Sen. Tim Scott Launches Campaign
- By Thomas C. Hanson
Sen. Tim Scott launched his election campaign at Tommy’s Ham House in Greenville, Thursday. Rep. Trey Gowdy introduced Sen. Scott, calling him “the most decent person I have ever known in public office.” Sen. Scott said: “At the federal level, we see a government that is running inconsistent with the values of America. It is our responsibility to bring it back onboard with the American people starting here in the Upstate.”

“Obamacare Worst Thing Since Slavery”
- By Thomas C. Hanson
Conservative commentator Benjamin Carson addressed the Great Homeschool Convention at the TD Center in Greenville, Saturday night.
Dr. Carson told the audience: “I am not politically correct,” explaining that people came to this country seeking freedom from governments telling them what they could say, what they could do and where they could live. “They can only be successful through intimidation and fear, and if people are not intimidated by them and don’t fear them, they have nothing.”
Our Founding Fathers founded a country where the people were at the center, not the government, but this is changing. He called Obamacare the worst thing since slavery.
Dr. Carson and his wife Candy signed books and autographs afterward.
You can watch Dr. Carson’s speech online at SouthCarolinaConservative.com.
Speaker Bobby Harrell in Desperate Legal Battle

Asking Judge to Replace Attorney General as Grand Jury Prosecutor
Circuit Court Judge Casey Manning is faced with a dilemma. He is being asked by lawyers for House Speaker Bobby Harrell to disqualify South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson from prosecuting a state grand jury ethics case against House Speaker Harrell.
This is a high-stakes political battle between an Attorney General, who says he is only doing his job, and Speaker of the House of Representatives, who holds the most powerful position in the state and has been accused of abusing that power and misusing campaign funds.

Gowdy: “The Constitution gives Congress the responsibility to write the laws and the Executive to enforce them. We don’t pass suggestions. We don’t pass ideas. We pass laws. Regardless of our politics, I hope my colleagues have enough regard for our work to expect those laws would be faithfully executed.”

The development of the extension of the Swamp Rabbit Trail will also be a big focus during the next four years.
99th Birthday for Dot Breazeale
- By Rosemary Reed
On Monday, March 17th, the usually ordinary activity of doll making was briefly set aside. The ladies chose St. Patrick’s Day to celebrate the 99th birthday of one of their most diligent workers, Dot Breazeale. She has been a member of Taylors First Baptist Church since 1959, and is active in the Global Missions Group. In early 2010, a meeting devoted to local mission activities featured a lady from Berea First Baptist Church with a sample cloth doll they sent to children in foreign countries to tell about Jesus. Tricia Phillips and several ladies, including Dot, went to Berea First Baptist, where they learned to make the dolls.

Illegal Immigration in North Carolina
- By Mike Scruggs
$2.0 Billion Annual Fiscal Costs
The Federation of Americans for Immigration Reform (FAIR) has just released a multi-resourced report entitled, The Fiscal Burden of Illegal Immigration on North Carolinians. (See www.fairus.org) With 410,000 illegal immigrants, 4.3 percent of the population, North Carolina ranks 11th among the states impacted. At the end of 2013, the state had 323,000 or 6.9 percent unemployed, ranking 17 out of 50 states in percentage unemployed.
The fiscal costs of illegal immigration in North Carolina are estimated at $2.0 billion per year or 9.7 percent of the state’s $20.7 billion annual budget. This is $578 annually for each North Carolina native or naturalized citizen household.

We needed an inspiring, positive book about what makes America the most wonderful, prosperous, and compassionate nation in history.”
Investigation into Death of Greer Nurse Reopened

After Sixteen Years, Coroner Revised “Manner of Death” from “suicide” to “Undetermined” as Sheriff Reopens Investigation – Persistence of Parents and Family’s Search for Truth Produced Results and Relief
Thanks to the dedication and professionalism of a Charleston County Coroner, the sixteen-year nightmare of a Greer family may be coming to an end. Their persistent belief that their South Carolina Highway Patrolman son-in-law may have killed their bright, attractive daughter and that the investigation into her death was “botched” is finally coming to fruition.
On March 7, 2014, the sixteenth anniversary of the mysterious death of their daughter Susan, Tom and Shirley Beacham of Greer received a phone call from Charleston County Coroner Rae Wooten who said she was changing the official ruling on their daughter’s manner of death from “suicide” to “undetermined.” Wooten was not Coroner at the time of the original report. A spokesman for the Charleston County Sheriff informed the Charleston Post and Courier that the ruling would require a prompt review of the case.
The Changing Face of CPAC
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
Does the changing face of CPAC predict the future of the Republican Party or the conservative movement? Seems that the attendees at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Maryland were heavily weighted toward the Ron Paul Wing of the Republican Party and most of those are Libertarian Party activists.
The 2,459 attendees were comprised of about 65 percent male and 35 percent female. Half of the crowd were students and about half were opposed to the leadership direction of the GOP in Congress.
The large percentage of conference attendees that indicated to pollsters that they favored legalization of marijuana were not representative of the Republican Party or conservative Tea Party activists, in my view. If they are, the country is in worse shape than previously thought. If more than a third of young conservatives are already pot heads, the Obama regime and media have already won and there is no hope short of Divine intervention that is certain to come in the form of either relief or wrath.

