CEF Caring for Ukrainian Children in Ukraine and Neighboring Countries
- By Christian Newswire
WARRENTON, Mo., March 17, 2022 /Christian Newswire/ -- CEF has 69 national workers in Ukraine who were ministering to children on a daily basis, reaching 133,000 children in 2021. Only 12 workers have fled the country thus far. Of the remaining, half are sheltering in place and the other half have moved to western Ukraine. One reported that in the last few days, a city in western Ukraine was hit with 30 bombs but only 8 exploded. Some CEF workers cannot leave because they are conscription-age males and do not have 3+ children.
US Vital Interests Dictate an End to This War
- By Pat Buchanan
Speaking to Congress, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy asked for many things from the United States.
He wants us to establish a no-fly zone over Ukraine. He wants the Soviet-era MiGs that NATO allies (from their Warsaw Pact days) have in their arsenals. He wants Russian-made S-300 antiaircraft systems in NATO inventories transferred to Kyiv.
He wants the U.S. to sanction every Russian official who does not repudiate this war on Ukraine. He wants all U.S. companies to pull out of Russia. He wants all Russian-made goods kept out of U.S. markets.
In short, Zelenskyy wants the U.S. as a full-fledged ally in Ukraine's war against the Russian invaders.
Taxpayers Defrauded of Billions
- By Eagle Forum
Covid is Over; Why is Pelosi Still Spending?
After COVID funding was stripped from the $1.5 trillion omnibus last week, Democrat leadership is still trying to figure out a way to pass it as a separate bill. Even though $4.6 trillion remains unspent from the $14 trillion that the federal government has previously allocated, the President requested an additional $22.5 billion. Now, the White House is fuming at House Democrats’ inability to pass it.
Even though Democrats blame Republicans for blocking COVID funding, it was their own members who were the obstructionists. Progressives were upset because of the offsets included in the bill. They would rather raise taxes than cut unnecessary programs to fund their projects. Then, the White House took their side. White House COVID-19 response coordinator Jeff Zients chastised Congress by saying:
Legislative Delegations Still Meddling in Local School Matters
- By Rick Brundrett - The Nerve
County legislative delegations are again asserting their power over local school districts.
The Legislature so far this session has passed at least five school-related bills introduced by House or Senate members representing counties in which the affected school districts are located.
Gov. Henry McMaster vetoed all five bills – three of them on Monday – though lawmakers overrode the first two vetoes.
Until the mid-1970s, legislative delegations generally governed the counties they represented, including approving county budgets. The 1975 Home Rule Act was supposed to give counties more control over their own affairs, though it didn’t end lawmakers’ control over local school districts and certain other areas.

NRB presents awards to undergraduate or graduate student intercollegiate NRB members for outstanding examples of radio, television, and film productions. The convention allows students to network with professionals in their fields and participate in workshops related to Christian media.
Mr. Zelensky Goes to Washington
- By Tony Perkins - Family Research Council
For members of Congress, who filed in to the dark-paneled congressional auditorium this morning, the mood was somber. Instead of the ornate House chamber, where important speeches to both chambers are usually held, the special room in the Capitol's visitor center had the feel of a situation room. And to the men and women there, wearing U.S.-Ukrainian pins, that's exactly what it was. Almost 5,000 miles away, the most unlikely of heroes had come to plead for his people from the belly of a war he didn't ask for. "The destiny of our country is being decided," President Volodymyr Zelensky urged, his larger-than-life face creased by weeks of sleepless nights. "I call on you to do more."
Denver Covers Up Lee Keltner's Assassination
- By Michelle Malkin
Self-described "Progressive Prosecutor" Beth McCann, the district attorney of Denver, campaigned on a promise to "keep our city safe and provide equal justice for all," "to rebuild trust" and "to keep open lines of communication."
Bullcrap.
McCann's syrupy sweet talk is a sick, twisted and deadly crock. The Mile High City's homicide rate is at a record high; aggravated assaults are skyrocketing. COVID lockdowns decimated local businesses, but roving "homeless" agitators took over downtown Denver and turned it into a riot-friendly, drug-addled, violence-wracked empire. McCann vindictively prosecuted besieged motorist Jennifer Watson, who was attacked by George Floyd rioters blocking downtown streets, instead of prosecuting the thugs; a jury acquitted her on McCann's most overblown charges.
Florida Law Is Pro-Freedom, Not Anti-LGBTQ
- By Star Parker
The distorted rhetoric -- should I say lies? -- labeling Florida's legislation about parental rights in public schools as, "Don't say gay" demonstrates the hypocrisy of LGBTQ activism.
