Tigers for Babies 5k, Sunday November 18th

Clemson University students, staff, and the entire Clemson community will be participating in Tigers for Babies. Walkers & Runners will gather to take steps for healthier babies in the Tigers for Babies 5k. The day’s activities include opening words from Mrs. Beth Clements, with the 5k to follow, and then our Awards Celebration. All participants will get to enjoy The Brooks Dixon Band, food & drink, silent auction, Southerly Selfies Photo booth, & more!

USDA Announces Funding to Increase Access to Education, Workforce Training and Health Care Opportunities in Rural Communities

WASHINGTON, Oct. 31, 2018 – Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue today announced that USDA is awarding grants for 128 projects to increase access to job training (PDF, 351 KB), educational and health care services in rural areas.
“Empowering rural Americans with access to services for quality of life and economic development is critical to rural prosperity,” Secretary Perdue said. “Distance learning and telemedicine technology bridges the gap that often exists between rural communities and essential education, workforce training and health care resources.”

Leaders from 30 pregnancy resource centers around the United States met in Colorado Springs for week-long intensive that equipped and encouraged those on the front lines of the pro-life movement.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Non-profit ministry Save the Storks announced today that the first annual Flyway Intensive was a resounding success, with 30 executive directors from pregnancy resource centers across the United States in attendance. The week-long event was held at Garden of the Gods Club in Colorado Springs and was opened with a devotional by Jayde Duncan, Senior Pastor at Antioch Church in Colorado Springs. Break-out sessions featured mentors who coached the executive directors and helped craft actionable SMART goals specific to each PRC.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Crisis-trained chaplains with the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team are on the ground in Pittsburgh following Saturday's mass shooting at the Tree of Life Synagogue in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood. According to news reports, the attack claimed the lives of 11 people. Several more were injured, including police officers who engaged the shooter in their attempt to apprehend him.

Clemson Alumnus Kevin Yon Named Southeast’s Top Farmer

RIDGE SPRING — Kevin Yon has built his life around family and farming, and on Oct. 16, he celebrated landmark moments on both fronts.
On the same day Yon’s first grandchild came home from the hospital to the family farm in Ridge Spring, he was named the overall winner of the Swisher Sweets/Sunbelt Expo Southeastern Farmer of the Year award for 2018.
“It was very special,” said Yon, a first-generation angus breeder. “And I got to be there for the birth prior to going to the banquet, so that was good, too.”

Washington Center Students Enjoyed An "Out In The Community" Day

Students in Linda Kemp's Washington Center class enjoy going out into the community. The students visit various places, such as grocery stores, the mall, museums, the park and restaurants. While out in the community, students are able to practice skills that they learn in the classroom; those skills include counting out money to make purchases, locating items in a store as well as locating safety signs. The class recently visited downtown Greenville and ate lunch at Bertolo's. The students had the opportunity to practice locating safety signs. This is an important skill for students to learn in order to keep them safe.
