BJU Nicolas Ellen Speaks at 2023 Core 0Conference

BJU Seminary will hold its annual CoRe Conference Jan. 29-31 on the BJU campus.

The theme of the conference, “The Return of Hope: Dealing with Depression in the Church,” will explore the topic of depression and suicide, specifically how to counsel those struggling within the church. Breakout sessions will address forgiveness, despair, anxiety and handling losses biblically.

Speakers include Tim Jordan, retired pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Lansdale, Pennsylvania; Stuart Scott, BJU Seminary professor; Dan Dionne, internal medicine specialist certified by the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors; and BJU Seminary professors: Greg Mazak, Steve Cruice and Brian Hand. Additionally, Kelli Dionne will present breakout sessions on counseling children dealing with anxiety and helping children of divorce navigate loss.

Scott, joined by Dan Dionne, will participate in a “Conversation about Suicide” in Stratton Hall on Tuesday, Jan. 30, at 7 p.m.

“Through a series of carefully chosen plenary and breakout sessions, speakers at our CoRE Conference will lay the biblical groundwork for understanding the problem of depression and despair,” said Dr. Neal Cushman, dean of the BJU Seminary. “Attendees will be equipped to help fellow believers in difficult scenarios return to the hope and joy God promised to this broken world.”

A complete schedule and registration information are available here. Session recordings will be added to the CoRe archives page after the conference.
