Phil Leigh’s Civil War Chat
- By Press Release
History told as a story is never forgotten.—Rudyard Kipling
An historian reviews my Firepower Novel
The reviewer is Dr. Sandy Mitcham of the University of Louisiana, Monroe. He has authored about 40 books on military history.
(Note by Phil Leigh) Dr. Mitcham’s review is below. To correct possible misinterpretation, the novel’s Confederates do not have a large Secret Service, nor are they extraordinarily brilliant. Instead their success stems from knowledge of a family secret affecting a key historical Northerner. To avoid checkmate, he tries a strategy of perpetual check. Can he succeed?
(September 13, 2023 By Sandy Mitcham.) It is all so simple, the establishment historian writes. The typical Southerner was an illiterate, tobacco-chewing hayseed. The South—led by a handful of West Point stalwarts—resisted for four long years because of stubbornness, bravado, and the fact that they were far too stupid to realize they were defeated. In the end, however, the selfless Northerners won, thanks to their vast mental superiority. The fact that their white demographic base outnumbered the South 4 to 1 (even without the 500,000 foreign mercenaries they hired from 15 different countries) had nothing to do with it—at least according to Yankee mythology.

The Depopulation Death Cult
- By Paul Dragu - The New American
Is depopulation a deliberate agenda that’s being implemented by a “cult of death” even as we speak?
In today’s episode, we discuss the U.S. government’s “Kissinger Report” on depopulation; the steep decline in fertility rates; the roles of Covid-19, Covid “vaccines,” and trans and homosexual lifestyles in depopulation; and why the world could use more, not fewer, people. The New American’s publisher, Dennis Behreandt, and executive senior editor, Steve Bonta, make a strong case for human innovation over population reduction.

Is Google Guilty of Being Too Popular With Consumers?
- By Stephen Moore
You may have heard the Biden Justice Department is suing Google in federal court for being a "monopoly." That's a bizarre charge given that few, if any companies in all American history have lowered prices more than Google -- which provides access to information that used to take hours or days to find -- with merely a click of a button, and instantaneously. And it does it basically for free.
Wait, I thought monopolies are bad because they RAISE prices. Google does the opposite. If you're a consumer and a user of Google searches and you feel aggrieved, raise your hand.
The Escalation Crisis in Ukraine
- By Mike Scruggs
Double-down Insanity or Sober Realism?
Remembering a JFK Speech
The United States and NATO are fighting a proxy war against the Russian Federation in Ukraine. Russia, however, is a very different country from the old Soviet Union and has not been dominated by Communist philosophy, government, or ambitions for over 30 years. Yet the Western coalition of NATO and European Union governments and their national media have been telling the public since February 2022 that this war is about democracy, freedom, and guaranteeing Ukrainian independence, and that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, was “unprovoked” aggression. That narrative continues to be upheld by many Western political leaders. but it is shallow and far short of the complete truth. It is largely propaganda. A huge part of this propaganda has been the ruthless, dishonest, and inflammatory demonizing of Russian President Vladimir Putin, but it has also created an Orwellian “Russo-phobic” canon of misinformation about Russia and the Russian people.

PATRIOTS, AMERICANS, COUNTRYMEN, LISTEN TO ME.
I COME TO EXPOSE THE TRUTH, NOT TO BURY IT.
THE EVIL THAT LIBERALS DO LIVES AFTER THEM,

SO SHOULD IT BE WITH ALL COLLECTIVISTS.

