Spiritual Nudist
- Details
- By Ben Graydon
When Adam and Eve disobeyed God in the Garden of Eden and ate of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, they went and hid. They made themselves coverings of fig leaves to hide their nakedness. The habit continues today – people covering their weaknesses, their failures, their shortfalls, their embarrassments, their insecurities with fig leaves.
A church needs a leader without fig leaves – one who will be for them the model of a spiritual nudist. Unfortunately, that model is not standard. What most see is a very polished, very covered up artificial contrivance. Consider:

Stop Google's Kiddie Data Predators

No consent. No disclosure. No escape.
For legions of unwitting students and teachers across the country, this is the dangerous, de facto data policy Google has imposed over their school districts. An estimated 80 million students and teachers are now signed up for free "G Suite for Education" accounts (formerly known as Google Apps for Education); more than 25 million students and teachers now use Google Chromebooks. A Google logon is the key to accessing homework, quizzes, tests, group discussions, presentations, spreadsheets and other "seamless communication." Without it, students and teachers are locked out of their own virtual classrooms.

The Huge Stakes of Thursday's Confrontations
- Details
- By Pat Buchanan
Thursday is shaping up to be the Trump presidency's "Gunfight at O.K. Corral."
That day, the fates of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, and much else, may be decided.
The New York Times report that Rosenstein, sarcastically or seriously in May 2017, talked of wearing a wire into the Oval Office to entrap the president, suggests that his survival into the new year is improbable.
Whether Thursday is the day President Donald Trump drops the hammer is unknown.
Whisper, Talk, and Shout, and Sing ... These Are the Ways We Use Our Voices
- Details
- By Washington Center

Students in Mrs. Julie Dail’s Washington Center music classes have been learning how to use their voices in 4 different ways and/or to recognize these sounds in the voices of others around them.
Students began their learning by singing and moving to a song, “Whisper, Talk, and Shout, and Sing.” As the Quavermusic song played, the teacher modeled sign language for each of the 4 voices and encouraged students to do the same. Later, students participated in an activity that helped them match teacher-made speech symbols of the sounds to the correct voice recorded on the voice output device.

"Global Warming Skepticism for Busy People"

I just finished reading the book, "Global Warming Skepticism for Busy People" ... https://www.amazon.com/Global-Warming-Skepticism-Busy-People-ebook/dp/B07H57WVYJ ... and I highly recommend it.
Written by a climatologist who has a doctorate in that field, this book explores the (lack of) science and the lack of scientific consensus (claims to the contrary not withstanding), as well as what the real science says. This is a Kindle book, and as much as I prefer "real" books, being a Kindle book has two huge benefits: the author can and does update it as new information becomes available, and instead of footnotes and a bibliography, he provides links to research and other evidence.

Some of My Favorite Things

A couple of years ago, for the old print version of The Times Examiner, I wrote a version of this article. I read it again recently and it gave me a few chuckles. In this time of stress and demands for “societal change”, perhaps you’ll get a few much needed laughs to brighten your day, if only for an instant or two. Many of us recall, with lots of nostalgia and fondness, that great musical film, “The Sound of Music.” We saw it in Charlotte, N.C. for the very first time in 1966, and I confess we were delighted by the wonderful music and songs of Rodgers and Hammerstein, and the interesting script, based only VERY loosely on the real history of the Von Trapp Family Singers of Austria, prior to WW11.

Judge Kavanaugh’s Character Assassins Could Be Controlling Your Medical Care
- Details
- By Marilyn M. Singleton, MD, JD
Our legislators have been at their worst over the Supreme Court confirmation of Judge Brett Kavanaugh. What a shameful display: condescending, arrogant show-boating senators questioning him in a manner reminiscent of the Grand Inquisitor. The only things missing from this B-grade movie were the rubber hoses and interrogation lights. Some of us remember that you could count on one hand the “nay” votes for the confirmations of ACLU attorney Ruth Bader Ginsberg and known conservative Antonin Scalia.
Republican Resisters!

The infantlilization of the American people is nearly complete. “Democrats” cannot accept losing the Presidency, Establishment “Republicans” in DC, like Bill Kristol and Jonah Goldberg, cannot accept losing the GOP primary, (they call themselves “Never-Trumpers”) and if that isn’t upsetting enough, there are “Republicans” in Spartanburg, including, apparently, one married to an elected official, who are still sore and resisting the newly elected chairman of the Spartanburg County Republican Party.

Operation Rescue Stands Behind Judge Kavanaugh in Face of Gutter-Level Attacks
- Details
- By Christian Newswire
WASHINGTON -- Despite the new vicious attacks on President Donald Trump's Supreme Court nominee, Judge Brett Kavanaugh, Operation Rescue stands strongly in support of his confirmation.
"President Trump is standing behind Judge Kavanaugh and that is good enough for me," said Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue. "We must not allow these gutter-level unsubstantiated accusations to derail this nominee. Democrats are desperate to destroy him because they fear he will shift the balance of the court and eventually help overturn Roe v. Wade. Make no mistake - these people are more than willing to resort to lying, cheating, and destroying anyone who gets in the way of abortion on demand."
University Corruption
- Details
- By Walter Williams
I'm thankful that increasing attention is being paid to the dire state of higher education in our country. Heather Mac Donald, a fellow at the Manhattan Institute, has just published "The Diversity Delusion." Its subtitle captures much of the book's content: "How Race and Gender Pandering Corrupt the University and Undermine Our Culture." Part of the gender pandering at our universities is seen in the effort to satisfy the diversity-obsessed National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health, each of which gives millions of dollars of grant money to universities. If universities don't make an effort to diversify their science, technology, engineering and math (known as STEM) programs, they risk losing millions in grant money.