Attorney Reports on Republican Lawsuit

Attorney for Greenville County GOP Executive Committee Explained to Public Audience how Liberal Democrats are Selecting Nominees for the Republican Party in South Carolina
Very few people know that 22.30 percent of voters in the 2011 Greenville City Republican primary had voted for either Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton in the 2008 Democrat Presidential Preference Primary. Some of those voting in the Republican primaries were elected Democrat office holders and Democrat Party officials.
Data collected from across the state proves that Liberal Democrats currently have a key role in selecting nominees for the Republican Party in the Palmetto State. That is why the Greenville County Republican Party and their attorneys have worked diligently for several years to right this serious unconstitutional injustice. It is the reason why conservative voters in increasing numbers are staying home on election day and threatening to form another party.

The True Story of Dr. John P. Weber by His Son Tom Weber
Several weeks ago, Tom Weber, a Subscriber to The Times Examiner from Utah sent me a copy of the book he had written and published about the life of his father. As a self-imposed rule, I only write and publish a book review after I have read the book. Sometimes that means a long wait.
Since I had made a commitment to Tom last year, and he had been so kind and patient, I committed myself to read the book this past weekend. I began reading after lunch on Sunday and although we had relatives visiting, I could not put it down for more than a few minutes at a time until I read the last page.
National Takeover of School Curriculum
- By Phyllis Schlafly
Many people said Ho-Hum when Barack Obama threatened to change any law with his pen or phone, and even used that power to personally alter Obamacare and the welfare law, and to “legislate” the Dream Act that Congress refused to pass. But Americans are rising up by the tens of thousands to stop Common Core, which is the current attempt to compel all U.S. children to be taught the same material and not be taught other things parents might think important.
Ever since Congress began pouring federal tax dollars into public schools, parents have been solicitous to have Congress write into law a prohibition against the federal government writing curriculum or lesson plans, or imposing a uniform national curriculum. Parents want those decisions made at the local level by local school boards which are, or should be, subject to the watchful eyes of local citizens and parents.
Greenville County Moving Toward Sales Tax Increase
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
The power structure behind the scenes in Greenville County is moving rapidly ahead toward increasing the county sales tax by an additional one cent on the dollar. None of the advocates of this psychological exercise want to talk about a tax increase at this time, although it is clear that their goal is a sales tax increase. It is premature to discuss tax increases at this time if the approved script is followed.
A tested and proven strategy is being used to convince an uninformed and somewhat gullible public that a majority of the people in the county favor a tax increase to fix the neglected and deteriorating roads and bridges in their community or neighborhood.
Common Core Hot Topic at GCRW Luncheon
- By James Moore
Common Core is “Just the next Federal attempt to herd states and our children into a one-size- fits-all standard.”
The February luncheon of the Greenville Republican Women had the future of education of South Carolina as the topic. The speakers consisted of State Superintendent of Education Mick Zais, and Superintendent candidates Charmeka Childs, and Sheri Few. With the bridge year of Common Core State Standards upon the state of SC and the full implementation year closely approaching, the topic was touched by every speaker.
Zais, a Republican who campaigned against Common Core four years ago, has a firm belief that all children cannot be taught through a one size fits all curriculum.
Educating for a Two Tier Society
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
Very few parents would sell their children into slavery. Some would fight to the death before they would allow it to happen. However, those same parents could be deceived and tricked. They might accept slavery for their children if slavery was quietly and gradually renamed “progressive,” and if the parents were told by people they trust that this newly named program administered by a caring government would result in a superior education, sustainable health, economic prosperity, security and lasting happiness for their children and future generations.
Leading educators from some of the nation’s more prestigious universities are warning their fellow Americans about the dangers systematically inherent in the “national” Common Core Standards that are being promoted as “state” Common Core Standards. These educators have reached some alarming conclusions. One of the conclusions should anger every American and motivate them to action.
Chumley to Seek Re-election to House
- By Press Release
Republican State Representative Bill Chumley announced today that he will seek re-election to the South Carolina House of Representatives. Rep. Chumley has served in the House since 2011 representing District 35.
“We’ve made some positive steps towards furthering reform in this last term,” Rep. Chumley said. “In the House I’ve been able to work closely with other conservatives and I am proud of the things we’ve been able to accomplish. The most important, and certainly most controversial, issue has been efforts to stop Obamacare in South Carolina.”
Rep. Chumley said that without a doubt stopping the further implementation of Obamacare has been the biggest part of his efforts. “I’ve had to make some tough calls and take some challenging votes, but everything I’ve done has been focused on the goal of limited government, lower taxes, and more personal freedom.”
Hip And Knee Replacement, The Facts
- By Dr. Joe Carrano
I have to bite my tongue when folks say that they must have their hips replaced. They announce that they have no choice because they have a ‘bone on bone.” The really stupid part is they want to trade bone on bone for metal on metal. Any mechanic will tell you that is a terrible mistake! The recent recall of J&J’s DePuy hip replacements in 2010 is just one piece of evidence. In fact a California jury just awarded over $8 million in damages to a man for his failed ball and socket hip implant. And there have been others that have had shedding of metallic debris in their tissue causing serious damage, pain and permanent injuries.

