Ken Ward Honored for 38-Years Community Service
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
The Tigerville Fire Department honored Charles K. “Ken” Ward and his wife Betty Jean during the annual awards banquet Friday night at North Greenville University. Chief Russell Ledford made the presentation and cited Ward for 38 years of dedicated service as a volunteer firefighter and 22 years as a Fire Commissioner. His commission term ends this month and Ward has decided at age 80 to allow younger firemen to rush out in the middle of the night in all kinds of weather to fight fires and preserve lives. Although he is retiring from official duties, no one expects Ken Ward to sit in a rocking chair at home if his fellow firemen are heading to a fire or assisting a neighbor in distress.

- By Bob Dill, Publisher
If Convicted, First Offense Carries No Less than 1 year in Prison and No More than 10 years
Greenville County Schools have experienced a rash of bomb threats in recent days. Three high school students have now been arrested and charged with “conveying false information regarding attempted use of a destructive device,” a felony.
On December 17, Eastside High School was evacuated in the morning hours due to a Bomb Threat. A student at the school located the threat which was written on a note and notified school administrators. Once everyone was out of the school, staff conducted a search of the entire school and did not locate any suspicious devices.
The Cholesterol Scam
- By Dr. Joe Carrano
We are told that cholesterol is a major cause of heart disease. At least 40 million Americans are currently taking cholesterol-lowering medications, known as statins, and millions more people are avoiding foods that contain saturated fat and cholesteroL
The basic idea is that dietary saturated fat raises cholesterol levels, and these two substances somehow clog-up our arteries, causing a heart attack.
However, a number of doctors and researchers have been challenging this hypothesis for decades, and the latest heart disease statistics reveal some alarming facts. Such as:
Remember Pearl Harbor!
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
On December 7, 1941, I was 9-years old. It was Sunday. I was sitting in my father’s 1937 Ford in front of my grandfather’s house listening to the car radio when the Pearl Harbor attack was announced. My grandfather did not own a radio or a car. He was a country preacher, farmer and house painter. A horse, buggy, wagon or sled provided his transportation. At the time, he had 8 daughters and 5 sons living. Four of the sons bad served in the military. The oldest, Alonzo, served in France in World War I, Dan had served a tour in the Navy, Jim had served in the Army in the Pacific and Paul had joined the United States Marines and served in Panama, Nicaragua and Haiti. Joe, the youngest, was in his late teens and living at home.

DOD Making Plans to Close Military Commissaries
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
Benefit to Troops and Families Second only to Medical Care
The Obama Department of Defense is seriously considering closing all military commissaries as part of the 2015 Defense Budget.
Closing 178 stores in the United States and 70 overseas, the closing would save approximately $1.4 billion annually. Salaries for employees are included in the Defense Budget. Commissary customers pay a 5 percent surcharge on all purchases in the stores to fund construction and maintenance of facilities, equipment and supplies. Titles to the multi-million dollar facilities paid for by troops and their families are donated to the government. It is a good deal for the taxpayers.
WWII Pilot Training A Dangerous Mission
- By James Moore
Hall Remembers his Service during an Unforgettable Time
In remembrance of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor that happened 72 years ago on December 7, I sat down with a WWII vet to get his take on this fateful event.
On the day of the attack, Frank Hall and his friend hitchhiked into town to watch The Last of the Mohicans at the theater. While they were watching the movie a typed messaged was projected on the screen that read, the Japs just bombed Pearl Harbor. Hall remembers that gasps were heard within the darkness and a bunch of people got up and rushed out. At that moment in time Hall didn’t know where Pearl Harbor was located and thought it was a town in China since they had been warring with the Japanese for quite some time. It wasn’t until he phoned his mother that he found out that the attack was on American soil. In shock, he returned home to be with his family and listen to the message from the president urging for Congress to return. Hall was 15 years old at the time.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Despite all the lies, deception and fraud taking place around us, most of us have much to be thankful for. It is my desire to use this space for something positive for a change. So here goes.
I have been blessed to live in this constitutional republic during what I believe have been its greatest years. My generation survived the great depression and came out stronger. We saw parents, uncles and neighbors leave for World War II, defeat the tyrants, and return to fuel the greatest economic engine and produce the highest standard of living the world has ever known.

