Holiday Spirit at Washington Center

Holiday spirit was in the air as Washington Center students and staff enjoyed musical performing groups from St. Mary's Catholic School. Student groups included beginning and advanced strings, St. Mary's band, and a show choir. Students were under the direction of Dr. Richard House and performed a variety of Christmas and seasonal music. What a treat it was to hear these students share their music at this festive time of the year.

BJU Students Conduct Coin Drive for GHS Children’s Hospital Patients

Bob Jones University students organized a coin drive which raised over $900 to stock “Blessing Baskets” for families of sick children who will spend the Christmas season in GHS Children’s Hospital.
The Leadership and Communication class spearheaded the school wide effort to fill baskets with toiletries, snacks, candy, socks, gift cards to Chick-fil-A or Walmart and a toy for the child. Members of the student body also contributed cards for the families. The successful drive resulted in 35 baskets and 20 individual gifts. Excess cash will be donated to a family in financial need.

Greenville County Kindergarten, 1st Grade Registration Extended to December 21, 2018

Registration for kindergarten and first grade in Greenville County Schools has been extended until Friday, December 21, 2018. Children who will be five years old on or before September 1, 2019 must enroll in public or private kindergarten, unless the parent or legal guardian signs a waiver. Any child who will be six years old on or before September 1, 2019 must enroll in first grade. Students who are currently enrolled in a GCS 4K or 5K program do not need to register. Visit your assigned Greenville County public school on or before December 21 to register.

The Honorable Mike Burns from District 17 of the South Carolina House of Representatives addressed the over 200 undergraduates, graduates, doctoral candidates, and first Physician Assistant (PA) Medicine graduates.

The Furman University Heller Service Corps generously supplies items for students attending Washington Center. Throughout the years, the college service organization has gifted items such as blankets, gloves, socks, books and musical toys. This holiday season, the donations included batteries for communication devices, drawing sets and markers for worksheet responses. The school’s students and staff are grateful for the caring hearts and benevolence of the Furman Heller Service Corps members.

Uptown Brass Quintet Visits Washington Center

Washington Center students and staff enjoyed a holiday concert by the Uptown Brass Quintet. Familiar tunes, brass antics and flying snowballs made for a fun musical celebration. Former student Davis Dalby joined his percussionist father, John Dalby, and the musicians for the festive experience.

Tigerville, SC – North Greenville University’s Physician Assistant (PA) Medicine program recently hosted its first career fair at its Tim Brashier campus in Greer in November. The event brought employers to the campus to meet NGU’s first PA Medicine Class of 2018 that will graduate this Saturday, Dec. 8. Employers were able to meet the students, discuss employment opportunities, arrange interviews or conduct preliminary screening of candidates.