THIS IS NOT SO, IT IS A GRIEVOUS LIE,
AND GRIEVOUSLY HAVE WE BEEN MALIGNED.
Teacher's Union Head Smears Christians
- By Christian Newswire
On September 12, Randi Weingarten, president of the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), ripped Americans who are in favor of school choice and parental rights, comparing them to segregationists. Even worse, she lashed out at Christians who support these initiatives. She made her remarks to Seth D. Harris, a senior fellow at the Burnes Center for Social Change at Northeastern University.
Weingarten said she got the idea that there is little difference between the segregationists of old and today's promoters of school choice and parental rights from the Southern Poverty Law Center, the seriously disgraced far left-wing organization. She concluded that these Americans want to "divide parents versus teachers."
Lawmakers Take Action Against Biden’s Climate Change Agenda
- By Eagle Forum
Congress Hits the Brakes on Car Bans
The Biden administration is once again stifling the choices of the American people. In the name of “climate change,” the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has given waivers to the State of California allowing them to go beyond federal regulations to ban certain types of vehicles. Even though this has occurred for decades, the California Resource Board was granted its biggest request to date: a ban on all sales of non-electric vehicles in the near future.
Does Information Require an Author?
- By Charles Creager, Jr.
This question is important because DNA contains information, in fact, it contains complex specific encoded information. The answer to this question depends entirely upon which type of information you are referring to. Understanding this difference is the key to understanding why a naturalistic origin of life is fundamentally unworkable and impossible.
Poland Challenges European Union on Draconian Climate Regulations
- By James Murphy - The New American
Poland has asked the European Union’s highest court — the European Court of Justice — to cancel three of the bloc’s most extreme climate-change policies on the grounds that they threaten the nation’s energy security and the well being of its citizens. Poland is claiming that the policies are in breach of EU treaties, as they were adopted without the unanimous backing of the European Council.
The Polish government argues that EU policies regarding banning cars that emit CO2 by 2035, national emissions targets, and a law reforming the bloc’s carbon market will burden Polish citizens who can least afford such drastic changes. They further argue that the extreme regulations infringe upon Poland’s national sovereignty.

A Major Win For Truth, Transparency, and Conservative Values in Greenville, SC at Special Called Greenville County Republican Party Meeting.
- By Jim M. Collard - South Carolina
Despite a week-long, FULL-frontal attempt by the power-hungry powerbrokers (who previously seemed to RUN the GCRP with an iron fist) demanding that voting members vote AGAINST the motions presented, each one was easily passed by the body of the GCRP.
This fact deserves repeating: every moment possible spent on phone calls, emails, text messages, & private group posts begging voting members of the Greenville Republican party to vote AGAINST every motion presented at the special meeting, not a SINGLE motion failed. There is no way for those who are “at the top” of the county party, who have shown themselves to be acting in bad faith, to spin this reality into anything other than what it was: A win for truth & transparency, and a loss for the would-be tyrants that have used intimidation, lawfare, threats & whisper campaigns of slanderous hate who have wrested control of the party in recent years from the people they falsely claimed to represent.
MySCGOP Leader’s House of Cards is Falling and So Is His Grip on Greenville County Republican Party
- By James Spurck, Publisher
Greenville GOP ECs Asked for Clarification on Budget, Accurate Headquarter Records, Missing Minutes, and Equal Access to GCRP Resources, and They Won!
Remember the song by The Charlie Daniel’s Band, “The Devil Went Down to Georgia?” A portion of the song says,
Johnny, rosin up your bow and play your fiddle hard
'Cause Hell's broke loose in Georgia, and the devil deals the cards
And if you win, you get this shiny fiddle made of gold
But if you lose, the devil gets your soul.
The story of deceit and scams began in Georgia fifteen years ago and has followed the current GCRP State Executive Committeeman Jeff Davis all the way up to his tenure at GCRP.
In court documents obtained by The Times Examiner and easily available to anyone who cares to do their own research (https://timesexaminer.com/upload/Davis%20vs%20Taylors%20Bankruptcy-Order.pdf), it was found in May 2008 that Davis as a financial planner had created a scheme to buyout shares within a privately-held bank named Georgian Bank from an early investor who found himself in financial straits.

EASTON, Md. -- Earthquake survivors in Morocco are turning to social media and satellite television for spiritual support in the aftermath of the disaster that has killed more than 2,900 people.
Many people living in Morocco — a highly-religious nation where Christians are often isolated and cannot meet openly in public — are "struggling to understand why God allows such disasters to take place," said Rex Rogers, president of Christian broadcaster SAT-7 USA (www.sat7usa.org).
"Right now, they're desperate to find peace and answers amid the chaos and devastation," he added.
9/11 and the Politics of Evil
- By Star Parker
Three days after the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, the worst and most murderous attack on the United States in history, President George W. Bush declared "a National Day of Prayer and Remembrance."
He went to the National Cathedral and spoke to the nation, casting the horrible event in theological light, saying that the United States must "answer these attacks and rid the world of evil."
Bush said we live in a world "of moral design" and he appealed to "Almighty God to watch over our nation."