Window of Opportunity for Blocking Common Core is Closing

Many Lawmakers Unwilling to seek Facts, Challenge Education and big Business Lobby
With multitudes of Parents fearing for the future of their children’s education, a few key lawmakers who can end the fears have their heads in the sand.
The National Governors Conference was held in Washington, D.C., over the weekend. Secretary of Education Arney Duncan addressed the Governors’s Education and Workforce Committee. The Secretary answered questions posed by Governors and panel discussions with experts were held. All was televised by C-SPAN. Not a word was uttered about Common Core Standards that have the nation’s parents in an uproar as the Governors met in nonpartisan unity.
Defense Cuts “Devastating” to National Security
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
Proposal Would Require Active Troops, Retirees and Military Families to Sacrifice Financially By Paying More for Food, Housing and Medical Care
President Obama will present his $496 billion Fiscal Year 2015 budget next week. His cuts in the defense budget, as presented by Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel on Monday, will be devastating to national security and break promises made to active and retired military and their families by the government that sent them into harms way.
With a cut to 450,000 troops, the army will be at the lowest strength since 1940, a year before the outbreak of World War II. Marines will lose a substantial number of combat troops. The Air Force and Navy will lose several important weapon systems.
This Is War
- By Frank Hall - Greenville, SC
Exactly 40 years ago (as I write this) President Ronald Reagan made one of his great State of the Union addresses. His closing remarks need to be reviewed:
We cannot escape our destiny, nor should we try to do so. The leadership of the free world was thrust upon us two centuries ago in that little hall of Philadelphia. In the days following World War II, when the economic strength and power of America was all that stood between the world and the return to the dark ages, Pope Pius XII said, “The American people have a great genius for splendid and unselfish actions. Into the hands of America God has placed the destinies of an afflicted mankind.”
Impeachment
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
A lot of people are talking about Impeachment to stop the lawlessness of the Obama Administration. Several alleged impeachable offenses have been compiled. However, virtually no one is doing anything about it.
The US House of Representatives impeached President Bill Clinton, however the Senate, controlled by Democrats as exists now, refused to try him. Democrats threatened to impeach President Richard Nixon; however, Nixon resigned to prevent the country from going through a painful impeachment process during a time when leftists had divided the country over the Vietnam War.
One of the alleged impeachable offenses by Obama is failure to enforce laws passed by Congress and signed by the president.
Duncan Introduces Resolution Condemning Common Core
- By Press Release
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Jeff Duncan (SC-03) introduced H. Res. 476, which denounces the use of federal coercion to lure states into adopting Common Core academic standards. The companion resolution to Senator Lindsey Graham’s S. Res. 345 also underlines the importance of returning education to the states.
“Common Core is one of the most frequent concerns I hear from parents when I’m traveling across the district. Parents and teachers alike are alarmed by this top-down approach to education that wrongly ties education money for states to the adoption of academic standards that do not fully reflect the values of South Carolina. Beyond the most important constitutional issues with federal education standards, many education leaders have been raising concerns with the content of the standards themselves.”

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Gov. Nikki Haley joined Senator Sean Bennett, Representative Mike Pitts, and Anthony Roulette, the South Carolina liaison for the National Rifle Association, at a bill signing for S.308, the Concealed Carry Reform Bill.

Texas Congressman Scolds President for Intimidating Employers, Middle Class; Republican Leaders for Failing to Stand up for America
Last week President Obama arbitrarily changed the Healthcare law, once again violating his constitutional authority for political purposes. He delayed implementation of the employer mandate for businesses employing between 50 and 99 employees until after the 2014 congressional elections. The delay is designed to ease another part of Obamacare implementation in order to help Democrats who voted for the healthcare bill win reelection.