I say hypocrisy because this movement has always showcased itself as being about freedom, rights and social justice.
But the reality is that LGBTQ activism is not at all about freedom and rights. It is about advancing their particular agenda at the expense of alternative ways of viewing the world.
The Florida legislation, which defines itself at the outset as about parental rights, has 163 lines, out of which a total of five address sex education.
Omnibus Spending Bill Contains Anti-gun Measures
- By Bob Adelmann - The New American
Buried in the omnibus spending bill that hurriedly passed both the U.S. House and the Senate last week were two provisions that no doubt delighted anti-gun groups: expanded enforcement of the NICS background-check system and the recruitment of local and state officials to enforce federal gun-control laws.
The measure that passed the House earlier in the week arrived at the Senate at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday. By 10:00 p.m. Wednesday, 68 Senators had voted for it under pressure to avoid a government shutdown.
Anti-gun Democrats saw their opportunity to stuff these two provisions into the bill, and they took it.
Stanton Healthcare Applauds the Idaho Legislature for Passing Texas-inspired Heartbeat Bill to Ban Abortions After Six Weeks
- By Stanton Healthcare
BOISE, Idaho -- Stanton Healthcare has been part of the core team that is leading the way in passing legislation to ban abortions in the state of Idaho. Senate Bill 1309, which was just passed by the Idaho legislature, is extremely significant as it is modeled after the Texas law and has already withstood several federal court challenges, including not being blocked by the U.S. Supreme Court or the state of Texas' Supreme Court.
Stanton's Physician Assistant, Samantha Doty, testified before the Senate State Affairs Committee, and said the following:
"At Stanton we believe that abortion is wrong at any point in the pregnancy because from the moment of conception a uniquely distinct human being is created. Although our desire is to see abortions completely outlawed in the state of Idaho, we believe enacting SB 1309 would a huge step in the right direction."
Courts Carry Heartbeat Law to Term
- By Joshua Arnold - Family Research Council
Unborn babies just won another Texas-sized legal victory. On Friday, the Texas Supreme Court unanimously ended the abortion industry's challenge to the state's 6-week abortion ban because of its unique enforcement mechanism through private legal action. "Texas law does not authorize the state-agency executives to enforce the Act's requirements, either directly or indirectly," said the court, so abortion groups could not invalidate the law by suing them. The law has already deterred Texas abortion businesses, saving the lives of 100 babies a day.
The Texas Heartbeat Act has ricocheted around America's legal system since it passed into law last year. Abortion interests immediately filed a lawsuit against state officials to block enforcement of the law, as they always do. Nancy Northup, President and CEO of the Center for Reproductive Rights, complained, "the courts have allowed Texas to nullify a constitutional right," a profound insight to anyone who has never read the Constitution.
And That's Why They Call It 'the Swamp'
- By Stephen Moore
With $30 trillion of debt -- which has grown by $5 trillion in just the last two years, with another $2 trillion of red ink expected to get spilled this year -- you might have expected Congress at least to pretend it will temper its reckless spending proclivities.
But you would be sadly mistaken. Congress has just finalized a $1.5 trillion spending bill that required 2,741 pages of legislative text. The Heritage Foundation calculates it would take the average congressman over 300 hours to read this bill with all its legal gobbledygook. So, it's a reasonable certainty that members of Congress have no idea what they voted for.
Is There a Peace Deal Putin and Zelensky Can Accept?
- By Pat Buchanan
In an interview with Reuters, Dmitry Peskov, Russian President Vladimir Putin's spokesman for decades, made a startling offer. Moscow could end the Ukraine war immediately, said Peskov, if four conditions were met.
Ukraine should cease all military action, recognize Crimea as part of Russia, accept the independence of the Luhansk and Donetsk separatist enclaves, and enact a constitutional commitment to "neutrality," which would prevent Ukraine from ever joining NATO.
Were this to be done, said Peskov, the war "will stop in a moment."
As this would restore the situation in Ukraine to the "status quo ante" that existed before Putin ordered the invasion, Peskov's offer seemed not to be believable.