Maybe a Temporary Government Lockdown Is Necessary. The Alternative May Be Worse.
- By Stephen Moore
What's worse? When politicians shut down the government, or when they lock down businesses, stores, schools, churches and restaurants -- and nearly all private commerce in America?
If you haven't heard, the media and congressional Democrats are near cardiac arrest over the prospect of a government shutdown later this year. They may need smelling salts. How dare Congress shut down our vital government services when they are deadlocked on the budget?
It's Now Safe to Say That Homeownership Is Evil
- By Kathleen Marquardt - American Policy Center
Did you ever stop to realize that wanting to achieve the American Dream – a chicken in every pot and two cars in your garage – is “the problem”? Yep! You and your selfish dream are destroying this country. I kid you not.
The article “The problem with America’s high homeownership rate” by Felix Salmon1 spells it out loud and clear. It begins by telling us that our decades-long love affair with homeownership is not only holding back the economy, but also “hobbling the Federal Reserve (as if their problem isn’t self-inflicted) and exacerbating a national housing crisis.” Nope, sorry. The housing crisis is greatly driven by the big non-governmental organizations (NOGs) gobbling up houses to turn into rentals, for now (a story for another time). And, as in Hawaii, taking people’s property via the insurance companies (other NGOs) denying coverage for the fire damages.
Eagle Forum Applauds Senator Vance for Protecting American’s Freedom to Breathe
- By Eagle Forum
Senator Markey Favors Unscientific Masking, Blocks Vote
Eagle Forum released the following statement after Senate Democrats prevented a vote on a bill to stop the federal government from imposing mask mandates on the American people:
Today, Senator JD Vance (R-OH) attempted to bring a bill, The Freedom to Breathe Act, to the floor for a vote. This common sense, science-backed bill would have prevented federally funded schools and transportation systems from mandating masks be worn. After almost two years of toddlers and travelers being forced to cover their faces and impede their breathing or face ostracization, and in light of studies showing that masking is ineffective in stopping the transmission of COVID-19, the American people are fed up. It’s time to finally “trust the science” and reject the politics of fear.
To Fight Climate Change, Stop Fighting China on Electric Vehicles
- By Veronique de Rugy
Much of the banter surrounding the rise of China's electric vehicle (EV) industry and the implication for the global economy is misleadingly alarmist. When our government gets involved in such narratives, it calls into question the sincerity of its insistence that EVs are essential to an existential battle against climate change. If China's foray succeeds, the world gets cleaner cars and non-Chinese automakers are obliged to improve their own products.
A common concern among government officials is that while China faces strong headwinds, the country still might have what it takes to firm up its position and maintain dominance as an EV producer and exporter. Such worries aren't confined to U.S. officials. Governments around the world are melding to cut China out of the EV market.
The FDA has an “Ultra Vires” Problem
- By Joyce Kamen - V.P. with FLCCC
An appeals court found that the FDA overstepped its authority in a public campaign against treating COVID-19 with the anti-parasite drug ivermectin.
“So let me get this straight,” I said to members of our FLCCC marketing team as we met on a Zoom call one morning in the spring of 2022. “Three doctors—including our Dr. Marik— are suing the FDA? Can they even do that?”
“Well, whether they can or not remains to be seen,” said a member of the team. “But yes, their suit is about to be filed.”
Whoa. This looked to me like the plaintiffs were about to grab a tiger by the tail. Three doctors—Robert Apter, MD, Mary Talley Bowden, MD, and FLCCC co-founder, Paul E. Marik, MD—filed suit against the FDA in the U.S. District Court on June 2, 2022. In the suit, the three alleged that the FDA acted “ultra vires” —outside of its authority—to illegally interfere with the doctors’ ability to practice medicine because of the FDA’s aggressive public media campaign to stop the prescribing of ivermectin for the prevention and treatment of COVID-19.
Controversial Transgender Groups Endorse Ohio’s Abortion-Related Issue One
- By Ben Johnson - The Washington Stand
An LGBT pressure group that advocates teaching transgender ideology to children in preschool has endorsed an abortion-related state constitutional amendment that could also create a constitutional “right” for minors to have transgender surgeries without their parents’ knowledge or approval. In addition, the transgender activist group is joined by one of the nation’s largest profiteers from injecting minors and young adults with cross-sex hormones.
The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) has endorsed Ohio Issue One, the so-called “Right to Make Reproductive Decisions Including Abortion Initiative.” Its supporters say the amendment aims to “enshrine” the right to abortion in Ohio’s constitution. But critics point out that the amendment grants the right to make “reproductive decisions including but not limited to abortion” to “every individual,” instead of every adult. That could apply to transgender procedures, since puberty blockers, cross-sex hormone injections, and transgender surgeries can sterilize their recipients.
A Southern Military Legacy

