A “PROPHETIC” TALE OF PERSECUTION, RESISTANCE, AND COURAGE IN FAR FUTURE TIME.
Imagine, if you will, a small group of archaeologists working in and under an ancient building high over the banks of the Tomak River, close to a small city named Andria, in the country known as The United Republics of the East (U.R.E). It is a building that has survived the ravages of time and the hatred of malevolent forces over most of its existence. Perhaps sometime in the mid-part of the 28th century these archaeologists make a historical find underneath that newly renovated and restored ancient building on the banks of that river, a building that was around 900 years old at that time and that had been used as a church by the Sectof Jesus Followers for a century or more, during a time of severe persecution of Christians. Imagine, then, that in a sealed metal box buried under that church over 300 yearspreviously, they discover a personal journal written by an Elder of that Church. So here is his and his Christian brethren’s story of fear and faithfulness, of peace and violence, of resistance and defeats, of loves for each other and of their Savior, as written down sometime in the early 25th century—near the end of the “Dark Time”--far, far into our own future, which we who live today in the year 2024 will bring about by what we do, or DON’T do!

To Reiterate: It Would Appear That We’re Living In “Perilous Times”

Let me open this long “cyber sermon” with a side-by-side comparison of 2nd Timothy 3:1-5, in both my favorite “old” 1599 Geneva Bible and in my favorite “new” New International Version of the Bible. I know that some readers are unfamiliar with the Geneva Bible, and some are adamantly against reading any “modern” version of God’s Word beyond the 1611 Authorized KJV—but please indulge me, and we’ll get through this. Here is what the Triune Creator of All has to say about the “times” we are living in:

“Are these the shadows of the things that will be, or are they shadows of things that may be, only?... Men’s courses will foreshadow certain ends, to which, if persevered in, they must lead. But if the courses be departed from, the ends will change….Say it is thus with what you show me.”
So said Ebenezer Scrooge to the “Spirit of Christmas Future”, in Charles Dickens’ classic 1843 novel, “A Christmas Carol”, one of his most popular and enduring books, one that pierced the souls of middle and upper class Victorian England, and forced them to confront how they treated the poor and overworked lower classes, and especially the children of those classes, in a country that changed the world in so many respects, but found it difficult to change how the people of England treated each other, at a time when the “Chartist Movement”---a leftist/socialist/Marxist style “people’s movement”, probably organized by descendants of Adam Weishaupt’s Satanic “Order ofIlluminati, raged throughout portions of Great Britain, and Christianity was still the prevalent religious and societal mandate among the proud middle and snobbish upper classes, at least on the surface.

“And shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” - John 8;32 1599 Geneva Bible
“Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” - John 8:32 NIV.

Some of the following words are mine—but the original thoughts are not. ALL of these concepts and words of wisdom belonged originally to others who pondered Freedom’s Principles before me—in some cases hundreds or thousands of years before. That’s what makes them so unique, for no matter how “old” these ideas are, or in what age they originated, or the circumstances that cause them to resurface in times of stressful “human events”, they never truly become outdated, because“principles” that can assure—and have done sofor many centuries—the survival of human liberty are eternal!

BOSTON: THE SEEDBED OF ANTI-BRITISH SENTIMENT
I’ve been to Boston, Massachusetts several times, and aside from the horrid traffic, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed each visit. Great food, especially at the venerable Union Oyster House and the now defunct Durgin Park restaurant, and lots of one of my favorite subjects: History. My wife and I have walked “The Freedom Trail” through Boston several times (the last two visits with our family), and each of our “treks through history” has taken us to OldGranary Burial Ground, which is full of the graves of the famous (Paul Revere, John Hancock, Sam Adams, James Otis, Mary (not Mother) Goose, Benjamin Franklin’s parents, Robert Treat Paine), and the not-so- famous of our early history. One grave marker in that ancient cemetery has always intrigued me, for carved on it are the names of five people whose deaths have been well documented in history. They are the five Bostonians who were killed by British soldiers during the infamous “Boston Massacre” on March 5, 1770, which occurred in front of the Old Statehouse Building: (Samuel Gray, Samuel Maverick, James Caldwell, Crispus Attucks, and Patrick Carr). I’ve stood on the exact spot where they died. It is the 6th person that usually eluded my attention, the death of whom might have been THE catalyst that eventually ignited our American Revolution.

THE DARK TIME
(CA. 2300 A.D.—CA. 2400’s A.D.)
(A continuation of a lecture by a fictional “history professor” to a class of young adults, sometime in the 32nd century.)