Russia-Ukraine War Issues
- By Mike Scruggs
Commentary and Lessons from History
With few exceptions, the lock-step mainstream national media is proving an unreliable news source on the Russia-Ukraine War. This makes a dangerous war even more dangerous. The United States has not been as close to World War III since the Cuban Missile Crisis of October 1962. I remember those 13 days between October 13 and October 28 well, because I was an Air Force Photo-Radar Intelligence Officer at Strategic Air Command Headquarters in Omaha, Nebraska, and had some responsibility for locating and identifying Soviet missile sites in Cuba. Those days were far more ominous than the present situation in Ukraine to date, but there seems to be a reckless war fever stirred by some politicians, media pundits, and business executives that could easily push moral and intellectual objectivity and common sense aside and ignite devastating destruction and loss of life, which most people would later recognize as stupid and insane.
Current, Former Lawyer-Legislators’ Firms to Share Fees in $300M Settlement
- By Rick Brundrett - The Nerve
In announcing last month that the state is expected to receive more than $300 million from a national opioid settlement, S.C. attorney general Alan Wilson said the money will provide “much-needed financial resources which will help combat South Carolina’s opioid epidemic.”
What wasn’t mentioned then is that part of the proceeds will go to at least six law firms with ties to current or former state lawmakers, according to information provided to The Nerve by the Attorney General’s Office (AGO).
Of South Carolina’s $300 million-plus share of the total $26 billion national settlement, to be paid out over 18 years starting this year, at least $24 million, or 8% of the state’s proceeds, would be split among law firms representing the state, all 46 counties and 43 municipalities.
Don't Insult Me With Your Mask
- By Ben Graydon
Don't insult me with your mask.
It's on your face. You didn't ask.
You just blindly strapped it there,
Then leered at me like I “don't care.”
You act like you're afraid of me,
But a mask on you is meant to be
A barrier to protect me from you.
So are you sick? I'm asking you.
You drive around within your car
And whether going near or far
The Life of John Morrison Birch – Christian Missionary, Pastor, U.S. Army Captain, 1940 to 1945 (Part 3)
- By W.H. Lamb
As we discovered in Parts 1 & 2 of this article, the Christian missionary named John Birch lived a short but incredibly dedicated and adventurous life. Back in the 1930s, hundreds of faithful Christians from many denominations devoted part or all of their lives to missionary work in the large and chaotic country of China. John Birch became a part of that dedicated band, and as soon as he was trained and prepared, he immediately went to where he knew that God wanted him to be.
Last time we discovered how Birch met Col. Jimmy Doolittle and several other flyers from the raid launched from USS Hornet on April 18, 1942. John accompanied Doolittle and the others and led them to safety in unoccupied China. He did the same (with the help of Chinese patriots and guerillas) for about 60 of the other Doolittle Raiders. It was only a short time before Col. Jimmy Doolittle informed Maj. General Claire Chennault, Commander of the famed “Flying Tigers” (the AVG, or American Volunteer Group that existed from 1937 to 1942 in occupied China), of Birch’s heroics in leading his aircrews to safety. Chennault was already a legend among the Free Chinese for the great success achieved by his “Flying Tigers”, the all-volunteer mercenary force who flew Curtiss P-40 Warhawks with shark mouths painted on their noses against superior Japanese aircraft and attacked enemy ground targets.
Disney to DeSantis: Let It Go
- By Tony Perkins - Family Research Council
If you want to know what a small world it really is at Disney, ask CEO Bob Chapek. The head of the happiest place on earth hasn't had a magical 72 hours after his decision to stay out of Florida's debate over sex education blew up in the company's face. Chapek, who tried to lay low on a bill to keep transgender talk out of K-3 classrooms, found out pretty quickly that when it comes to LGBT issues at Disney, things get, well -- animated.
As head of Florida's most popular tourist destination, Chapek had been under intense pressure to speak out against H.B. 1557, the popular Parental Rights in Education bill. For weeks, the legislation has been the center of the media's attention, since it represents one of the most brazen pushbacks to the Left's indoctrination in schools. Although the word "gay" is never mentioned in the bill's text, LGBT extremists -- in a desperate effort to derail the legislation -- dubbed it the "Don't Say Gay Bill." In the end, though, even the Left's misinformation campaign failed to make a dent, and the legislation -- propelled by tens of thousands of parents across the state -- sailed through both chambers.

Update from Ukraine Missionaries
- By Eugene Kozachenko
Greetings from a war-torn Ukraine. This afternoon (Monday) is really just about the first time when I forced myself to get away from everything and sit down behind the computer to write a universal report that I am intending to e-mail out to our friends and supporters’ list. It is time-efficient to do it this way rather than responding to literally hundreds of individual questions. I would really like to send you daily updates if the situation here would permit it - therefore you may send in other people’s e-mail addresses to me to be put on the send-out list (those can be removed after the war if they so desire). Also, short videos are being made every so often and posted on Facebook (search ‘Eugene Kozachenko’ or ‘Greg Powell’).
