain government spending -- make the upcoming prospect of raising the debt ceiling perilous. Indeed, some fear that Republicans will refuse to raise the limit if it isn't paired with restraints on spending.
These worries fail to consider the potential financial danger the U.S. will eventually face if government debt continues to balloon unrestrained.
Is the Deep State Coming After Joe Biden?
- Details
- By Josh Hammer
The second half of Joe Biden's presidential term has officially gotten off to an ignominious start.
Earlier in the week, CBS News first broke the story that Biden had been storing classified documents, taken from his previous stint as vice president to Barack Obama, at the Chinese-funded Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement "think tank." Those classified documents were first identified by Biden's personal attorneys, CBS reported, on Nov. 2 -- a full six days before the midterm elections. Richard Sauber, Biden's special counsel, claimed that the White House counsel's office quickly notified the National Archives, which seized the documents posthaste.
Planetary magnetic fields and Biblical creation Part 1
- Details
- By Charles Creager, Jr.
One of the earliest arguments against an older earth is the observed fact that the earth magnetic field is decaying. Unfortunately, such early models of the earth's planetary magnetic field did not supply any evidence for a specific age for the earth, only an upward limit. Such early models placed upper limits on the age of the earth at around 12,000 at which point the internal heat of the earth's core from the generating current would be so great that it would blow the earth apart, not to mention that the magnetic field would be stronger than that of a neutron star. That would also make the magnetic field strong enough to kill you by just pulling the iron out of your blood.

Chapter 4 - Grimhilda Svartslange

Grimhilda continued to look intently at Marja and smiled. In a few minutes, another young girl, trembling with fear, came with a bucket of water and allowed Marja to wash herself, but she said nothing. Marja then began to notice her surroundings. Grimhilda sat gazing into a huge black cauldron sitting over a fire in the middle of the longhouse. She seemed somehow delighted as she stirred the great kettle. Marja shuddered when she saw Grimhilda reach in a basket and pull out two writhing blacksnakes and sink them into her boiling pot. As she stirred, she began to sing in a language Marja did not recognize.
Grimhilda was about the age of her mother and surprisingly beautiful. In fact, she was sometimes flatteringly compared to the Norse goddess Freyja, who was often associated with magic, witchcraft, secret knowledge, and fortune-telling. Grimhilda had long dark tresses, haunting green eyes, and pale skin with no blemishes except a necklace of bluish spirals tattooed just below her neck. She was rather tall and linear with exquisitely refined features. Her nose was slightly prominent but perfectly straight. Her teeth were nearly perfect and white. Her voice, generally harsh and commanding, was soft and musical in singing. But when she smiled or spoke, you somehow had the feeling of being abused.