“We ended our last class session as one of the most gruesome and evil episodes in mankind’s history—“The Nationality Wars”—began to run down, leaving those who survived to face an even more terrible scenario. During the period of these “Nationality Wars” (ca. late 2100s A.D. – early 2300s A.D.), another religious group was attacked by the mostly Christian, or pseudo-Christian, survivors or descendants of those who had lived in the Old United States.
“People of the “Moslemist Faith” were hunted down and killed or driven into exile into Old Mamoda. This conflict appears to have begun during the early decades of The Nationality Wars, and may have been precipitated by the violence between the Chin Empire and the New Euro “Inshalists” (a Euro sect of the Moslemists of the Great Northern Continent, or GNC). By the mid point of The Nationality Wars most of the Moslemists of the GNC had escaped into what was known then as The Mamooden Protectorate, taking their faith with them. This religious tradition became the dominant (and only) religious belief allowed in Old Mamooda, and was known as “Mamoodism”, or “The Mamooden Faith” by the early 2500’s A.D.

What Have You – What Have I – “Earned”?
- Details
- By W.H. Lamb
- Category: W.H. Lamb

Before we begin our foray into this topic, let’s examine how Webster’s Dictionary defines the word: “earn”:
- To receive as return for effort and especially for work done or services rendered; to bring in by way of return;
- To come to be duly worthy of or entitled or suited to—i.e. ‘she earned a promotion’;
- To make worthy of or obtain for—i.e. ‘the suggestion earned him a promotion.
Seems pretty cut and dried, doesn’t it? But what does it really take to “earn” something? Obviously it takes an expenditure of time and/or effort. Often an outlay of money is involved, as in investing in more education in order to “earn” a higher income in future years (or so it used to be). According to the dictionary definitions above, there are also non-monetary ways of “earning” something, such as earning another person’s trust. This type of “earning” requires a degree of character that is sometimes more difficult to attain, and can be more challenging to accomplish.

“We concluded our last session detailing the splitting apart of the original Old United States into several smaller countries, and the rise and fall of what was the most successful of those smaller countries—The Confederated Republics of America. This session will deal with what many historians call the beginning of the end of civilization on the Great Northern Continent. Similar evils were perpetrated on the Great Southern Continent during this time also, but we’ll limit the scope of this delving into man’s evil nature just to the GNC and to Euro.

Some Thoughts To Ponder For A New Year

“And he said, Hearken ye all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou, King Jehoshaphat: Thus saith the Lord unto you, Fear you not, neither be afraid for this great multitude: FOR THE BATTLE IS NOT YOURS, BUT GOD’S” (2nd Chronicles 20:15-17; 1599 Geneva Bible).
ARE WE STILL WILLING TO “OBEY GOD” BY RESISTING TYRANNY?
For those of you who are unaware, the 1599 Geneva Bible was the Bible used by our PILGRIM Forefathers and Mothers (they didn’t trust the recently published 1611 King James Version because they disliked King James--i.e. they disapproved of his “suspected” homosexual proclivities, and his allegiance to The Church of England, with its “anti-Calvinist” inclinations—the Geneva Bible is full of helpful “margin notes”, and is strongly “Calvinist” in its teachings, both of which King James disapproved). It was read and preached from during the dangerous and tedious 66-day Atlantic voyage from England to the New World during the harsh fall of 1620. It’s the “original” Bible I prefer to use.

It Is Christmas Time – Let Us Rejoice!

“Some people have made transformational changes in…human learning or in one aspect of human life, and their names are forever enshrined in the annals of human history. But Jesus Christ, the greatest man who ever lived, changed virtually every aspect of human life—and most people don’t know it. The greatest tragedy of the Christmas holiday each year is not so much its commercialization…but its trivialization. How tragic it is that people have forgotten Him to whom they owe so very much.” (Rev. D. James Kennedy, in What If Jesus Had Never Been Born?, Thomas Nelson Publishers, 1994, p. 1).

The America That Once Was (A Christmas Memory)

HAS THE “SPIRIT” OF CHRISTMAS LEFT US?

At age 87 I have a lot of mostly good memories of Christmases past—of the America that once was (but is no more), and of the many people who “traveled” with me over my life’s road, at least for part of it. How much more time I’ll have to enjoy all of these memories only my Savior and LORD Jesus knows. But I would like to share a few of these “old” memories with you once again. So bear with me. Perhaps you share similar memories. I hope so. If not now, then when you get “old and experienced”, like me.