In fact, a second video has just come out and you may watch it now at: https://www.facebook.com/1170390209/posts/10227197569542980/?d=n
You will not be receiving a paper copy of our February prayer letter since 'snail mail' these days is outdated by the time it gets there and truly lives up to its name. Instead, I will write a bi-monthly summary Feb-March letter after the war is over, hopefully.
Omnibus or Omnibust? Pelosi's $1.5 Trillion in Woke Pork
- By Tony Perkins - Family Research Council
To the rest of the world, Russia's invasion is a nightmare. For Democrats, it was an opportunity. The party of "never let a crisis go to waste" needed an excuse to ram through its radical government spending bill -- and the Ukrainians' suffering gave them just the opening they'd been waiting for. Unfortunately for Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), exploiting a global catastrophe has its downsides. And in this case, it might mean Democrats are more divided -- and more unpopular -- than ever.
It started as a push for Ukrainian aid and ended as one of the most expensive progressive grab bags in recent memory. In Congress, it had been a while since the House decided to get down to the business of budgeting. The last time the chambers had passed a full appropriations package was 2020. But with Washington set to run out of money this Friday and the pressure to send dollars to Kyiv, Democrats saw a window for their priorities and took it. Desperate to get out of town to their party's retreat, they dropped the text of the 2,700-page monstrosity on everyone's desks at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday morning and had the audacity to schedule a vote that same day.
Most of $4.6 billion Surplus to be Spent Under Lawmakers’ Plans
- By Rick Brundrett - The Nerve
If state lawmakers decided to refund taxpayers the expected $4.6 billion surplus for the fiscal year that starts July 1, it would work out to roughly $900 for every man, woman and child in South Carolina.
So far, though, lawmakers have floated smaller tax-relief proposals with the estimated $1.5 billion in new recurring revenue and $3.1 billion in nonrecurring funds for fiscal 2022-23, as forecasted by the state Revenue and Fiscal Affairs Office.
For example, under a plan approved Tuesday by the Senate Finance Committee, one-time rebates would range from $100 to $700 per tax filer with $1 billion, or less than a quarter, of the projected windfall. There were about 2.6 million individual tax returns filed for tax year 2020, state Department of Revenue records show; in comparison, South Carolina’s official population as of April 1, 2020, was 5.1 million.
"Does Greenville County GOP Need an Intervention..."
- By Brett Brocato
Regarding the Examiner’s story about an Intervention for the Greenville GOP, why would the state Republican Party be the right choice to conduct such an intervention? Removing SCGOP leaders from their seats, for cause, is one of the biggest reasons we are involved in the GCGOP.
I want to start with some of the Times Examiner’s complaints about the local party: 1) With our county chairman barred from state GOP meetings, has the Examiner asked what charge was leveled against the Greenville Chairman? Jeff Davis was accused of falsely accusing Chad Connelly of being under investigation by the state, which investigation was then confirmed by the state, before the state dropped it without explanation. There might be a story there (story idea #1). 2) Democrat as a guest speaker, Mr. Pascoe – he reminded us that Governor McMaster questioned the ethics of Alan Wilson on awarding $75M to two law firms ( https://www.thestate.com/news/politics-government/article246001375.html ).

Will More Defense Spending Translate to Better Security?
- By Veronique de Rugy
The brutal invasion of Ukraine by Russia has renewed conservatives' calls for large increases of our defense budget. The extra money, we are told, would fund more weapons to better prepare us to respond to aggression in a world that looks increasingly dangerous. As compelling as these arguments can be in a stressful time, it's not quite so simple.
Providing military defense is a valid function of the federal government. However, that doesn't give license to Congress to simply pile on more spending, even when there are dangers out there. Nor does it mean that more spending will result in a completely safe world for us Americans. That's in part because that world doesn't exist. There's only so much safety money can buy.
A Crude Assessment of Biden's Oil Fail
- By Tony Perkins - Family Research Council
The rest of the world may have no use for Vladimir Putin, but in this White House, he's performing one very valuable function: scapegoat. For Joe Biden, who's been desperate to offload his share of the blame for this global catastrophe, the Russian warmonger has been a convenient option. When reporters press him about the pain at the pump, the president simply shrugs and says, "Can't do much about it right now. Russia is responsible." He's even taken to calling it "Putin's price hike" -- hoping Americans' outrage will help them forget: it was Biden who was punishing us all along.