Four Generations of Patriotic Gallantry
![2Lt Creswell Garlington](/images/18-08/2Lt-Creswell-Garlington.jpg)
2nd Lt. Creswell Garlington, Jr, DSC, died of wounds, 2 September 1944.
Albert Creswell Garlington was born in Oglethorpe County Georgia in 1822. He was the son of Christopher Garlington and Eliza Aycock Garlington. Garlington graduated from the University of Georgia in 1842 with highest honors and moved to South Carolina where he became a lawyer in 1844. He married Sally Lark Moon in 1846 and moved to her hometown of Newberry in 1848. Garlington served two terms in the South Carolina General Assembly in 1850-1854 and ran for U.S Congress in 1854 but was defeated by Preston Brooks.
The mention of Preston Brooks demands a parenthetical explanation of historical importance. Brooks was the incumbent Congressman, who had been elected in 1852 and served until his untimely death from a viral respiratory infection on January 27, 1857. On May 20, 1856, U.S. Senator Charles Sumner of Massachusetts made a speech on the Senate Floor, entitled, “Bleeding Kansas,” critical of Southern slavery supporters. In this speech, he particularly mocked, insulted, and impugned the character of South Carolina’s gifted, beloved, but ailing Senator, Andrew Pickens Butler (1796-1857) and also managed to criticize Illinois Senator Stephen Douglas. Butler and Douglas were co-sponsors of the Kansas-Nebraska Act of 1854. Sumner had a reputation for self-righteous arrogance During the course of the speech, Senator Douglas turned to a colleague and said, “This damn fool is going to get himself shot by some other damn fool.” Congressman Brooks was a first cousin of Senator Butler and considered Sumner to have insulted the honor of his family.
“Courage Is Being Scared To Death And Saddling Up Anyway”
- By W.H. Lamb
![The Duke John Wayne Signature](/images/18-08/The-Duke---John-Wayne-Signature.jpg)
Life really is much harder if you’re stupid, especially if you’re deliberately stupid. Words to that effect were uttered by the hard-nosed (but soft hearted) Sergeant Stryker in the great old 1949 film, “Sands of Iwo Jima”, and portrayed so well by John Wayne (1907-1979), one of the most unique actors that American film has ever produced and who, despite his failures and shortcomings was one of the most sincere patriots our country has ever produced. An iconoclast of leftist/progressive causes, Wayne was a strong supporter (in his later life) of traditional Americanism and the constitutional form of government given to Americans by our Founders. As he matured, he became a political conservative, much to the chagrin of the leftist vermin and brain damaged“ moonbats” who increasingly dominated Hollywood during most of his career.
SDG 16: "Back the Blue" Decoded
- By Lynne M Taylor - American Policy Center
Warning bells should be going off all around us, these days. If they aren’t already, it’s my hope that by the time you finish this article, you’ll hear them distinctly! If you’re not familiar with the history of the police forces in the US, please read this. If you’re not sure where the boundaries of police powers should be for America, read this article on how we can urge our States to go back to their Constitutional roots.
The First Bell:
Recently, my local newspaper published an article celebrating the fact that the local police department had become nationally accredited. Sounds great on the surface, right?! As in any media, articles like this are presented to help build a sense of support and protection in communities. However, as a researcher and the wife of a former correctional officer, I know, what’s said is one thing, it’s what’s NOT said that must be brought to light!
Do Genetic Algorithms Show That Intelligence is Not Needed to Produce Information?
- By Charles Creager, Jr.
A genetic algorithm is a search algorithm that seeks optimization by random changes within a population of solutions. They are alleged to mimic natural selection and because of this they are used as evidence of universal common descent evolution being possible and claimed as proof that information need not be the product of an intelligent mind. However, when one looks closely and objectively at these algorithms, they actually do the opposite.