Veterans Report Problems Despite New Facility
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
Veterans without VA Healthcare must Get Obamacare or Have Assessment added to Their Income Tax.
Just a few weeks ago, the Veterans Administration cut the ribbon officially opening the new elaborate Greenville Outpatient Clinic. Politicians, developers and administrators heaped praise on each other on that occasion, however, a Town Hall Meeting held at the facility last Thursday was well attended by veterans with complaints. Their comments indicated that the elaborate clinic may be understaffed and less than responsive to some veterans’ alleged problems and concerns. Information provided regarding Obamacare did not add to the comfort level of most veterans.

Reprint April 4, 2007
“Everybody’s in recovery and nobody’s talking about a cure!”
Winn Freeman believes that those who are imprisoned by addiction don’t have to stay in recovery for the rest of their lives. “You move beyond recovery. That’s where life begins.” He and those who follow his Bible-based training are living examples that it’s training, commitment and discipline, not treatment that leads to a different lifestyle and lasting freedom from addiction to drugs and alcohol.

The Cold, Hard Facts of Life
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
Now is the time for all good Americans to face the cold, hard facts of life. We must put aside our naïve idealism and accept the hard cruel truth that we are past the wonderful years when we could “tune out” problems that do not impact us personally. In the not too distant past, with a high degree of confidence, we could assume that all would end well because all always had ended well in our constitutional republic blessed by God and led by patriotic, freedom loving elected officials.
Five years ago Americans willingly voted for change without knowing what change they were voting for. They had been taught a revisionist History and many Americans sincerely believed that it was time for black Americans to have their own president as reparation for mistreatment of their ancestors.

Tens of Millions Spent on State Agency Travel
- By Rick Brundrett from "The Nerve"
From “The Nerve”
As South Carolina struggles to recover from the Great Recession, state agencies in recent years have increased spending on travel in and out of the Palmetto State.
A review by The Nerve of annual state travel reports by S.C. Comptroller General Richard Eckstrom found that the total amount spent on travel increased from $61.9 million in fiscal 2009 to more than $69.6 million last fiscal year, which ended June 30 – a jump of more than $7.7 million, or 12.5 percent.
The totals include in-state and out-of-state conference registration fees; and travel, lodging and meal expenses for non-state employees under contract with state agencies. Expenditures paid from state, federal and “other” revenues, as listed in the annual state budget bill, are covered in the reports.
VA Forcing Chaplains from Service for Quoting Scripture, Praying in the Name of Jesus

Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki Sued by Attorneys for Baptist Group
Two Baptist chaplains have said they were forced out of a Veterans Affairs chaplain-training program after they refused orders to “stop quoting the Bible” and “stop praying in the name of Jesus.”
This is a pattern of anti-Christian behavior that has surfaced throughout the Obama administration aimed at military personal both active and retired.
Navy Chaplain Lt. Commander Dan Klender and retired Army chaplain Major Steven Firtko had enrolled in the VA’s Clinical Pastoral Education Center program in San Diego last year.

Beware of Prophets Obsessed with Obama
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
In the midst of a war on terror, sometimes referred to as “workplace violence” suddenly we begin hearing stories of non-terrorists terrorizing people. The latest was Miriam Carey, who reportedly was designated the “Prophet of Stamford, Connecticut,” who was said to be obsessed with President Obama and believed he was electronically monitoring her home and communicating with her.
She may have been attempting to visit Obama when she drove 270 miles to the White House with her 18-month old child and crashed through a blockade at the White House. Her actions caused the Secret Service and Police to take suit and finally force her out of her car near the Nation’s Capitol where the unarmed woman was shot and killed. The shooting and death of an unarmed black woman is shrouded in controversy and secrecy. There were allegedly 15 bullet holes in her car. The child was unharmed and there was no report on how many bullets hit the woman. It was reported that she was shot and killed after departing the vehicle.

The presentation was given in executive session with only Executive Committeemen and precinct presidents and other party officers present, in compliance with attorney client rules.