An Early Christmas Story—Again!
- Details
- By W.H. Lamb
- Category: W.H. Lamb

Note: This touching story was published in The Times Examiner last December 2022. But it touched a lot of people. “Christmas”, as we all should know, is NOT about Santa Claus and his reindeer bringing us presents, nor about snowmen or “grinches”. It’s not even about “Charlie Brown” and his wonderful recitation of the true meaning of Christmas, right from God’s Word. (THANK YOU, Charles Schultz for your brave stand, long ago, against CBS). It’s not really about family gatherings, with special dinners, although they are usually memorable. It’s not about getting lots of presents, mostly stuff we don’t really need. Christmas is more about “giving”, more about focusing on one’s true faith and sharing it with others. It’s about doing, not just talking. Christmas is about----------well, I’ll leave that up to you to decide.

The Past Is Always “Prologue," But So Is The Present!
- Details
- By W.H. Lamb
- Category: W.H. Lamb

THE TRAGIC STORY OF “THE WHITE SHIP”
First off, let’s define the word: “prologue”. Webster’s defines it as ‘anintroductory or preceding event or development’. In a literary work it is often called a ‘preface’, a commentary or explanation that the author includes to clarify the story or the facts that are to follow. The term, ‘the past is prologue’, tells us that, in real life, almost EVERYTHING in the past can bea prologue—or a causative event-- to whatfollows it. Thus, my responding to my “four-legged alarm clock” at 8:30 a.m., and dragging myself out of bed this morning was my ‘prologue’ to getting her breakfast and taking her out for her “morning activity”. That’s a fairly easy concept to grasp. What is more complicated to fathom is how the past of each one of us—I mean the really “long gone past”—has affected who we are, into what family we were born, and even in what country we originated. Now that’s kind of deep, isn’t it? In addition, it’s quite fascinating to “conjecture” various “present scenarios” resulting from a series of “past prologues” that might have happened but didn’t, e.g. a person of the past never existed or an event of the past never occurred. How would that affect our present? In some cases perhaps not at all, or only minimally. In other cases world history would be changed.

Earth – The Real Red Planet

“None are more hopelessly enslaved as those who falsely believe they are free.” - Johann Von Goethe (1749-1832)
Yes, I know. Mars is called the “Red Planet”. Over the past few decades we’ve seen some phenomenal pictures from the various NASA “Vikings”, “Mariners”, “Pathfinders”, and “Rovers”, those intrepid little explorers who send back great panoramas and detailed photos of Mars over 200 million miles or more back to Earth. As Mr. Spock from Star Trek might comment: “Fascinating”! But when I observe the “color” of Planet Earth, normally called the “blue planet”, I’m referring to the “color” of its prevailing political structures, which are heavily skewed to the collectivist/socialist and destructive to freedom leftist hue---RED (the despicable socialist commies are not generically referred to as “blues”, are they?)

THE “FIRST THANKSGIVING” MAY NOT HAVE BEEN THE FIRST “THANKSGIVING”!
It’s sad that so much of truthful American history is being, or has already been, forgotten, consigned to Big Brother’s “memory hole” of left wing political correctness or “woke” insanity that infests what passes for public “education” in the U.S. A case in point is the story of what for a long time has been considered as the “First Thanksgiving”---the one we’ve always heard about—the one that took place in Plymouth, Massachusetts, not the mostly unknown but probable true “firstThanksgiving” in America that took place in Jamestown, Virginia soon after those settlers arrived around 1608 (of course, the folks in St. Augustine, Florida claim that they celebrated the “first Thanksgiving” service sometime around 1565, long before the Jamestown settlers---but that’s a story for another time).

As of last September 17, 2023, our nation—the United States of America—has existed as a Constitutional Republic for 236 years, thanks to the wisdom, the faith, the fortitude, and the willingness to reach compromises, on the part of our Founders who signed the 1787 constitution and, a few years later, our Bill of Rights, the first ten amendments to that constitution. During those 236 years our venerable constitution has weathered many attacks against it, and has been amended (often unwisely) a total of 27 times. Despite the hordes of calumnies directed against our constitution by mental midgets and Godless collectivists, and especially against those inspired men who codified the God-given rights enshrined therein, our federal Constitution has stood the test of time by providing a national “blueprint” for the governance of our nation through war and peace, through good and bad economic times, through disasters caused by human foibles and corruption and treason, and increasingly through the shadowy conspiracies of “Un-Americans” who were—and still are-- determined to end this “experiment in self-government” in favor of some form of collectivist coercion or authoritative tyranny, forms of “government” for which those treasonous Devil’s spawn have always lusted.
